BACKPACK WITH AN INTEGRATED UMBRELLA DEVICE

Abstract

The present invention is a backpack with an integrated umbrella device with an umbrella portion that includes an umbrella with a shaft with a bottom section, a motor disposed on the bottom section of the shaft and a rechargeable battery to power the motor and a backpack portion with a rear and a top that includes a backpack, a funnel located within the backpack to accommodate the umbrella when the umbrella is stored in the backpack and to protect contents stored within the backpack from rain or water from the umbrella. The backpack portion also contains the motor and the rechargeable battery and a backpack shoulder strap that is disposed on the rear of backpack portion with a wire that runs inside the backpack shoulder strap and controls an up and down switch when depressing an activation button that moves the umbrella.

Description

TECHNICAL FIELD & BACKGROUND

Many people utilize umbrellas during rainy or sunny weather as a form of protection. Unfortunately, this limits the use of at least one of their hands and arms. Because a person must carry the umbrella, one of their hands is rendered useless for other tasks. This problem often forces the user to choose between the umbrella or completing a task in a timely manner or even completing the task at all. Because it is not always convenient to carry an umbrella, many people find themselves in the rain without one.

The present invention generally relates to an umbrella device. More specifically, the invention is a backpack with an integrated umbrella device.

It is an object of the invention to provide a backpack with an integrated umbrella device that does not require a user to use his or her hands to use the integrated umbrella.

It is an object of the invention to provide a backpack with an integrated umbrella device that enables a person to carry items or perform a task that requires one or both hands, while remaining protected by an umbrella.

It is an object of the invention to provide an integrated umbrella device that incorporates an umbrella into a backpack, allowing a user to carry books, hold coffee, use a cell phone, and accomplish other necessary tasks, while continuing to be shielded from the sun, rain or other elements.

It is an object of the invention to provide a backpack with an integrated umbrella device that eliminates the chances of individuals finding themselves in inclement weather without umbrella protection.

What is really needed is a backpack with an integrated umbrella device that does not require a user to use his or her hands to use the integrated umbrella, that enables a person to carry items or perform a task that requires one or both hands, while remaining protected by an umbrella, that incorporates an umbrella into a backpack, allowing a user to carry books, hold coffee, use a cell phone, and accomplish other necessary tasks, while continuing to be shielded from the sun, rain or other elements and eliminates the chances of individuals finding themselves in inclement weather without umbrella protection.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF ILLUSTRATIVE EMBODIMENTS

Various aspects of the illustrative embodiments will be described using terms commonly employed by those skilled in the art to convey the substance of their work to others skilled in the art. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced with only some of the described aspects. For purposes of explanation, specific numbers, materials and configurations are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the illustrative embodiments. However, it will be apparent to one skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without the specific details. In other instances, well-known features are omitted or simplified in order not to obscure the illustrative embodiments.

Various operations will be described as multiple discrete operations, in turn, in a manner that is most helpful in understanding the present invention, however, the order of description should not be construed as to imply that these operations are necessarily order dependent. In particular, these operations need not be performed in the order of presentation.

The phrase “in one embodiment” is used repeatedly. The phrase generally does not refer to the same embodiment, however, it may. The terms “comprising”, “having” and “including” are synonymous, unless the context dictates otherwise.

The backpack with an integrated umbrella device 10 provides a user U with a backpack portion 20 and an integrated umbrella portion 30. The integrated umbrella portion 30 includes a standard sized umbrella 32 with a small motor 34 at the bottom of the shaft 36 of the standard sized umbrella 32. Other sized and types of umbrellas that are well known in the art can also be used with the backpack with an integrated umbrella device 10. The umbrella 32 may be mounted inside a funnel 40, which is located inside a backpack 50 of the backpack portion 20. The funnel 40 protects the contents of the backpack 50 from rain or water from the umbrella 32 when the umbrella 32 is folded-up and stored within the backpack portion 20. A small rechargeable battery 60 is included to power the small motor 34 of the umbrella 32 and can be any rechargeable battery that is well known in the art. A wire 70 runs inside a backpack shoulder strap 80 of the backpack portion 20 and controls an up and down switch 90 and when depressing an activation button 100. The umbrella 32 can be raised above the top 22 of the backpack portion 20 to offer instant protection against rain or sun or other exterior elements. After using the umbrella 32, the umbrella 32 may be lowered back into the backpack 20 and funnel 40 using the up and down switch 90 or by manually lowering the umbrella 32 into the backpack 50. The umbrella 32 may also be physically raised out of and above the backpack 50 as well. The backpack 50 of the backpack with an integrated umbrella device 10 maintains its normal function of a backpack while the umbrella 32 is stored or used. Both the umbrella 32 and backpack 50 may be also available in a variety of styles and colors that are well known in the art.

While the present invention has been related in terms of the foregoing embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described. The present invention can be practiced with modification and alteration within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. Thus, the description is to be regarded as illustrative instead of restrictive on the present invention.

Claims

1. A backpack with an integrated umbrella device, comprising: an umbrella portion that includes an umbrella with a shaft with a bottom section, a motor disposed on said bottom section of said shaft and a rechargeable battery to power said motor;a backpack portion with a rear and a top that includes a backpack, a funnel located within said backpack to accommodate said umbrella when said umbrella is stored in said backpack and to protect contents stored within said backpack from rain or water from said umbrella, said backpack portion also contains said motor and said rechargeable battery; anda backpack shoulder strap that is disposed on said rear of backpack portion with a wire that runs inside said backpack shoulder strap and controls an up and down switch when depressing an activation button that moves said umbrella.

2. The device according to claim 1, wherein said up and down switch and said activation are disposed on said backpack shoulder strap.

3. The device according to claim 1, wherein said umbrella can be raised above said top of backpack portion to offer instant protection against said rain, said sun or other exterior elements.

4. The device according to claim 1, wherein said umbrella can be raised above said top of backpack portion using said up and down switch.

5. The device according to claim 1, wherein said umbrella can be raised above said top of backpack portion by manually raising said umbrella out of said backpack and said funnel.

6. The device according to claim 1, wherein said umbrella may be lowered back into said backpack and said funnel using said up and down switch.

7. The device according to claim 1, wherein said umbrella may be lowered back into said backpack and said funnel by manually lowering said umbrella into said backpack and said funnel.
