Claims
- 1. A piece of baggage including a beverage container holder, comprising:the piece of baggage having an interior cavity enclosed by an exterior surface; a collapsible pocket including two side edges, a top edge, and a bottom edge, said pocket attached at the two side edges and the bottom edge to the interior cavity of the piece of baggage in a manner so that the pocket is substantially closed at the side edges and substantially closed at the bottom edge, the pocket being re-configurable between an expanded and a collapsed position, the pocket being adapted to receive and support a beverage container when the pocket is in the expanded position; a closure mechanism operatively connected to the exterior surface of the piece of baggage, the closure mechanism being selectively adjustable between an open and a closed position, the closure mechanism being configured to allow the pocket to be re-configured between the expanded and collapsed positions when the closure mechanism is in the open position and the closure mechanism being configured to restrain the pocket in the collapsed position when the closure mechanism is in the closed position; and an opening extending through the exterior surface of the piece of baggage into the interior cavity of the piece of baggage, the pocket being attached to the interior cavity such that the pocket can be positioned entirely within the interior cavity when the pocket is in the collapsed position, the pocket also being configured to extend through the exterior surface opening when the pocket is in the expanded position, and the closure mechanism being configured to close the opening extending through the exterior surface when the closure mechanism is in the closed position, the interior cavity of the piece of baggage forming a portion of the pocket when the pocket is in the expanded position.
- 2. The piece of baggage of claim 1, wherein:the opening extending through the exterior surface of the piece of baggage is a slit having opposite lengthwise edges oriented generally perpendicular to the bottom edge of said pocket.
- 3. The piece of baggage of claim 1, wherein:the pocket has an opening that has a perimeter comprised of at least first and second portions when the pocket is in the expanded position, the first portion of the perimeter having opposite ends that are brought together by the closure mechanism when the pocket is in the collapsed position.
- 4. The piece of baggage of claim 1, wherein:the interior cavity of the piece of baggage is separate from any storage compartment of the piece of baggage.
- 5. A piece of baggage having a beverage container holder comprising:the piece of baggage including a slit; a collapsible pocket attached adjacent an exterior surface of the piece of baggage, the pocket having an opening edge defining an opening providing access into an interior of the pocket and the pocket having two, opposite side edges at opposite ends of the opening edge, and a bottom edge at the opposite side of said opening edge; and the slit on the piece of baggage defined by two portions of the piece of baggage on opposite sides of the slit, the two side edges of the pocket being secured to the two portions of the piece of baggage and the bottom edge secured to the piece of baggage below the slit so as to form substantially closed side edges and a substantially closed bottom edge with the pocket extending across the slit, the pocket being extendable through the slit where the pocket is suspended from the piece of baggage by the two portions of the piece of baggage to support a beverage container inserted through the pocket opening into the pocket interior and the pocket being collapsible through the slit where the pocket is held within the two portions of the piece of baggage when not in use.
- 6. The piece of baggage of claim 5, wherein:a closure mechanism is attached to the two portions of the piece of baggage and is operable to open and close the slit.
- 7. The piece of baggage of claim 6, wherein:the closure mechanism is a zipper.
- 8. The piece of baggage of claim 5, wherein: the two portions of the piece of baggage have edges on opposite sides of the slit and the two side edges of the pocket are secured to the edges of the two portions of the piece of baggage.
- 9. The piece of baggage of claim 8, wherein:the opposite ends of the pocket opening edge are secured to the edges of the two portions of the piece of baggage.
- 10. The piece of baggage of claim 5, wherein:the opposite ends of the pocket opening edge are secured to the two portions of the piece of baggage on opposite sides of the slit.
- 11. The piece of baggage of claim 5, wherein:the slit is through the exterior surface of the piece of baggage.
- 12. The piece of baggage of claim 1, wherein:a portion of the pocket comprises a mesh material and an elastic member attached to the mesh material to thereby allow the pocket to resiliently expand.
- 13. The piece of baggage of claim 12 wherein:the mesh material is completely concealed when the closure mechanism is in the closed position.
- 14. The piece of baggage of claim 5 wherein:a portion of the pocket comprises a mesh material and an elastic member attached to the mesh material to thereby allow the pocket to resiliently expand.
- 15. The piece of baggage of claim 14 wherein:the mesh material is completely concealed when the closure mechanism is in the closed position.
- 16. The piece of baggage of claim 1 wherein:said two side edges and said bottom edge are attached to said piece of baggage by being sewn to said piece of baggage.
- 17. The piece of baggage of claim 5 wherein:said two side edges and said bottom edge are secured to said piece of baggage by being sewn to said piece of baggage.
- 18. The piece of baggage of claim 2, wherein:said side edges of said pocket comprise opposite side edges of a piece of material, and wherein one of the opposite side edges of the piece of material is attached adjacent to one of the edges of the slit, and the other of the opposite side edges of the piece of material is attached adjacent to the other of the edges of the slit.
