Claims
- 1. A checkout system comprising:
a front module having an upper support surface for support articles; a rear module having an upper support surface for supporting bags filled with the articles; and a bagging module comprising:
a rotatable support surface; and an extendible support adapted for supporting at least one bag, said extendible support being mounted to said rotatable support surface; and said extendible support being movable between an operable position wherein a bag supported by said extendible support is positioned for loading items into the supported bag from the front module and a stowed position wherein an uppermost portion of said extendible support is lowered below said upper surfaces of said front module and said rear module.
- 2. The checkout system according to claim 1, wherein said bagging module further comprises a base, said rotatable support surface being supported by said base.
- 3. The checkout system according to claim 2, wherein said extendible support at least partially extends into said base when said extendible support is moved to its stowed position.
- 4. The checkout system according to claim 1, wherein said extendible support includes at least one bag support, said bag support providing at least one of vertical support and lateral support for a bag.
- 5. The checkout system according to claim 4, wherein said extendible support includes a plurality of bag supports
- 6. The checkout system according to claim 4, wherein said bag support comprises a Y-shaped bag support.
- 7. The checkout system according to claim 1, wherein said extendible support is manually extendible or retractable to thereby move said extendible support between its stowed and operative positions.
- 8. A checkout system bagging module comprising:
a base for positioning in a checkout system; a rotatable support surface for supporting one or more bags, said rotatable support surface supported by said base; and an extendible support adapted for supporting at least one bag, said one extendible support being mounted to said rotatable support surface; and wherein said extendible support is extendible and raised relative to said rotatable support to an operable position where a bag can be loaded and lowered relative to said rotatable support a stowed position.
- 9. The checkout system bagging module according to claim 8, wherein said extendible support at least partially extends into said base when said extendible support is lowered to its stowed position.
- 10. The checkout system bagging module according to claim 9, wherein said extendible support includes at least one bag support, said bag support providing at least one of vertical support and lateral support for a bag.
- 11. The checkout system bagging module according to claim 10, wherein said extendible support includes a plurality of bag supports
- 12. The checkout system bagging module according to claim 11, wherein at least one of said bag supports comprises a Y-shaped bag support.
- 13. The checkout system bagging module according to claim 12, wherein each of said bag supports comprises a Y-shaped bag support.
- 14. The checkout system bagging module according to claim 13, wherein said extendible support is manually extendible or retractable to thereby move said extendible support between its stowed and operative positions.
- 15. A checkout system comprising:
a front module having an upper support surface for supporting items; a rear module having an upper support surface for supporting items; and a bagging module comprising:
a base positioned between said front and rear modules; a rotatable table supported in said base; and an extendible support mounted in said base and extending through and being extendible relative to said rotatable table, said extendible support having a plurality of bag support members for supporting one or more bags; and said extendible support being movable to an operable position wherein said bag support members are generally aligned between said upper support surfaces wherein a bag supported by one of said bag support members is positioned for loading items from said upper support surface of said front module and movable to a stowed position below said operable position wherein an upper most portion of said extendible support is lowered below said support surfaces of said front and rear modules.
- 16. The checkout system according to claim 15, wherein said rotatable table is supported by said base.
- 17. The checkout system according to claim 16, wherein said rotatable table comprises a round table.
- 18. The checkout system according to claim 16, wherein said rotatable table comprises a rectangular table.
- 19. The checkout system according to claim 16, wherein said extendible support at least partially extends into said base when said extendible support is moved to its stowed position.
- 20. The checkout system according to claim 16, wherein said bag support members define said uppermost portion of said extendible support.
- 21. The checkout system according to claim 20, wherein said bag support members comprise Y-shaped bag support members.
- 22. The checkout system according to claim 21, wherein said bag support members comprise wire bag support members.
- 23. The checkout system according to claim 21, wherein said extendible support is manually extendible or retractable to thereby move said extendible support between its stowed and operative positions.
- 24. The checkout system according to claim 21, wherein said rear module includes a conveyor for conveying items across its support surface.
- 25. The checkout system according to claim 24, wherein one of said front module and said second module includes an extendible member, said extendible member extendible over said bagging module when said extendible support is moved to its stowed position.
- 26. The checkout system according to claim 25, wherein said rear module includes said extendible member.
- 27. The checkout system according to claim 25, wherein said extendible member comprises a conveyor.
