Claims
- 1. A bearing shell for a ball and socket joint, the bearing shell comprising:
a core made of plastic; and a film jacketing said core at least in some areas of said core.
- 2. A bearing shell in accordance with claim 1, wherein said film and said plastic of said core consist of the same basic material.
- 3. A bearing shell in accordance with claim 1, wherein said bearing shell has a multipart design with each part including a plastic core jacketed by film at least in some areas.
- 4. A bearing shell in accordance with claim 3, wherein said bearing shell has a bearing shell lower part and a bearing shell upper part, wherein said bearing shell lower part and/or said bearing shell upper part have said core consisting of a plastic, which is jacketed by a film at least in some areas.
- 5. A bearing shell in accordance with claim 1, wherein said core has additives in the plastic for reinforcing said bearing shell.
- 6. A bearing shell in accordance with claim 1, wherein said additives in the plastic are one or more of mica, fibers and/or beads.
- 7. A bearing shell in accordance with claim 1, wherein said film consists of an unreinforced plastic with favorable tribological additives.
- 8. A bearing shell in accordance with claim 1, wherein said plastic is a duroplastic or a thermoplastic.
- 9. A bearing shell in accordance with claim 4, wherein said bearing shell lower part and/or said bearing shell upper part has tolerance-compensating slots in said core.
- 10. A bearing shell in accordance with claim 4, wherein said bearing shell upper part has cutouts in the pole area.
- 11. A process for manufacturing a bearing shell, the process comprising the steps of:
placing the film into a mold; injecting plastic behind the film to provide a plastic core backing with the film jacketing said core backing at least in some areas of said core backing.
- 12. A process in accordance with claim 11, wherein said core backing is performed according to an injection molding process or according to a low-pressure processing process.
- 13. A process in accordance with claim 11, wherein said film is preformed in a preceding step.
- 14. A process in accordance with claim 11, wherein 1 shaping of said film is performed by said mold.
- 15. A process in accordance with claim 14, wherein a part of said mold shaping said film is heated.
- 16. A ball and socket joint, comprising:
a ball and pin; and a bearing shell comprising a core made of plastic and a film jacketing said core at least in some areas of said core, said ball being disposed in said bearing shell.
