The present invention relates to balloon sculpting. More specifically, the invention relates to a balloon figure resembling a baby and a method for making the same.
Balloon sculpting is a well known form of entertainment provided at various events where balloons, typically, long slender balloons, are twisted and tied into a variety of figures. Although the practice of hiring entertainers who balloon sculpt is very popular, there are many people who enjoy taking a more active approach to entertainment.
Many people find crafts relaxing and enjoyable. Craft activities, where people participate during events, for example, events such as bridal showers or baby showers, are desirable. By combining a easy to do craft along with the fun of balloon sculpting, a sentimental keepsake, such a a balloon baby may be created.

A method for making a balloon baby, comprises the steps of providing a plurality of balloons, including at least two long slender balloons and one round balloon, and providing a hollow container having a top end and bottom end. The first and second long slender balloons and the round balloon are at least partially inflated. The first balloon is twisted to form two balloon segments and a constriction area. The round balloon is attached to the constriction area to form an upper body portion. The second balloon is twisted to form two balloon segments and a constriction area to form a lower body portion. The upper body portion and lower body portion are attached to the container, whereby a balloon baby shape is formed. Additionally, at least two apertures may be provided in each of the top end and bottom end of the container to permit the upper body portion and lower body portion to be attached to the container. A deflated long slender balloon may be tied to the upper body portion and a deflated long slender balloon tied to the lower body portion to provide about equal portions of each end of each deflated long slender balloons to attach the upper body portion and lower body portion to the container by disposing each end of each deflated long slender balloon through the apertures and tying the ends of the balloon together. A third and fourth long slender balloon may be at least partially inflated and disposed on the hollow container to add girth to the balloon baby.
A balloon baby comprises an upper body portion formed from a first long slender balloon being at least partially inflated, the balloon twisted to form two balloon segments and a constriction area, a round balloon being at least partially inflated and attached adjacent to the constriction area of the first balloon. A lower body portion is formed from a second long slender balloon being at least partially inflated, the second balloon twisted to form two balloon segments and a constriction area. A hollow container has a top end and a bottom end, where the upper body portion is attached to the top end adjacent to the constriction area and the lower body portion is attached to the bottom end adjacent to the constriction area. The balloon baby may include at least two apertures disposed in each of the top end and bottom end of the container, whereby said upper body portion and the lower body portion are attached to the container. The balloon baby may also comprise a deflated long slender balloon tied to the upper body portion adjacent to the constriction area and a deflated long slender balloon tied to the lower body portion adjacent to the constriction area, where the deflated long slender balloons are tied so as to provide about equal portions of each end of the deflated long slender balloons, whereby the upper body portion and lower body portion are attached to the container by disposing each end of each of the deflated long slender balloon through an aperture and tying the ends of each deflated long slender balloon together. The balloon baby may also further comprise at least a third and fourth partially inflated long slender balloons disposed adjacent to the hollow container to add girth to the balloon baby.
The balloon baby may further comprise accessories selected from the group consisting of shoes, slippers, socks, mittens, a pacifier, sunglasses, and a robe. The hollow container may be a cardboard box.
A kit for creating a balloon baby, comprises instructions for constructing the balloon baby, a plurality of long slender balloons, at least two of which to be at least partially inflated, a round balloon to be at least partially inflated and attached to one of the partially inflated long slender balloons, and a hollow container having a top end and a bottom end, where the top end will receive an upper body portion for attachment and the bottom end will receive the lower body portion for attachment.

A balloon baby 10 comprises an upper body portion 27 formed from a first long slender balloon 20 at least partially inflated, the balloon 20 is twisted to form two balloon segments 22, 24 and a constriction area 25. A round balloon 30 is at least partially inflated and attached adjacent to the constriction area 25 of the first balloon 20. A lower body portion 28 is formed from a second long slender balloon 20 being at least partially inflated, the second balloon twisted to form two balloon segments 22, 24 and a constriction area 25. A hollow container 40 has a top end 42 and a bottom end 44, where the upper body portion 27 is attached to the top end 42 adjacent to the constriction area 25 and the lower body portion 28 is attached to the bottom end 44 adjacent to the constriction area 24 of the second balloon 20. The balloon baby 10 may include at least two apertures 41, 43 disposed in each of the top end 42 and bottom end 44 of the container 40, whereby said upper body portion 27 and the lower body portion 28 are attached to the container 40. In the preferred embodiment, the apertures 41, 43 are attached to box flaps. The balloon baby 10 may also comprise a deflated long slender balloon 20 tied to the upper body portion 27 adjacent to the constriction area 25 and a deflated long slender balloon 20 tied to the lower body portion 28 adjacent to the constriction area 25, where the deflated long slender balloons 20 are tied so as to provide about equal portions 21, 23 of each end of the deflated long slender balloons 20, whereby the upper body portion 27 and lower body portion 28 are attached to the container 40 by disposing each end of each of the deflated long slender balloon through an aperture 41, 43 and tying the ends of each deflated long slender balloon 21, 23 together. The balloon baby 10 may also further comprise at least a third and fourth partially inflated long slender balloons 50, 60 disposed adjacent to the hollow container 40 to add girth to the balloon baby 10.
The balloon baby may further comprise accessories selected from the group consisting of shoes, slippers 91, socks 92, mittens 93, a pacifier 94, sunglasses 95, and a robe 96.
A method for making a balloon baby 10, comprises the steps of providing a plurality of balloons, including at least two long slender balloons 20 and one round balloon 30, and providing a hollow container 40 having a top end 42 and bottom end 44. The first and second long slender balloons 20 and the round balloon 30 are at least partially inflated. The first balloon 20 is twisted to form two balloon segments 22, 24 and a constriction area 25. The round balloon 30 is attached to the constriction area 25 to form an upper body portion 27. The second balloon 20 is twisted to form two balloon segments 22, 24 and a constriction area 25 to form a lower body portion 28. The upper body portion 27 and lower body portion 28 are attached to the container 40, whereby a balloon baby shape is formed. Additionally, at least two apertures 41, 43 may be provided in each of the top end 42 and bottom end 44 of the container to permit the upper body portion 27 and lower body portion 28 to be attached to the container 40. A deflated long slender balloon 20 may be tied to the upper body portion 27 and a deflated long slender balloon 20 tied to the lower body portion 28 to provide about equal portions 21, 23 of each end of each deflated long slender balloons 20 to attach the upper body portion 27 and lower body portion 28 to the container 40 by disposing each end 21, 23 of each deflated long slender balloon 20 through the apertures 41, 43 and tying the ends of the balloon together. A third and fourth long slender balloon 50, 60 may be at least partially inflated and disposed on the hollow container 40 to add girth to the balloon baby 10.
A kit for creating a balloon baby, comprises instructions (not shown, but disclosed in detail) for constructing the balloon baby 10, a plurality of long slender balloons 20, at least two of which to be at least partially inflated, a round balloon 30 to be at least partially inflated and attached to one of the partially inflated long slender balloons 20, and a hollow container 40 having a top end 42 and a bottom end 44, where the top end 44 will receive an upper body portion 27 for attachment and the bottom end 42 will receive the lower body portion 28 for attachment.
