Claims
- 1. A pressure bandage comprising:
- (a) a bandage comprising a
- (i) sanitary gauze layer to be applied against a wound;
- (ii) a treated compressed cellulose interior layer having a grain overlying said sanitary gauze layer; and
- (iii) an outside layer overlying said sanitary gauze and compressed cellulose interior layers, said outside layer having adhesive wings which apply the bandage to a wound and an access hole punched therethrough and through the compressed cellulose interior layer defining a reservoir, whereby blood from the wound when absorbed through the gauze layer will saturate the compressed cellulose material and thereby expand said cellulose layer against said sanitary gauze and outer layers, thereby applying active pressure to the wound.
- 2. The pressure bandage of claim 1 wherein said compressed cellulose interior layer having a grain layer is impregnated with an antiseptic or hemostatic agent.
- 3. The pressure bandage of claim 1 wherein the grain of the compressed cellulose interior layer extends perpendicular to the plane of the adhesive wings.
- 4. A transdermal patch comprising:
- (a) a bandage comprising:
- (i) a sanitary layer to be applied against the skin;
- (ii) a compressed cellulose interior layer overlying said sanitary layer; and
- (iii) an outside adhesive layer overlying said sanitary and compressed cellulose interior layers and having adhesive wings which apply the bandage to a wound, said outer adhesive layer having an access hole overlying said compressed cellulose interior layer being punched through it which is aligned with the access hole punched through the outer adhesive layer.
- 5. A pressure bandage kit comprising:
- (a) a bandage comprising:
- (i) a sanitary gauze layer to be applied against a wound;
- (ii) a compressed cellulose interior layer overlying said gauze layer; and
- (iii) an outside layer overlying said gauze and compressed cellulose layers for applying the bandage over said wound, said outer layer having an access hole in overlying said compressed cellulose layer and having a hole punched through aligned with the access port so as to create a reservoir whereby a liquid may be introduced into the compressed cellulose material thereby expanding said cellulose layer and thereby applying medication to the wound; and
- (b) a squeeze bottle containing said liquid to be inserted to said bandage through said access hole so as to expand said compressed cellulose.
