The disclosure relates to bath shelves and more particularly pertains to a new bath shelf for attaching to a bar in a bath or shower for holding items on a horizontal surface.
The prior art relates to bath shelves which are inserted into a bath or shower for supporting bath items therein. The prior art discloses, among others, devices which mount to a horizontal or vertical rail for supporting the bath items. However, these devices designate particular cross-sectional shapes for the rails, as these devices are intended for installing a device-specific rail in order to use the device. One such rail-mounted device, for example, discloses a rail having a groove with caddies optionally attach to via associated rotating members which secure each caddy by engaging notches within the groove. Several devices also disclose attaching to and hanging from a shower head pipe. But the prior art does not disclose attaching a shelf to a cylindrical bar such that the shelf is disposed above the cylindrical bar in a horizontal position. Another feature included in the present invention not disclosed by the prior art is a hole positioned in a bath shelf for receiving the neck of a bottle while the shelf supports the bottle, thereby supporting the bottle upside down.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a shelf with a clamp coupled to a bottom surface of the shelf, wherein the shelf is clampable to a cylindrical bar such that said shelf is positioned horizontally. The shelf has an aperture extending through a top surface of the shelf to the bottom surface which is configured for receiving a neck of a bottle while the shelf supports the bottle. The shelf also has a hole configured for receiving one of a toothbrush and a razor therethrough while the shelf supports the one of a toothbrush and a razor. And a slot extends from a front edge of the shelf to the hole, wherein the slot is configured for laterally receiving the one of a toothbrush and a razor into the hole.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
Each of a plurality of circular rings 40 is positioned within the central portion 26 of the shelf 12 and defines an associated aperture 42 of a plurality of apertures 42, wherein each aperture 42 extends 14 through the shelf 12. Each ring 40 has a top side that is coplanar with the top surface 20 of the shelf 12 and a bottom side is coplanar with the bottom surface 22 of the shelf 12. Each ring 40 is configured for receiving a neck 50 of a bottle 48 therethrough, and the shelf 12 is configured for supporting the bottle 48 on the top surface 20 while the neck 50 of the bottle 48 is received through an associated ring 40 of the plurality of rings 40. The plurality of rings 40 comprising a set of three equally sized and shaped rings 40 which are aligned parallel to the back edge 18 of the shelf 12. The set of three rings 40 comprise a center ring 52 and a pair of outer rings 54, wherein the center ring 52 is centered between the pair of ends 14 of the shelf 12 and the pair of outer rings 54 is equidistant from the center ring 52.
A lip 56 is coupled to and extends along the front edge 16 of the shelf 12. The lip 56 extends away from the shelf 12 and is angled upward when the top surface 20 of the shelf 12 faces upward. The lip 56 has a distal end 58 relative to the shelf 12. The central portion 26 of the shelf 12 is centered between the back edge 18 of the shelf 12 and the distal end 58 of the lip 56. Each ring 40 is also centered between the back edge 18 of the shelf 12 and the distal end 58 of the lip 56.
A plurality of equally sized and shaped holes 60 extends through the top surface 20 and the bottom surface 22. Each hole 60 is positioned in the boundary portion 24 of the shelf 12 between the front edge 16 of the shelf 12 and the central portion 26 of the shelf 12. Each hole 60 is configured for receiving one of a toothbrush 62 and a razor therethrough, and the shelf 12 is configured for supporting the one of a toothbrush 62 and a razor while being received through an associated hole 60 of the plurality of holes 60.
The plurality of holes 60 comprises a pair of first holes 64 and a pair of second holes 66. A distance between the pair of first holes 64 is equal to a distance between the pair of second holes 66. Each of the pair of first holes 64 and the pair of second holes 66 is positioned proximate an associated end 14 of the shelf 12, and the plurality of holes 60 is positioned symmetrically about a midpoint of the front edge 16 of the shelf 12. The plurality of holes 60 is also aligned parallel to the back edge 18 of the shelf 12, and each hole 60 is elongated parallel to the back edge 18 of the shelf 12.
Each of a plurality of equally sized and shaped slots 68 extend between the distal end 58 of the lip 56 and an associated hole 60 of the plurality of holes 60. Each slot 68 has a width parallel to the back edge 18 of the shelf 12 less than a width of the associated hole 60 parallel to the back edge 18 of the shelf 12. Each slot 68 is configured for laterally receiving the one of a toothbrush 62 and a razor therethrough.
Each of a pair of clamps 70 is constructed of a resilient, elastic material and is coupled to and extends away from the bottom surface 22 of the shelf 12. Each clamp 70 is coupled to the boundary portion 24 of the shelf 12 and is positioned proximate an associated end 14 of the shelf 12. The pair of clamps 70 is aligned parallel to the back edge 18 of the shelf 12 and centered between the back edge 18 of the shelf 12 and the distal end 58 of the lip 56. Each clamp 70 is arcuate and is configured for elastically clamping to a cylindrical bar 72 whereby the shelf 12 is coupled to the cylindrical bar 72 in a horizontal position. The shelf 12 is configured for supporting an item 74 on the top surface 20 when in the horizontal position. “Horizontal position” as used in the detailed description and the claims includes all positions where the item 74 is supportable on the top surface 20.
In use, the device 10 is elastically clamped to a cylindrical bar 72 such that the shelf 12 is coupled to the cylindrical bar 72 in a horizontal position. Then, an item 74 may be supported on the top surface 20 of the shelf 12, a bottle 48 may be inserted into a ring 40 of said plurality of rings 40 such that the shelf 12 supports the bottle 48, and one of the toothbrush 62 and the razor may be inserted laterally through a slot 68 of the plurality of slots 68 and into an associated hole 60 of said plurality of holes 60 whereby the shelf 12 supports the one of a toothbrush 62 and a razor as desired. Liquid which falls onto the shelf 12 will drain through the grating 28 of the central portion 26 of the shelf 12.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
