Claims
- 1. An improved keyboard comprising:
an array of keys arranged in predetermined rows on the keyboard, each said key of the array of keys having a concave surface; and a partition around each said key of the array, each said partition extending above the height of each said key so and to guide a user's finger to an appropriate key and to avoid actuation of an adjacent key.
- 2. The improved keyboard of claim 1 wherein said array of keys includes only one key for any one function.
- 3. The improved keyboard of claim 2 wherein the array of keys includes fewer than one hundred and twenty four keys.
- 4. The improved keyboard of claim 3 wherein the array of keys includes approximately seventy-seven keys.
- 5. The improved keyboard of claim 1 having dimensions of approximately nineteen inches in width and approximately seven and one half inches in height.
- 6. The improved keyboard of claim 1 wherein the array of keys includes standard character keys and control keys.
- 7. The improved keyboard of claim 6 wherein each said control key in the array of keys is approximately one inch in height and approximately one and three-fourths inches in width.
- 8. The improved keyboard of claim 6 wherein each said standard character key in the array of keys is approximately three-fourths inch wide and approximately one inch in height.
- 9. The improved keyboard of claim 1 wherein said partition extends approximately one-eighth inch above the height of each said key.
- 10. The improved keyboard of claim 1 further comprising a space bar.
- 11. An improved computer keyboard to facilitate usage by persons with reduced manual dexterity, comprising:
an array of keys arranged in predetermined rows on the keyboard, each said key of the array being approximately one inch high and approximately one and three-fourths inches wide, each said key having a depression formed in the surface thereof, said array of keys including only one key capable of performing a function; and a partition around each said key of the array, each said partition extending approximately one-eighth inch above the surface of the key so as to guide the persons finger to an appropriate key and to prevent actuation of an adjacent key.
- 12. The improved keyboard of claim 11 wherein the array of key includes approximately seventy-seven keys.
- 13. The improved keyboard of claim 11 having dimensions of approximately nineteen inches in width and approximately seven and one half inches in height.
- 14. The improved key board of claim 11 wherein each said key in the array of keys is approximately one inch in height and approximately one and three-fourths inches in width.
- 15. The improved keyboard of claim 11 further comprising a space bar.
- 16. A computer keyboard to facilitate usage by a user having impaired use of the hands and fingers comprising:
an array of keys arranged in a predetermined pattern on the keyboard, said array of keys including only one key capable of performing a given function; and barrier means around each key in the array of keys for guiding the user's finger to an appropriate key and to prevent actuation of an adjacent key.
- 17. The computer keyboard of claim 16 wherein the array of keys includes seventy seven or fewer keys.
- 18. The improved keyboard of claim 1 wherein said keyboard incorporates an integral track ball.
