Claims
- 1. An article of manufacture comprising a thin walled molded polyolefin container containing a solid block of thermoplastic material essentially filling the void of the container wherein said molded polyolefin container has a melting point below the flowable temperature of said thermoplastic material and further wherein said container has a thinnest wall thickness of about 0.1 mm to less than 0.25 mm.
- 2. The article according to claim 1 wherein said thermoplastic material has a Brookfield Thermosel Viscosity of about 1 to 200,000 mPa.multidot.s at 190.degree. C. and a Ring and Ball Softening Point (RBSP) between about 80 to 160.degree. C.
- 3. The article according to claim 1 wherein said thermoplastic material is selected from the group consisting of polyolefins, waxes, hot-melt adhesives, and asphalt compositions.
- 4. The article according to claim 3 wherein said thermoplastic material is an asphalt composition and said polyolefin container is compatible with the asphalt composition.
- 5. The article according to claim 3 wherein said polyolefins are selected from the group consisting of polypropylene homopolymers, and propylene alpha-olefin copolymers comprising alpha olefin comonomer units having about 2 to 10 carbon atoms.
- 6. The article according to claim 1 wherein said polyolefin comprises a polyolefin selected from the group consisting of polypropylene homopolymers, propylene-ethylene copolymers, polypropylene impact copolymers, filled polypropylenes, polypropylene blends, and a mixture thereof.
- 7. The article according to claim 1 wherein said polyolefin is a polypropylene homopolymer.
- 8. The article according to claim 1 with said thin walled molded polyolefin container further comprising a thickest wall thickness of no greater than about 2.0 mm.
- 9. The article according to claim 8 wherein the thickest wall thickness is no greater than about 1.0 mm.
- 10. The article according to claim 1 wherein said molded polyolefin container has an outer diameter of about 10 to 100 cm and the container void has a volume of about 1 to 250 liters.
- 11. The article according to claim 1 wherein said polyolefin container has a melting point equal to a temperature between about 1 to 50.degree. C. below the flowable temperature of said thermoplastic material.
- 12. The article according to claim 1 wherein said thermoplastic material is molten at said flowable temperature.
- 13. The article according to claim 1 wherein said flowable temperature of said thermoplastic material is less than about y.degree. C. wherein y is equal to 2.7 times the melting point of said polyolefin container in degrees Celsius, times a nominal wall thickness of said polyolefin container in millimeters, plus 25.
- 14. The article according to claim 1 wherein said flowable temperature of said thermoplastic material is less than about y.degree. C. wherein y is equal to 2.65 times the melting point of said polyolefin container in degrees Celsius, times a nominal wall thickness of said polyolefin container in millimeters, plus 47.7.
