Abstract
A device for burning marijuana cigarette end portions is disclosed. The device includes a main body, a smokestack, a screen, a fan, and one or more batteries to power the fan.
Description
FIELD

The present subject matter is generally related to select smoker devices and, more particularly, is directed to a battery-operated device for burning cigarette ends (e.g., marijuana cigarette ends). The present subject matter is still more particularly directed to a portable battery-operated device designed for burning the marijuana cigarette end portions and emitting the smoke.


BACKGROUND

At the time many states of the federal government stopped prosecuting individuals for possession or sale of medical marijuana, if those individual complied with the sales regulations of those states, a new industry emerged: Medical Cannabis, which is an industry based upon cannabis and select cannabinoids prescribed by medical doctors to patents for pain relief and other maladies including but not limited to nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy or patient therapies including but not limited to appetite improvement aids for HIV/AIDS patients and/or chronic pain or muscle spasm reduction including spasm-suppression agents, often producing problems including dosage and dosage control. For example, cigarettes, controlled by the cigarette industry, contain, from tip-to-filter, about one mg nicotine each, an amount typically addictive to people. Since there are no FDA or any other governmental agency-overseen rules and/or regulations, or other measures, to control the amount of medical cannabis and cannabinoids delivered by use of a vaporizers, atomizer, and so forth, US published application 2019/0038856 to Boone, Jr. is directed to a medical cannabis and cannabinoids device designed to deliver only a doctor's prescribed dosage, only at prescribed times, and only to authorized users.


Additional curative methods for dispensing medical marijuana are disclosed in U.S. Pat. Nos. 10,064,950; 9,827,322; 9,827,282; and 9,827,281, all in the name of Shabana Naheed. These patents describe methods, to treat cancer, which involve boiling blended cannabis material with oil; collecting oil infused with cannabis; targeting cancerous cells in a body; and injecting cannabis-infused oil into body portions having cancerous cells.


To-date, thirty-seven states, four territories, and the District of Columbia, in the United States have legalized cannabis use for medical purposes. The medical marijuana industry subsequently gave way to a limited legalized “recreational use” of marijuana. In the United States, recreational use of cannabis has been legalized in twenty-one states, two territories, and the District of Columbia. U.S. Pat. No. 11,291,238 to Leadbeater et al., for example, discloses a cannabis cigarette preparation system which includes an indexing module configured to accept a plurality of pre-rolled cones. Each cone has a sealed end and an open end. The system, which moves the pre-rolled cones through a plurality of stations, includes, at a first station, a filling module configured to dispense a portion of cannabis shake material into the open end of each of the pre-rolled cones to form loosely filled cones. Then, at a second station, the system compresses the cannabis shake material, contained within each of the loosely filled cones, for forming tamped cones. The system further includes a de-clogging module and a pinching module. The pinching module is dimensioned and configured to pinch-twist, at a third station, the open end of each pre-rolled cone, for producing rolled marijuana cigarettes for recreational use.


US published application 2020/0383376 to Scherr discloses a modular marijuana cigarette support system for securing a burnable substrate and having an interchangeable body, such as a nicotine-based cigarette or a cannabis-based joint. The interchangeable body, supported by a base, is protected at its distal end by a thermal protection barrier.


In areas of the country where recreational marijuana has been legalized, no businesses could be found that sell recreational marijuana products which solve certain problems I have noted. For instance, for those living where recreational marijuana use has been legalized, it would be desirable to not experience burned fingers resulting from such recreational use. It would further be desirable to know that essentially 100% of the marijuana product is burned after recreational use. Prior art doesn't solve these problems.


SUMMARY

A device for burning marijuana cigarette end portions includes a main body, a smokestack, a screen, a fan, and a source, e.g., one or more batteries, to power the fan.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Referring to FIGS. 1-3, a device 10 for burning marijuana cigarette end portions in accordance with the present subject matter shall now be described in detail. The device 10, preferably portable, includes a main body 12, a smokestack 14, a screen 20, and a fan 26. The screen 20 is preferably a small round screen and the fan 26 is preferably a mini fan. Power sources including household 110-120 volts alternating current (AC), direct current (DC) power sources, conventional AC/DC converters, conventional AC/battery powered adapters. Also, one or more batteries 28 could be used to power the device 10.


The main body 12 defines an internal channel 100 (FIG. 3) having an inlet end 110 and an outlet end 120. The smokestack 14 defines a hollow interior 130. The smokestack 14 has an inlet end portion 140 and an outlet end portion 150. The inlet and outlet end portions 140 and 150 communicate with the hollow interior 130 of stack 14. The outlet end portion 150 may include a radially outwardly flared end 160, providing smokestack 14 with a chimney-effect feature, if desired. Main body 12 has an upper surface 200 in which a pair of spaced apart cavities have been formed. (See the “How to Make” section.) A first cavity or receptacle 24 is located at the outlet end 120 of the air flow channel 100 of the main body 12. The first cavity or receptacle 24 is dimensioned and configured to snugly receive the smokestack inlet end portion 140 (FIG. 3). A second cavity or bowl 18, is located at the inlet end 110 of the air flow channel 100. The screen 20 is dimensioned and configured for supporting one or more marijuana cigarette end portions—also called “roaches” (not shown)—on an upper surface thereof. The second cavity or bowl 18 of the main body 12 is dimensioned and configured for supporting an underside surface of the screen 20. The mini fan 26 is located centrally within the hollow interior 130 of the smokestack 14 for causing, when powered, a stream of air to flow into the inlet end 110 and thereafter through the hollow channel 100 of main body 12, from the inlet 110 to the outlet 120, and thereafter, slowly through hollow interior 130, finally exiting the outlet end portion 150 of the smokestack 14, for producing smoke and for creating an environment. The smoke can be inhaled without the need for placing a user's mouth on the product. Thus, it can be safely shared and used by multiple persons at, for example, a party.


The device 10 for burning marijuana cigarette end portions of the present subject matter includes a switch 22 operatively connected, using one or more wires 30, between the power source 28 and fan 26, for enabling the fan 26 to be switched “off” and/or “on.”


The device 10 for burning marijuana cigarette end portions of the present subject matter includes a threaded fastener 16 having a shank 210 (FIGS. 2, 3) of predetermined width and length and a head 220 (FIG. 2) having a width (i.e., diameter) greater than the width (i.e., diameter) of the shank 210 (FIGS. 2, 3). The main body 12 includes a through bore 230 (an end of which is shown in FIG. 2); and the inlet end portion 140 of the smokestack 14 includes a recess 240 (to receive the end of threaded fastener 16). The recess 240 and the through bore 230 (FIG. 2) are co-aligned (FIG. 3). The through bore 230 is sized for enabling the shank 210 of the threaded fastener 16 (but not the head 220) to pass through the bore 230, so that an end portion 250 (FIG. 2) of shank 210 is received within the recess 240, for removably securing the smokestack 14 to main body 12. The treaded fastener 16, in embodiments, can be of so-called “Phillips screw design” (FIG. 2).


The second cavity 18 can resemble (FIG. 3) a hemispherical depression or bowl formed in the upper surface 200 of main body 12. The device 10 for burning marijuana cigarette end portions, in accordance with the present subject matter, can also include a spherical component 32 sized to be spaced above the marijuana cigarette end portions (not shown) atop screen 20. Spherical component 32 can include a through bore 34 to permit air into the cavity 18; and bore 34 can be tapered for holding a marijuana cigarette or cigar (colloquially known as a “blunt”).


How to Make

First, a mahogany wood block of 1.750 inch-square hard maple is obtained, set up in a lathe, and shaped an outside diameter, to make the smokestack. Next the ends are dressed, and center drilled. Next, the mahogany wood block is taken, and clamped it in a milling machine, to form a first cavity dimensioned and configured to receive the smokestack, then used various tools, well known to carpenters, to form a second cavity or bowl for the main body. Then turning the block (which would become the main body) vertical, a connecting hole is drilled between the bowl and the first cavity or “receptacle” for the stack. Next re-positioning the block, select cavities are made for both the switch and the battery. Next, a hole is formed to be “passthrough” for the wires, and assembly can then follow.


How to Use

Hold the device for burning marijuana cigarette end portions in your hand. Load the bowl with one or more, preferably several, marijuana cigarette end portions (also called roaches). Next, move the switch to its “on” position, to activate the fan and light the marijuana cigarette end portions (or roaches) in the bowl with a match or a lighter. Enjoy!


Also, the device of the present subject matter can be used to burn any flammable tobacco product such, as but not limited to, pipe or cigarette tobacco. In this way, the device can be used in a medical setting, to administer relief to the infirm who cannot smoke directly, to get the benefits of marijuana or tobacco.


Alternative, Changes, and/or Modifications

What has been illustrated and described in this patent specification is a device for burning marijuana cigarette end portions. While the present subject matter has been illustrated according to a single embodiment, the present subject matter is not limited to that embodiment. On the contrary, many alternatives, changes, and/or modifications will become apparent to a person of ordinary skill in the art (“POSITA”) after this patent specification has been reviewed in connection with the associated FIGS. Therefore, all such alternatives, changes, and/or modifications are to be viewed as forming a part of the present subject matter insofar as they fall within the spirit and scope of appended claims.

Claims
  • 1. A powered device for burning cigarette end portions, comprising: a main body defining an internal channel having an inlet end and an outlet end;a smokestack defining a hollow interior, wherein the smokestack has an inlet end portion and an outlet end portion communicating with the hollow interior, wherein the main body has an upper surface defining a pair of spaced apart cavities, wherein a first cavity located at the vapor flow channel outlet end is dimensioned and configured to receive the smokestack inlet end portion, wherein a second cavity is located at the channel inlet end;a screen dimensioned and configured for supporting one or more cigarette end portions on an upper surface thereof, wherein the main body second cavity is dimensioned and configured for supporting an underside surface of the screen;a fan disposed within the smokestack hollow interior for causing a stream of air to flow from the second cavity to the smokestack outlet end portion; anda source to power the fan.
  • 2. The powered device of claim 1, wherein the source includes at least one battery.
  • 3. The powered device of claim 1, further including a switch operatively connected between the power source and the fan for enabling the fan to be switched off and on.
  • 4. The powered device of claim 1, further including a threaded fastener having a shank of predetermined width and length and a head having a width greater than the width of the shank, wherein the main body defines a through bore, wherein the smokestack inlet end portion includes a recess, wherein the recess and the through bore are co-aligned, wherein the through bore is dimensioned for enabling the shank of the threaded fastener but not the head to pass therethrough, wherein an end portion of the shank is received in the recess for removably securing the smokestack to the main body.
  • 5. The powered device of claim 4, wherein the threaded fastener is a woodscrew.
