Claims
- 1. A bearinged support for use for holding an item such as a gymnast comprising a structural member provided for encircling said item, said structural member being resiliently flexible and having upper and lower edges, a series of keepers provided spacedly around the proximate upper and lower edges of said structural member, a pair of races, one of each race being held by the keepers associated with the respective upper and lower member edges, at least a pair of bearings operatively associated with the races of said support, each bearing comprising a pair of rotatable members forming a peripheral configuration engageable with the upper and lower races, each pair of members being rotatable about a common axis and capable of simultaneously turning in opposite directions, a shaft having the members rotatably mounted thereon providing a common axis about which the said members turn, and bearing means arranged intermediate the rotatable members and their shaft to facilitate the turning of said members therearound.
- 2. The invention of claim 1 wherein said members are capable of counter rotation regardless of the spatial orientation undertaken by the support during usage.
- 3. The invention of claim 2 wherein the first rotatable member of each bearing capable of turning upon one of said upper and lower race, and the other rotatable member capable of turning upon the other of said upper and lower race.
- 4. The invention of claim 3 and including said bearing being of the counter rotating type wherein one of said race contacting rotatable member is capable of turning in one direction with the other race contacting rotatable member capable of simultaneously turning in an opposite direction.
- 5. The invention of claim 4 and including at least one additional bearing means arranged intermediate each pair of rotatable members forming a bearing to facilitate the turning of said members relative to each other.
- 6. The invention of claim 4 wherein each rotatable member comprises a roller.
- 7. The invention of claim 6 wherein said bearing means comprises ball bearings.
- 8. The invention of claim 6 wherein said bearing means comprises roller bearings.
- 9. The invention of claim 5 wherein said additional bearing means comprises ball bearings.
- 10. The invention of claim 5 wherein said additional bearing means comprises roller bearings.
- 11. The invention of claim 1 wherein said structural member is separable to allow its installation upon the item, and fastening means operatively associated with said member to secure its separate ends together as during usage.
- 12. The invention of claim 11 wherein said structural member is formed as a band.
- 13. The invention of claim 12 wherein said band is formed of spring steel.
- 14. The invention of claim 12 wherein said series of keepers are secured proximate the upper and lower edges of the said band.
- 15. The invention of claim 11 wherein said races are slidingly embraced by their respective keepers.
- 16. The invention of claim 15 wherein one of said race and its retaining keepers are formed having guides, the other of said race and its retaining keepers including integral guide mating grooves, the said guides disposed for sliding engagement within its contiguous mating grooves to allow relative movement between the guides and grooves as the structural member of the support is separated.
- 17. The invention of claim 4 wherein there are at least two pairs of bearings arranged to either side of the structural member, each pair of bearings being spaced apart a fixed distance, an extension from each bearing shaft, and a link pivotally connecting to the extensions of each shaft of a pair of bearings.
- 18. The invention of claim 1 wherein there are a plurality of bearing pairs spacedly arranged around the structural member.
- 19. The invention of claim 17 and including a swivel pivotally securing to the approximate midpoint of each link.
- 20. The invention of claim 19 and including a spanner hingedly connected between two pairs of the bearings as arranged to either side of the structural member, said spanner spacing the pairs of bearings apart a fixed distance in their movement around the said structural member.
- 21. The invention of claim 20 wherein said spanner hingedly connects with one of the extension and link associated with each pair of bearings.
- 22. The invention of claim 1 wherein said structural member and keepers are integral and being formed of the same material.
- 23. The invention of claim 22 wherein said material is a polymer.
- 24. The invention of claim 22 including there being a series of spaces between the said integral keepers to enhance the flexibility of the structural member.
- 25. The invention of claim 1 and including a base integrally securing the said keepers together, said keepers and base being integrally formed, and a pair of upper and lower guides integrally formed on the back of the said base and provided for holding the structural member thereto.
- 26. The invention of claim 25 including there being a series of spaces between the integral keepers to enhance the flexibility of the structural member.
