Claims
- 1. A method for fixing at least one bearing in place in a bearing retainer having at least one depression for receiving the bearing comprising:
positioning the at least one bearing in the at least one depression; providing an elastic element which acts in the axial direction on the at least one bearing either before or after the at least one bearing is positioned in the at least one depression so that the elastic element is supported on the at least one bearing in a first axial direction; and deforming a partial area of the bearing retainer so that the deformed partial area of the bearing retainer supports the elastic element in a second axial direction which extends opposite the first axial direction.
- 2. The method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the partial area of the bearing retainer is pressed during deformation with sufficient strength against the elastic element to produce a predetermined prestress in the elastic element.
- 3. The method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the elastic element is provided on the at least one bearing as a shaped body.
- 4. The method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the elastic element is provided on the at least one bearing in a liquid or paste form.
- 5. The method in accordance with claim 1, including vulcanizing the elastic element on the at least one bearing.
- 6. The method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the elastic element is provided on a shoulder of the at least one bearing.
- 7. The method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the elastic element is provided on the at least one bearing before the at least one bearing is placed in the at least one depression.
- 8. The method in accordance with claim 1, wherein the elastic element is provided on the at least one bearing after the at least one bearing is placed in the at least one depression.
- 9. A method for fixing at least one bearing in place in a bearing retainer having at least one depression for receiving the bearing comprising:
positioning the at least one bearing in the at least one depression; providing an elastic element adjacent a shoulder formed on the at least one bearing either before or after the at least one bearing is positioned in the at least one depression; and deforming a portion of the bearing retainer to displace material of the bearing retainer and form an inwardly directed ridge of the bearing retainer overlying the elastic element so that the elastic element is positioned between the inwardly directed ridge and the shoulder.
- 10. The method in accordance with claim 9, wherein the elastic element is provided on the at least one bearing as a shaped body.
- 11. The method in accordance with claim 9, wherein the elastic element is provided on the at least one bearing in a liquid or paste form.
- 12. The method in accordance with claim 9, including vulcanizing the elastic element on the at least one bearing.
- 13. The method in accordance with claim 9, wherein the elastic element is provided on the at least one bearing before the at least one bearing is placed in the at least one depression.
- 14. The method in accordance with claim 9, wherein the elastic element is provided on the at least one bearing after the at least one bearing is placed in the at least one depression.
- 15. A bearing arrangement comprising a bearing retainer having at least one depression in which is positioned a bearing, a portion of the bearing retainer overlapping a portion of the bearing to form an interlocking connection between the bearing retainer and the bearing in an axial direction, and an elastic element arranged in an area of the overlap of the bearing and the bearing retainer, and supported on the bearing in a first axial direction while being supported on the bearing retainer in a second axial direction opposite to the first axial direction.
- 16. The bearing arrangement in accordance with claim 15, wherein the at least one bearing has a shoulder extending around its exterior diameter that receives the elastic element.
- 17. The bearing arrangement in accordance with claim 15, wherein the elastic element is ring-shaped.
- 18. The bearing arrangement in accordance with claim 15, wherein the elastic element possesses a substantially figure eight shape.
- 19. The bearing arrangement in accordance with claim 15, wherein the elastic element is made of metal or plastic.
- 20. A bearing arrangement comprising a bearing retainer having at least one depression in which is positioned a bearing, the bearing including an inner ring, an outer ring and at least one rolling element positioned between the inner and outer rings, the outer ring including a shoulder, the bearing retainer including a ridge extending inwardly towards the outer ring and positioned in overlapping relation to the shoulder, and an elastic element positioned between the shoulder and the ridge.
- 21. The bearing arrangement in accordance with claim 20, wherein the elastic element is ring-shaped.
- 22. The bearing arrangement in accordance with claim 20, wherein the elastic element possesses a substantially figure eight shape.
- 23. The bearing arrangement in accordance with claim 20, wherein the elastic element is made of metal or plastic.
