Abstract
A bed covering system prevents sheets or other bed linens from being displaced while a bed is slept or rested in. A first layer such as a fitted sheet is attached to a second layer such as a flat sheet along the bottom edge and prevents the displacement of the first layer with respect to the second layer.
Description
BACKGROUND
1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates generally to bedding systems, and more specifically, to a bed covering system for ensuring that the cloths, linens, sheets blankets or other bedding remain in the area of the bed and are easily replaceable after use.


2. Description of Related Art

Bedding systems are well known in the art and are effective means to provide comfortable placed where a person can rest or sleep. For example, FIG. 1 depicts a conventional bedding set system 101 having a fitted sheet 103 and flat sheet 105 that go over and cover a mattress 107 as depicted by motions A and B. During use, the fitted sheet 103 provides a covering for the mattress 107 upon which a person rests and is snuggled passed over the corners thereof. The flat sheet 105 is placed over the fitted sheet 103 and tucked under the mattress along the bottom edge 109.


One of the problems commonly associated with system 101 is its limited efficiency. For example, when a person rests using the bedding set system 101 the flat sheet 105 and even the fitted sheet 103 are displaced to the extent that they are no longer attached to the mattress 107. This displacement requires that effort be made to replace the flat sheet 105 or the fitted sheet 103.


Accordingly, although great strides have been made in the area of bedding set systems, many shortcomings remain.

While the system and method of use of the present application is susceptible to various modifications and alternative forms, specific embodiments thereof have been shown by way of example in the drawings and are herein described in detail. It should be understood, however, that the description herein of specific embodiments is not intended to limit the invention to the particular embodiment disclosed, but on the contrary, the intention is to cover all modifications, equivalents, and alternatives falling within the spirit and scope of the present application as defined by the appended claims.


DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Illustrative embodiments of the system and method of use of the present application are provided below. It will of course be appreciated that in the development of any actual embodiment, numerous implementation-specific decisions will be made to achieve the developer's specific goals, such as compliance with system-related and business-related constraints, which will vary from one implementation to another. Moreover, it will be appreciated that such a development effort might be complex and time-consuming, but would nevertheless be a routine undertaking for those of ordinary skill in the art having the benefit of this disclosure.


The system and method of use in accordance with the present application overcomes one or more of the above-discussed problems commonly associated with conventional bedding set systems. Specifically, the invention of the present application prevents complete displacement of the sheets used to cover a mattress when slept in. This and other unique features of the system and method of use are discussed below and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.


The system and method of use will be understood, both as to its structure and operation, from the accompanying drawings, taken in conjunction with the accompanying description. Several embodiments of the system are presented herein. It should be understood that various components, parts, and features of the different embodiments may be combined together and/or interchanged with one another, all of which are within the scope of the present application, even though not all variations and particular embodiments are shown in the drawings. It should also be understood that the mixing and matching of features, elements, and/or functions between various embodiments is expressly contemplated herein so that one of ordinary skill in the art would appreciate from this disclosure that the features, elements, and/or functions of one embodiment may be incorporated into another embodiment as appropriate, unless described otherwise.


The preferred embodiment herein described is not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise form disclosed. It is chosen and described to explain the principles of the invention and its application and practical use to enable others skilled in the art to follow its teachings.


Referring now to the drawings wherein like reference characters identify corresponding or similar elements throughout the several views, FIG. 2 depicts a perspective view of a bed covering system in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present application. It will be appreciated that system 201 overcomes one or more of the above-listed problems commonly associated with conventional bedding set systems.


In the contemplated embodiment, system 201 includes a sheet assembly 203 configured to fit over and on a mattress 107. The sheet assembly 203 including a first layer 205 attached to a second layer 207. The first layer 205 is contemplated to act as a fitted sheet 103 but any type or configuration of bedding is contemplated.


The first layer 205 being flexibly attached to the second layer 207 via a joint 301 as seen in FIG. 3. It is contemplated that the joint 301 is along the entirety of the bottom edge 303 of the second layer 207 and a portion of the bottom edge 305 of the first layer. It is also contemplated that the joint 301 could also be along the sides of either the first layer 205 or second layer 207 or any other configuration that serves to attach the first layer 205 to the second layer 207


It should be appreciated that one of the unique features believed characteristic of the present application is that joint 301 limits the displacement of the second layer 207 with respect to the first layer 205 and that the two cannot be separated during normal use.


Referring now to FIG. 4 an alternative embodiment of the sheet assembly 203 is depicted. Embodiment 401 including a first layer 403 attached to a second layer 405 and a third layer 407 via joins 409 and 411 respectively. It will be appreciated that any number of layers could be used and that the embodiments 203 and 401 are given as examples only and not intended to limit the scope of the idea.


It is further contemplated that other types of bed linens could be included in the system as depicted in FIG. 5. Embodiment 501 including a first layer 503 having a pocket 505 attached neat the top end 509 thereof. It is contemplated that the pocket 505 is configured to hold a pillow or the like so that it remains fixed with respect to the first layer 503. The embodiment 501 also including a second layer 507 attached near the bottom end 511 of the first layer 503.


The preferred method of use of the system 201 is depicted in FIG. 6. Method 601 including placing the joint edge of the first layer near the bottom of a mattress 603, placing the sheet assembly on and over the mattress 605, arranging the second layer or next layer to suit the person using the system 607, resting on the covered mattress 609 and replacing any layers not in place after resting 611.


The particular embodiments disclosed above are illustrative only, as the embodiments may be modified and practiced in different but equivalent manners apparent to those skilled in the art having the benefit of the teachings herein. It is therefore evident that the particular embodiments disclosed above may be altered or modified, and all such variations are considered within the scope and spirit of the application. Accordingly, the protection sought herein is as set forth in the description. Although the present embodiments are shown above, they are not limited to just these embodiments, but are amenable to various changes and modifications without departing from the spirit thereof.

Claims
  • 1. A bed covering system comprising: a sheet assembly including:a first layer flexibly attached to at least a second layer along at least some portion of the bottom edge thereof;wherein the first and second layer are configured to cover a bed in some fashion.
  • 2. The system of claim 1 wherein a pocket is attached near the top end of the at least one layer.
  • 3. The system of claim 1 wherein the number of layers is 3.
  • 4. The method of preventing displacement of bedding during use given the system of claim 1, comprising: placing the joint edge of the first layer near the bottom of a mattress;placing the sheet assembly on and over the mattress;arranging the second layer or next layer to suit the person using the system;resting on the covered mattress; andreplacing any layers not in place after resting.
