The disclosure relates to bed skirt devices and more particularly pertains to a new bed skirt device for enhancing the ornamental appeal of a bed. The device includes a fitted sheet that is positionable around a box spring of a bed and a skirt attached to the fitted sheet. The skirt hangs downwardly along the box spring when the fitted sheet is positioned around the box spring. Additionally, the skirt is formed into a plurality of pleats to enhance the ornamental appearance of the box spring.
The prior art relates to bed skirt devices including a variety of fitted sheets that each has a means of fastening for securing the fitted sheets around a mattress or a box spring of a bed and in some instances includes a skirt that is attachable to the fitted sheet. In one particular instance the prior art discloses a bed skirt device that includes an elastomeric surround that extends around a box spring of a bed. In no instance does the prior art disclose a fitted sheet for a box spring which includes a skirt that is attached to the fitted sheet.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a box spring of a bed and a fitted sheet that is positionable around the box spring. A skirt is attached to the fitted sheet such that the skirt hangs downwardly when the fitted sheet is positioned around the box spring. The skirt is formed into a plurality of ruffles to enhance the ornamental appeal of the box spring when the fitted sheet is positioned around the box spring.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
An elastomeric band 32 is attached to the distal edge 22 of the perimeter panel 20 of the fitted sheet 16. The elastomeric band 32 biases the distal edge 22 to close upon itself thereby facilitating the perimeter panel 20 of the fitted sheet 16 to wrap around a bottom 34 of the box spring 12 for retaining the fitted sheet 16 on the box spring 12. A skirt 36 is attached to the fitted sheet 16 such that the skirt 36 hangs downwardly when the fitted sheet 16 is positioned around the box spring 12. Furthermore, the skirt 36 is formed into a plurality of ruffles 38 to enhance the ornamental appeal of the box spring 12 when the fitted sheet 16 is positioned around the box spring 12.
The skirt 36 has an upper edge 40 and a lower edge 42; the upper edge 40 of the skirt 36 is attached to an intersection between the upper panel 18 and the perimeter panel 20 of the fitted sheet 16. In this way the skirt 36 hangs downwardly along the perimeter panel 20 when the fitted sheet 16 is positioned around the box spring 12. Additionally, the skirt 36 extends along the first lateral side 28 and the second lateral side 30 and the back side 26 of the perimeter panel 20 of the fitted sheet 16. The skirt 36 does not extend along the front side 24 of the perimeter panel 20 to accommodate a headboard 44 of the bed 14.
In an alternative embodiment 46 shown in
In use, the fitted sheet 16 is positioned around the box spring 12 such that the skirt 36 hangs downwardly along the box spring 12. In this way the skirt 36 is secured to the box spring 12 in a manner that makes it impossible for them to fall off. Thus, the ruffles 38 enhance the ornamental appearance of the bed 14 for an extended duration of time. The fitted sheet 16 and the skirt 36 can be removed from the box spring 12 at any time for laundering.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
