The present invention relates to a bedding apparatus. More specifically, the present invention provides a comforter that has a pair of duvets that may be disengaged from one another via a plurality of fasteners.
When an individual is sharing a bed with another person, the two people often have different preferences when they sleep. Often times people will use a comforter large enough to be placed over the entire bed and to keep themselves and their sleeping partner warm while they sleep. However, each person might prefer a different amount of coverage from a comforter on their body. If an individual does not have their preferred sleeping environment, they may experience a lot of discomfort while they sleep. That discomfort can be disruptive to the individual while they sleep and may result in the individual not receiving a full night's sleep. Such a disturbance during sleep may result in an individual experiencing fatigue or sleep deprivation.
Specifically, sleeping partners may disagree on a desired temperature for sleeping during the night. Typically, one partner might want to have a cooler temperature when they sleep, and the other might prefer to sleep in a warmer environment. Thus, if a comforter or other type of blanket is placed upon the bed, the partner that enjoys the cooler temperature will remove a portion of the comforter from their body. Having the portion of the comforter removed from their body will prevent them from becoming uncomfortable or overheated while they sleep, thus limiting the chances that they suffer from sleep deprivation or any type of fatigue due to a lack of sleep. However, if one individual is removing the portion of the comforter from their body, they may shift and maneuver the comforter in such a way that it may result in a disturbance for the other sleeping partner. A resulting disturbance could result in a disturbed sleeping cycle for the other sleeping partner. Moreover, some individuals may want to remove the comforter from the bed entirely. In doing so, their sleeping partner may be left uncomfortable due to a minimal comforter coverage.
For two individuals that are sharing a bed, it is important to have the conditions and environment to fit their needs, while not disrupting the other person's desired sleeping conditions or environment. Both individuals usually need to compromise and find a common ground to appease both of their respective sleeping desires. Providing a means that allows everyone to have their sleeping preference without having to inconvenience their sleeping partner will limit the chances that either of the sleeping partners will suffer from fatigue or sleep deprivation due to discomfort during sleep.
Therefore, there is a defined need amongst the known prior art references for a comforter that allows sleeping partners to independently control the amount of blanket coverage throughout the night without disturbing their partner.
In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of comforters now present in the known art, the present invention provides a new comforter having partially detachable dual duvets that allows sleeping partners to independently control the amount of blanket coverage without disturbing their partner.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a dual duvet comforter that allows multiple users to have use their own desired amount of the comforter regardless of their sleeping partner's desired amount. A plurality of fasteners secures a pair of equal duvets together. In some embodiments of the present invention, the plurality of fasteners extends down two-thirds length of the comforter. As such, the remaining one-third does not include fasteners, thereby allowing for a connecting point between the pair of duvets to prevent them from becoming completely detached from one another. The plurality of fasteners may be selectively disengaged by the user to separate the pair of duvets. When the duvets are separated, one user may adjust the length of the duvet along their body. This includes the duvet being either fully placed over the user, partially placed over the user, or fully off the user.
Another aspect of the present invention is the plurality of fasteners. The plurality of fasteners allows for the dual duvets to be separated and secured from one another. The plurality of fasteners used to for the present invention are designed to be selectively engaged and disengaged by an individual without resulting in an abundance of noise or other annoyance to the other individual.
Although the characteristic features of this invention will be particularly pointed out in the claims, the invention itself and manner in which it may be made and used may be better understood after a review of the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein like numeral annotations are provided throughout.
Reference is made herein to the attached drawings. Like reference numerals are used throughout the drawings to depict like or similar elements of the bedding apparatus. The figures are intended for representative purposes only and should not be limiting in any respect.
The bedding apparatus 11 further comprises a slit 17. The slit 17 extends along the majority of the flexible body 12 length. The slit 17 is centrally disposed along a width of the flexible body 12. The slit 17 is perpendicular with an upper edge 15 of the flexible body 12. In the shown embodiment, the slit 17 begins at the upper edge 15 and terminates at a point two-thirds of the length of the flexible body 12. The remaining one-third defines a lower portion 18. The lower portion 18 is configured to cover the feet of the users during use. Also, the lower portion 18 is continuous along the width of the flexible body 12. The lower portion of the flexible body 12 that does not have the silt 17 extending through it will keep the bedding apparatus 11 connected. The slit 17 is centrally disposed on the flexible body 12, in that the slit 17 defines two equivalent portions. A first portion 13 and a second portion 14 are equivalent in area.
Prior to use, the plurality of fasteners 22 are engaged with a plurality of complementary openings 24 disposed on an inner edge of the first portion. Each fastener disposed on the inner edge 21 of the second portion 14 has a corresponding opening that is disposed on an inner edge of the first portion. Each fastener of the plurality of fasteners 22 will engage with a corresponding opening of the plurality of complementary openings 24 to secure the first portion to the second portion 14. When an individual wants to separate a section of the first portion from the second portion 14, they will selectively disengage the desired number of fasteners from the respective opening. When the plurality of fasteners 22 are selectively disengaged the portion may be folded down the towards the lower portion of the flexible body 12. When the bedding apparatus 11 is in a folded position, a distal edge of placket 23 is aligned with inner edge of the first portion.
The users may selectively disengage and engage the plurality of fasteners 22 disposed along an inner edge 21 from the corresponding openings. When either disengaging or engaging the plurality of fasteners 22, the fasteners utilized are operable with a minimum amount of sound and effort, thereby minimizing the risk of disturbing a sleeping individual. When the plurality of fasteners 22 are disengaged from the corresponding openings, the user may fold the respective portion 19 over the lower portion 18, the lower portion can be folded over onto the remaining half of the flexible body.
It is therefore submitted that the instant invention has been shown and described in what is considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art. With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of the invention, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by the present invention.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention
