Abstract
A bedding sleeve dimensioned to slide over an upper portion of bedding is provided. The bedding sleeve embodies a system and method of providing one bedding cover material for the the upper portion of the bedding and a yet a different bedding cover material for the lower portion of the bedding. The bedding sleeve defines a cavity for receiving the upper portion of the bedding, wherein the opening communicating with the cavity is configured to snuggly engaged the periphery of the bedding in such a way that the bedding sleeve does not move around when in use, even if the bedding has a full sheet cover of another material already attached thereto.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to bedding cover systems and methods and, more particularly, a bedding sleeve dimensioned and adapted to slide over only an upper portion of bedding.


Having a silk or satin cover to sleep on helps keep skin clear and prevents dry hair. Yet some people do not like to sleep on silk or satin sheet. However, current bedding covers offer only an all or nothing proposition. Which is unfortunate as some users who could really benefit resting their upper body on silk or satin sheets (again, to keep skin clear and prevents dry hair), but may not be able to countenance resting on full sheets of this remedial material; though, if another material were used under their lower body, a “half sheet” of the remedial material may be feasible. Currently, such users would have to lay the remedial material sheets along an upper portion of the bedding and carefully lay another material sheet along a lower portion of the bedding in a makeshift manner, wherein there is a good probability that these two disparate sheets will become further spaced apart, jumbled and/or make for an uncomfortable night's sleep.


As can be seen, there is a need for a bedding cover system and method for joining a half sheet to bedding. The joining of the half sheet may be embodied in a bedding sleeve that slides over the upper portion of the bedding, wherein an opening of such a bedding sleeve is biased to urge against the received bedding.


As a result, the bedding sleeve can be of a remedial material, such as silk or satin, used for a user's upper body while sleeping on the bedding, while a full sheet may consist of a material different from the remedial material yet that the user prefers and allows them to countenance the remedial material they otherwise would not be able to tolerate.


Furthermore, having to purchase new sets of linens or bedding covers that are an integrated remedial material half and another half of non-remedial material would be an expensive burden. More ideal, is a half sheet/sleeve that can be slid over one or a plurality of pre-existing full sheets of non-remedial material of the user's choice.


SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In one aspect of the present invention, a bedding cover system provides the following: a bedding sleeve of a sleeve material defining a cavity dimensioned to slidably receive a portion of a bedding; and an elastic band circumscribing an opening periphery of an opening communicating with the cavity, wherein the elastic band is biased in a first condition yet movable to a second condition snuggly engaging a cross-sectional periphery of the bedding.


In another aspect of the present invention, the bedding cover system further includes wherein the first condition defines a geometrical shape with a periphery that is less than said cross-sectional periphery whereby the second condition urges the elastic band against said cross-sectional periphery; a channel along the opening periphery, wherein the elastic band is housed in the channel, wherein the sleeve material is silk or satin, and wherein a distance between the opening periphery and a distal end of the bedding sleeve is between three and four and a half feet.


In yet another aspect of the present invention, a method for providing a remedial material along only an upper portion of a bedding, the method includes the following: applying a full sheet of bedding covering over a bedding; and sliding the bedding cover system of claim 5 over said upper portion of the bedding and a portion of the full sheet, wherein the full sheet is made of material that does not consist of silk or satin material.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.


Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides a bedding sleeve dimensioned to slide over an upper portion of bedding. The bedding sleeve embodies a system and method of providing one bedding cover material for the upper portion of the bedding and a yet a different bedding cover material for the lower portion of the bedding. The bedding sleeve defines a cavity for receiving the upper portion of the bedding, wherein the opening communicating with the cavity is configured to snuggly engaged the periphery of the bedding in such a way that the bedding sleeve does not move around when in use, even if the bedding has a full sheet cover of another material already attached thereto.


Referring now to FIGS. 1 through 4, the present invention may include a bedding sleeve 10 dimensioned and adapted to sheath a portion of bedding 16 so that if a human user were laying on the bedding 16 with their upper body laying on the bedding sleeve 10. The bedding 16 may already have a full sheet 14 covering an entire top surface of the bedding 16. The bedding sleeve 10 may be made of a remedial material, such as satin and/or silk material. The full sheet 14 may be made of another material more desirable to the human user.


The bedding sleeve 10 defines a cavity 20 for slidably receiving and sheathing said portion of bedding 16, and an opening 22 communicates to the cavity 20. Along a periphery 24 of the opening 22 may be a channel 26. The channel 26 may house an elastic band 12. The elastic band 12 may biased is a first condition having a geometrical shape with a periphery that is less than a cross-sectional periphery 30 of said portion of bedding 16 (with or without a full sheet covering 14). Therefore, when engaging said cross-sectional periphery 30, the elastic band 12 in a second condition is urged generally uniformly against said cross-sectional periphery 30, thereby keeping the bedding sleeve 10 secured to said portion of bedding 16.


It should be understood that, though the elastic band 12 is shown along an exterior surface of the bedding sleeve 10/periphery 24, the elastic band 12 may be along an interior surface. Likewise, the channel 26 may be along the inner surface. In other words, the bedding sleeve 10 may be ‘reversible’, so that its surface can be turned inside out so that the exterior surface becomes the interior surface, and vice versa.


Furthermore, the channel 26 is optional and may be replaced with adhesive that keeps the elastic band 12 along the periphery 24. The elastic band 12 may also be interwoven into said opening periphery 24 as long as the bedding sleeve 10 functions as disclosed herein; namely, snuggly engaging the bedding 16 so the bedding sleeve 10 stays in place when in use.


Accordingly, the bedding sleeve 10 may be dimensioned and adapted to cover only approximately half of the bedding/mattress 16—in some embodiments, the bedding sleeve 10 may extend somewhere between two and five feet from the opening periphery 24 to its distal end 32, as illustrated in FIG. 1. Thereby the bedding sleeve 10 may be placed on an upper portion of the bedding/mattress 16. The bedding sleeve 10 may be made of a remedial material, such as silk and satin so that the user who does not want to sleep on a full sheet the remedial material.


A method of using the present invention may include the following. The bedding sleeve 10 disclosed may be provided. The bedding sleeve 10 may be slid over a bedding 16 already have a full sheet 14 covering the bedding 16. The bedding sleeve 10 can be placed on the upper portion of the bedding 16 (as indicated by the bed headboard 18 in FIG. 1). The bedding sleeve 10 is made of a remedial material such as silk, satin, or the like to help with clear skin and keep your hair from drying out. Thereby people who do not like to sleep on silk or satin full sheets can choose their desired material or fabric for the full sheet 14, and then slide the bedding sleeve 10 over that. Additionally, the inventive concept can be used for sofas or any objects that one sleeps on.


It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.

Claims
  • 1. A bedding cover system, comprising: a bedding sleeve of a sleeve material defining a cavity dimensioned to slidably receive a portion of a bedding; andan elastic band circumscribing an opening periphery of an opening communicating with the cavity, wherein the elastic band is biased in a first condition yet movable to a second condition snuggly engaging a cross-sectional periphery of the bedding.
  • 2. The bedding cover system of claim 1, wherein the first condition defines a geometrical shape with a periphery that is less than said cross-sectional periphery whereby the second condition urges the elastic band against said cross-sectional periphery.
  • 3. The bedding cover system of claim 2, further comprising a channel along the opening periphery, wherein the elastic band is housed in the channel.
  • 4. The bedding cover system of claim 3, wherein the sleeve material is silk or satin.
  • 5. The bedding cover system of claim 4, wherein a distance between the opening periphery and a distal end of the bedding sleeve is between three and four and a half feet.
  • 6. A method for providing a remedial material along only an upper portion of a bedding, the method comprising: applying a full sheet of bedding covering over a bedding; andsliding the bedding cover system of claim 5 over said upper portion of the bedding and a portion of the full sheet, wherein the full sheet is made of material that does not consist of silk or satin material.
