A pair of retention collars is each positionable around the pole. A pair of mounting collars each rests on a respective one of the retention collars. A basket is attached to each of the mounting collars thereby facilitating the basket to be suspended on the pole such that the basket is accessible to a user lying on the bed. A pair of dividers is each positioned in the basket to define a plurality of storage areas in the basket for storing objects.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
A pole 24 is coupled to and extends upwardly from the panel 12 such that the pole 24 extends upwardly beyond the mattress 14 when the panel 12 is positioned between the mattress 14 and the box spring 16. The pole 24 has a lower end 26 and an upper end 28, and the lower end 26 is coupled to the top surface 22 of the panel 12 at a point which is located adjacent to the second end 20 of the panel 12. The pole 24 comprises a first section 30 that slidably engages a second section 32 such that the pole 24 has a telescopically adjustable height. The lower end 26 is associated with the first section 30, the upper end 28 is associated with the second section 32 and the upper end 28 is open. As is most clearly shown in
The second section 32 has a plurality of holes 36 each extending through the second section 32. The holes 36 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed along a substantial length of the second section 32. A lock 38 is movably integrated into the first section 30 of the pole 24 and the lock 38 is biased to extend outwardly form the first section 30. The lock 38 engages a respective one of the holes 36 in the second section 32 for retaining the pole 24 at a selected height. The lock 38 may comprise a spring loaded ball or other type of mechanism that is capable of extending outwardly through the respective hole 36.
A pair of retention collars 40 is provided and each of the retention collars 40 is positionable around the pole 24. Additionally, each of the retention collars 40 is positionable at a selected point on second section 32 of the pole 24. A pair of set screws 42 each extends through a respective one of the retention collars 40. Each of the set screws 42 engages the second section 32 of the pole 24 when the set screws 42 are tightened for retaining the respective retention collar at the selected point on the second section 32.
A pair of mounting collars 44 is provided and each of the mounting collars 44 is positionable around the pole 24. Additionally, each of the mounting collars 44 rests on a respective one of the retention collars 40. Each of the mounting collars 44 has an outer surface 46 and the outer surface 46 on each of the mounting collars 44 has a tab 48 extending outwardly from the outer surface 46. The tab 48 on the outer surface 46 of each of the mounting collars 44 has a distal surface 50 with respect to the outer surface 46. The distal surface 50 of the tab 48 has a channel 52 extending inwardly on the distal surface 50 and the channel 52 is oriented to extend along a horizontal axis when the mounting collars 44 are positioned around the pole 24.
A basket 54 is attached to each of the mounting collars 44 thereby facilitating the basket 54 to be suspended on the pole 24 such that the basket 54 is accessible to a user lying on the bed 17. The basket 54 includes a plurality of first members 56 comprising a central portion 58 extending between a pair of upright portions 60 such that each of the first members 56 has a U-shape. The plurality of first members 56 is strategically arranged such that the central portion 58 of each of the first members 56 defines a floor 62 of the basket 54 and each of the upright portions 60 defines a respective one of a plurality of walls 64 of the basket 54. The basket 54 includes a plurality of second members 66 that is each continuous and each of the second members 66 extends around the walls 64 defined by the upright portions 60 of the first members 56. Moreover, each of the second members 66 is bonded to the channel 52 in the distal surface 50 of the tab 48 on a respective one of the mounting collars 44.
A pair of dividers 68 is each of the dividers 68 is positioned in the basket 54 to define a plurality of storage areas 70 in the basket 54 to store objects 72. The objects 72 might include a remote control, a personal electronic device, a book or any other object that the user may wish to employ while the user is lying in bed 17. Each of the dividers 68 is defined by a rod 74 that has a series of bends 76 being integrated into the rod 74 to define a pair of floor sections 78 of the rod 74 extending between a pair of vertical sections 80 of the rod 74. Each of the floor sections 78 rests on the floor 62 of the basket 54 defined by central portion 58 of the first members 56 of the basket 54.
Each of the vertical sections 80 extends upwardly from the floor 62 of the basket 54. The vertical sections 80 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed between a respective pair of walls 64 of the basket 54 defined by the upright portions 60 of the first members 56. In this way the vertical sections 80 define storage areas 70 between the pair of vertical sections 80 of the rod 74. Additionally, the vertical sections 80 define storage areas 70 between the vertical sections 80 and the respective pair of the walls 64 of the basket 54.
In use, the panel 12 is slid between the mattress 14 and the box spring 16 and the pole 24 is adjusted to a desired height. Additionally, each of the retention collars 40 is retained at a selected point along the pole 24 to support the basket 54 at a selected height on the pole 24. In this way the basket 54 can be suspended over the mattress 14. In this way the objects 72 that are stored in the basket 54 can be retrieved from the basket 54 when the basket 54 is swung over the mattress 14. Additionally, the basket 54 can be swiveled on the pole 24 to swing the basket 54 away from the mattress 14. Moreover, the basket 54 facilitates the objects 72 to be stored in a manner that inhibits the objects 72 from being inadvertently knocked off of a nightstand, for example.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
