Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula ##STR13## wherein A is oxygen or sulfur,
- R.sup.1 is lower alkyl and
- Z.sup.1 and Z.sup.2 are each selected from a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group.
- 2. The compound according to claim 1 wherein Z.sup.1 and Z.sup.2 are each selected from a methyl group or hydrogen.
- 3. The compound according to claim 1 wherein Z.sup.1 and Z.sup.2 are each methyl groups.
- 4. The compound according to claim 1 which is 5-[2-methyl-4-(2-ethyl-3-benzofuroyl)phenoxymethyl]tetrazole or a pharmaceutically acceptable addition salt thereof.
- 5. The compound according to claim 1 which is 5-[2,3-dimethyl-4-(2-ethyl-3-benzofuroyl)phenoxymethyl]tetrazole or a pharmaceutically acceptable addition salt thereof.
- 6. The compound according to claim 1 which is 5-[2,6-dimethyl-4-(2-ethyl-3-benzofuroyl)phenoxymethyl]tetrazole or a pharmaceutically acceptable addition salt thereof.
- 7. The compound according to claim 1 wherein A is oxygen.
- 8. The compound according to claim 7 which is 5-[2-5-dimethyl-4-(2-ethyl-3-benzofuroyl)phenoxymethyl]tetrazole or a pharmaceutically acceptable addition salt thereof.
- 9. A diuretic composition with uricosuric activity comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and, as an active ingredient, a compound defined in claim 1 in an amount effective to inhibit hyperuricemia.
- 10. A method of treating hyperuricemia which comprises administering to a patient suffering from hyperuricemia a compound defined in claim 1 in an amount effective to inhibit hyperuricemia.
- 11. A method of treating hyperuricemia which comprises administering to a patient suffering from hyperuricemia a compound defined in claim 2 in an amount effective to inhibit hyperuricemia.
- 12. A method of treating hyperuricemia which comprises administering to a patient suffering from hyperuricemia a compound defined in claim 3 in an amount effective to inhibit hyperuricemia.
- 13. A method of treating hyperuricemia which comprises administering to a patient suffering from hyperuricemia a compound defined in claim 4 in an amount effective to inhibit hyperuricemia.
- 14. A method of treating hyperuricemia which comprises administering to a patient suffering from hyperuricemia a compound defined in claim 8 in an amount effective to inhibit hyperuricemia.
- 15. A method of treating hyperuricemia which comprises administering to a patient suffering from hyperuricemia a compound defined in claim 5 in an amount effective to inhibit hyperuricemia.
- 16. A method of treating hyperuricemia which comprises administering to a patient suffering from hyperuricemia a compound defined in claim 6 in an amount effective to inhibit hyperuricemia.
