Claims
- 1. A pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of acne by topical application which comprises an effective acne-treatment amount of benzyl all-trans-retinoate admixed with a pharmaceutically acceptable topical vehicle which is a mixture selected from the group consisting of propylene glycol-ethanol and propylene glycol-ethanol-chloroform.
- 2. A method for treatment of acne in a subject requiring such treatment which comprises topical application to the acne site of said subject of a composition comprising an effective acne-treatment amount of benzyl all-trans-retinoate admixed with a pharmaceutically-acceptable topical vehicle.
- 3. The method of claim 2 wherein the benzyl all-trans-retinoate comprises from about 0.01% to about 0.5% by weight of the composition.
- 4. The method of claim 3 wherein the benzyl all-trans-retinoate comprises from about 0.05% to about 0.2% by weight of the composition.
- 5. The method of claim 2 wherein the vehicle is a mixture selected from the group consisting of propylene glycol-ethanol and propylene glycol-ethanol-chloroform.
