Claims
- 1. A purified nucleic acid comprising a nucleotide sequence that encodes a protein that:
(a) shares at least 90% sequence identity with at least 50 contiguous amino acids of SEQ ID NO: 29; and (b) has at least one functional activity of a native Limonium latifolium NMTase.
- 2. The purified nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the protein shares at least 95% sequence identity with at least 50 contiguous amino acids of SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 3. The purified nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the protein shares at least 98% sequence identity with at least 50 contiguous amino acids of SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 4. The purified nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the protein comprises at least 50 contiguous amino acids of SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 5. The purified nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the protein comprises at least 100 contiguous amino acids of SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 6. The purified nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the protein comprises at least 500 contiguous amino acids of SEQ ID NO: 29
- 7. The purified nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the nucleotide sequence shares at least 65% sequence identity with SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 8. The purified nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the nucleotide sequence shares at least 75% sequence identity with SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 9. The purified nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the nucleotide sequence shares at least 85% sequence identity with SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 10. The purified nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the nucleotide sequence shares at least 95% sequence identity with SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 11. The purified nucleic acid of claim 9 , wherein the nucleotide sequence shares at least 97% sequence identity with SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 12. The purified nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the nucleotide sequence shares at least 99% sequence identity with SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 13. The purified nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the nucleotide sequence comprises SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 14. A vector comprising the nucleic acid of claim 1.
- 15. The vector of claim 14, wherein said nucleic acid is operably linked to one or more expression control sequences.
- 16. The vector of claim 15, wherein the one or more expression control sequences comprises a promoter.
- 17. A purified protein that:
(a) shares at least 90% sequence identity with at least 50 contiguous amino acids of SEQ ID NO: 29; and (b) has at least one functional activity of a native Limonium latifolium NMTase.
- 18. The purified protein of claim 17, wherein the protein shares at least 95% sequence identity with at least 50 contiguous amino acids of SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 19. The purified protein of claim 17, wherein the protein shares at least 99% sequence identity with at least 50 contiguous amino acids of SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 20. The purified protein of claim 17, wherein the protein shares at least 85% sequence identity with SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 21. The purified protein of claim 17, wherein the protein shares at least 95% sequence identity with SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 22. The purified protein of claim 17, wherein the protein comprises the sequence of SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 23. The purified protein of claim 17, wherein the protein consists essentially of the sequence of SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 24. The purified protein of claim 17, wherein the protein consists of the sequence of SEQ ID NO: 29.
- 25. A cell into which has been introduced the nucleic acid of claim 1 or the purified protein of claim 17.
- 26. The cell of claim 25, wherein the cell is a plant cell.
- 27. The cell of claim 26, wherein the plant cell is in a plant.
- 28. A purified antibody that specifically binds to the protein of claim 17.
- 29. A method of modulating stress resistance in a plant cell or seed, the method comprising the steps of:
(a) providing a plant cell or seed; and (b) introducing into the plant cell or seed the purified nucleic acid of claim 1 or the purified protein of claim 17.
