Claims
- 1. A disazo pigment of the formula ##STR4## in the .beta.-modification thereof, whose X-ray diffraction pattern at an interplanar spacing of 3.33 A.degree. shows a line of very strong intensity, at 5.38 and 8.33 A.degree. lines of strong intensity, at 3.74, 4.24, 4.68, 4.94, 5.18 and 8.70 A.degree. lines of medium intensity, at 4.05, 4.37, 6.33 and 12.6 A.degree. lines of medium to faint intensity, at 3.50, 3.94, 5.65, 6.09, 6.71, 10.6 and 11.5 A.degree. lines of faint intensity.
- 2. A process for the manufacture of the .beta.-modification of the disazo pigment according to claim 1, wherein a solution of p-phenylenediamine in an organic solvent is added gradually at elevated temperature to a solution of the acid chloride of the formula ##STR5## in the molar ratio 1:2.
- 3. A process according to claim 2, wherein a chlorinated benzene is used as inert organic solvent.
- 4. A process according to claim 3, wherein o-dichlorobenzene is used.
- 5. A process according to claim 2, wherein the reaction is carried out at temperatures between 80.degree. C and 150.degree. C.
