Claims
- 1. A bi-convex solid immersion lens (SIL), comprising:
an upper convex surface having a first radius of curvature; a bottom convex surface having a second radius of curvature larger than the first radius of curvature; and, a beveled edge at the periphery of said SIL.
- 2. The SIL of claim 1, wherein the bottom surface passes through the radial geometrical center of the upper surface.
- 3. The SIL of claim 1, wherein the bottom surface passes above the radial geometrical center of the upper surface.
- 4. The SIL of claim 1, wherein the bottom surface passes below the radial geometrical center of the upper surface.
- 5. A solid immersion lens (SIL), comprising:
a tip convex surface having a first radius of curvature; a bottom convex surface having a second radius of curvature larger than the first radius of curvature and having a substantially small and defined point of contact; and , a sloped conical edge connecting said top and bottom convex surfaces.
- 6. The SIL of claim 5, wherein the bottom surface passes through the radial geometrical center of the top surface.
- 7. The SIL of claim 5, wherein the bottom surface passes above the radial geometrical center of the top surface.
- 8. The SIL of claim 5, wherein the bottom surface passes below the radial geometrical center of the top surface.
- 9. A bi-convex solid immersion lens (SIL), comprising:
an upper convex surface having a first radius of curvature; a bottom convex surface having a second radius of curvature larger than the first radius of curvature; and, a sloped conical edge connecting said top and bottom convex surfaces.
- 10. The SIL of claim 9, wherein the bottom surface passes through the radial geometrical center of the upper surface.
- 11. The SIL of claim 9, wherein the bottom surface passes above the radial geometrical center of the upper surface.
- 12. The SIL of claim 9, wherein the bottom surface passes below the radial geometrical center of the upper surface.
