- 5. The transmitter as recited in claim 1 wherein said modulator employs a carrier wave having a frequency exceeding 1 GHz.
- 6. The transmitter as recited in claim 1 wherein said modulator is configured to employ said binary data directly to modulate a carrier wave to yield a stream of broadband RF signals using a binary modulation scheme selected from the group consisting of:
switching said transmitter ON and OFF; modulating a frequency of said carrier wave; or modulating a phase of said carrier wave.
- 7. The transmitter as recited in claim 1 wherein said transmitter is employed in a wireless local area network (LAN).
- 8. A method of transmitting data, comprising:
receiving and encoding binary data to be transmitted; employing said binary data directly to modulate a carrier wave to yield a stream of broadband RF signals; interposing header information into said stream; and amplifying said stream for transmission via an antenna.
- 9. The method as recited in claim 8, wherein said encoding includes encoding said binary data bit-for-bit.
- 10. The method as recited in claim 8, wherein said encoding includes encoding said binary data based on a feedback signal received from a receiver of said stream prior to transmission of a subsequent stream.
- 11. The method as recited in claim 10 wherein said encoding further includes a data coder establishing a transmission rate for said binary data based on said feedback signal.
- 12. The method as recited in claim 8, wherein employing said binary data directly to modulate a carrier wave includes employing said binary data directly to modulate a carrier wave having a frequency exceeding 1 GHz.
- 13. The method as recited in claim 8, wherein said employing includes employing said binary data directly to modulate a carrier wave to yield a stream of broadband RF signals using a binary modulation scheme selected from the group consisting of:
switching said transmitter ON and OFF; modulating a frequency of said carrier wave; or modulating a phase of said carrier wave.
- 14. The method as recited in claim 8, wherein said amplifying further includes amplifying said stream for transmission in a wireless local area network (LAN).
- 15. A wireless transceiver, comprising:
a modulator that employs binary data directly to modulate a carrier wave to yield a stream of broadband RF signals for radio frequency (RF) signal transmission to a receiver, said transceiver configured to receive a feedback signal establishing transmission parameters from said receiver; and a header generator that interposes header information regarding said carrier wave and said transmission parameters into said stream.
- 16. The wireless transceiver as recited in claim 15, further including a data coder that encodes said binary data bit-for-bit prior to transmission to said receiver.
- 17. The wireless transceiver as recited in claim 16 wherein said data coder encodes said binary data based on said feedback signal.
