Claims
- 1. A reinforcement for strengthening a sheet of paper near a binding hole, comprising a generally chevron shaped strip having parallel opposing edges of similar length and contour, and means on one side of the strip for adhesively affixing the strip to the sheet of paper.
- 2. The reinforcement of claim 1 wherein the opposing edges have a generally V-shaped contour, and the side edges have a straight contour.
- 3. The reinforcement of claim 1 wherein the vertex of the chevron shaped strip is rounded with a curvature corresponding to the binding hole.
- 4. The reinforcement of claim 3 wherein the chevron shaped strip has side arm portions which extend from the rounded vertex at an angle on the order of 90.degree. relative to each other.
- 5. The reinforcement of claim 1 wherein the chevron shaped strip is cut from a sheet of adhesively backed material with a punch which also cuts the binding hole in the paper and applies the chevron shaped strip to the paper in a predetermined position near the hole.
- 6. A plurality of reinforcements for strengthening sheets of paper near binding holes, each of said reinforcement comprising a generally chevron shaped strip having parallel opposing edges of similar length and contour and means on one side of the strip for affixing the strip to a sheet of paper, and means releasably holding the chevron shaped strips together in a generally planar array in which the strips are nested together along an axis with the opposing edges of adjacent ones of the strips being in close mating relationship with each other and no gaps or wasted material between the adjacent strips.
- 7. The reinforcements of claim 6 wherein the side edges of the chevron shaped strips are aligned along straight lines generally parallel to the axis.
- 8. The reinforcements of claim 6 wherein the means for holding the chevron shaped strips together comprises a backing sheet to which the strips are releasably secured.
- 9. The reinforcements of claim 8 wherein the means for affixing the chevron shaped strips to the sheet of paper comprises an adhesive coating on the back sides of the strips, said adhesive coating also serving to hold the strips on the backing sheet.
