Claims
- 1. A binocular comprising:
- two telescope systems having parallel optical systems, each telescope system including a magnifying-power-varying lens group;
- a magnifying-power-varying mechanism that moves said magnifying-power-varying lens groups, said magnifying-power-varying mechanism comprising drive members that are rotatably provided to axially move said magnifying-power-varying lens groups and a connecting member that connects said drive members,
- wherein said connecting member is provided to synchronously rotate said drive members,
- said connecting member comprising a belt-shaped member having discrete longitudinal ends and having a predetermined rigidity, said connecting member comprising an engaging portion at both longitudinal ends to be engaged with said drive members, each of said engaging portions comprising a bent portion at the longitudinal end of said connecting member and a tongue portion formed at a predetermined distance from said end portion, and
- said longitudinal ends of said belt-shaped member being fixed to outer surfaces of said drive members, predetermined lengths of said belt-shaped member, extending from said longitudinal ends, having a bend of a predetermined curvature,
- wherein when said connecting member is driven perpendicular to said optical axes, said connecting member pushes the outer surface of one of said drive members and pulls the outer surface of the other of said drive members thereby rotating both of said drive members.
- 2. The binocular according to claim 1, wherein a portion adjacent each of said bent portions has a bend of a predetermined radius.
- 3. The binocular according to claim 1, wherein said connecting member is made of metal.
- 4. The binocular according to claim 3, wherein said connecting member is made of a Ni--Cr--Mo alloy.
- 5. The binocular according to claim 1, further comprising a guiding mechanism that guides said belt-shaped member, said guiding mechanism comprising a plurality of rollers supporting said belt-shaped member.
- 6. A binocular comprising:
- two telescope systems having parallel optical systems, each telescope system including a magnifying-power-varying lens group; and
- a magnifying-power-varying mechanism that moves said magnifying-power-varying lens groups, comprising drive members that axially move said magnifying-power-varying lens groups and a connecting member that connects said drive members, said connecting member comprising a belt-shaped member having discrete longitudinal ends, at least a portion of said belt-shaped member being flexible; and
- wherein said belt-shaped member has bent portions at both said longitudinal ends and tongue portions formed at a predetermined distance from said bent portions,
- wherein said drive members have slots for engaging each of said bent portions and each of said tongue portions.
- 7. The binocular according to claim 6, wherein each of said tongue portions comprises a rectangularly-shaped portion extending from said connecting member, having been cut and bent therefrom.
- 8. The binocular according to claim 7, wherein the distance between each said bent portion and each said tongue portion is less than the distance between said slots of each drive member, so that said bent portion and said tongue portion clamp said connecting member to said drive members.
- 9. The binocular according to claim 7, wherein a predetermined length from both longitudinal ends of said connecting member are wound around said drive members.
- 10. The binocular according to claim 9, wherein said slots of each drive member have openings at one longitudinal end surface of said drive member, for receiving said bent portion and said tongue portion.
- 11. The binocular according to claim 10, wherein said slots are flared at said opening for inserting said bent portion and said tongue portion.
- 12. The binocular according to claim 6, a distance between said bent portion and said tongue portion of each longitudinal end of said belt-shaped member being smaller than a distance between said slots of each of said drive members.
- 13. The binocular according to claim 6, further comprising a guiding mechanism that guides said belt-shaped member, said guiding mechanism comprising a plurality of rollers supporting said belt-shaped member.
- 14. A binocular comprising:
- two telescope systems having parallel optical systems, each telescope system including a magnifying-power-varying lens group; and
- a magnifying-power-varying mechanism that moves said magnifying-power-varying lens groups, said magnifying-power-varying mechanism comprising drive members, a connecting member and a regulating member,
- said drive members comprising drive rings rotatably provided for axially moving said magnifying-power-varying lens groups,
- said connecting member comprising a belt-shaped member having discrete longitudinal ends and a predetermined rigidity and that synchronously rotates said drive rings,
- said regulating member regulates the position of said connecting member in a predetermined direction parallel to the optical axes of said magnifying-power-varying lens groups,
- said regulating member comprises a regulating plate provided in front of said connecting member; and
- said drive rings have reference surfaces, and said regulating plate contacts said reference surfaces to thereby regulate said drive rings in said predetermined direction.
- 15. The binocular according to claim 14, wherein said regulating plate elasticly regulates the movement of said drive rings.
- 16. The binocular according to claim 14, further comprising a guiding mechanism that guides said belt-shaped member, said guiding mechanism comprising a plurality of rollers, said belt-shaped member positioned between said plurality of rollers.
- 17. A binocular comprising:
- two telescope systems having parallel optical systems, each telescope system including an objective optical system, a magnifying-power-varying lens group and an eyepiece optical system, each said eyepiece optical system being rotatable about an axis of one of said objective optical systems; and
- a magnifying-power-varying mechanism that moves said magnifying-power-varying lens groups, said magnifying-power-varying mechanism comprising drive members that are rotatably provided to axially move said magnifying-power-varying lens groups and a connecting member that connects and synchronously rotates said drive members,
- said connecting member comprising a belt-shaped member having a predetermined rigidity, and
- longitudinal ends of said belt-shaped member being fixed to outer surfaces of said drive members, said belt-shaped member being bendable at said rotation axes of said eyepiece optical systems.
- 18. The binocular according to claim 17, further comprising at least one roller that guides a movement of said belt-shaped member, said at least one roller being co-axial with said of one of said objective optical systems.
- 19. The binocular according to claim 17, further comprising at least two rollers for guiding said belt-shaped member with respect to each of said drive members, a gap between said rollers of each of said pair of rollers receiving a slack of said belt-shaped member.
- 20. The binocular according to claim 17, rotation of said eyepiece optical systems about said axes of said objective optical systems enabling for interpupillary adjustment.
- 21. The binocular according to claim 17, further comprising a guiding mechanism that guiding said belt-shaped member, said guiding mechanism comprising a plurality of rollers, said belt-shaped member positioned between said plurality of rollers.
