Claims
- 1. A method of protecting gingival tissue comprising applying a self-adhesive protective dressing to said gingival tissue such that the dressing adheres thereto and provides protection therefor.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said applying step includes applying said dressing such that a substantial portion thereof in is contact with said gingival tissue.
- 3. The method of claim 1, further including the step of configuring said protective dressing so as to substantially conform to contours of said gingival tissue where said protective dressing is applied thereto.
- 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the dressing includes a gamma-irradiated gamma radiation sensitive adhesive altered in at least one characteristic other than sterility thereby.
- 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the adhesive has been sterilized by said gamma radiation.
- 6. The method of claim 1, wherein said at least one characteristic includes adhesiveness.
- 7. The method of claim 1, wherein said adhesive comprises paraffin and gum tragacanth and has been irradiated with at least about 25 kGy of gamma radiation.
- 8. A method of protecting gingival tissue comprising the step of applying thereto a dressing having a gamma-irradiated gamma radiation sensitive adhesive altered in at least one characteristic other than sterility thereby.
- 9. The method of claim 8, wherein the adhesive has been sterilized by said gamma radiation.
- 10. The method of claim 8, wherein said at least one characteristic includes adhesiveness.
- 11. The method of claim 8, wherein said adhesive comprises paraffin and gum tragacanth and has been irradiated with at least about 25 kGy of gamma radiation.
