Claims
- 1. A precursor for a Bi-2223 high-temperature superconductor prepared according to a process wherein a mechanical mixture of metal oxides containing bismuth, lead, strontium, calcium and copper in a stoichiometric ratio corresponding to a superconductor is completely melted in air at temperatures above 1000.degree. C., wherein the melt is then poured out onto a base which is kept at room temperature and wherein the cooled melt body is subsequently disintegrated and then ground into powder, wherein the precursor has a composition corresponding to the formula selected from the group consisting of Bi.sub.2.2-y Pb.sub.y (Sr,Ca).sub.4.2 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.x wherein y<0.4, Bi.sub.2.13-y Pb.sub.y (Sr,Ca).sub.3.86 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.x wherein y<0.33, Bi.sub.2.1-y Pb.sub.y (Sr,Ca).sub.3.9 Cu.sub.3.1 O.sub.x wherein y<0.4 and Bi.sub.2.1-y Pb.sub.y (Sr,Ca).sub.2.9 Cu.sub.2.1 O.sub.x wherein y<0.4.
- 2. A precursor as claimed in claim 1, wherein the precursor has a composition corresponding to the formula Bi.sub.1.8 Pb.sub.0.4 Sr.sub.2 Ca.sub.2.2 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.10+x.
- 3. A precursor as claimed in claim 1, wherein the precursor has a composition corresponding to the formula Bi.sub.1.8 Pb.sub.0.33 Sr.sub.1.93 Ca.sub.1.93 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.10+x.
- 4. A precursor as claimed in claim 1, wherein the precursor has a composition corresponding to the formula Bi.sub.1.7 Pb.sub.0.4 Sr.sub.1.9 Ca.sub.2.0 Cu.sub.3.1 O.sub.10+x.
- 5. A precursor as claimed in claim 1, wherein the precursor has a composition corresponding to the formula Bi.sub.1.7 Pb.sub.0.4 Sr.sub.1.9 Ca.sub.1.0 Cu.sub.2.1 O.sub.8+x.
- 6. A precursor as claimed in claim 1, which has an average grain size of <5 .mu.m.
