BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
The invention is to address the observed issue of people spitting on birthday cakes while blowing out the candies.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF INVENTION
The Birthday Candle Flame Extinguishing Device with Spit guard is designed to direct the flow of air, saliva and other objects expelled from a person's mouth as they blow out candles on a birthday cake or other related celebratory candle holding items (cakes, muffins, cupcakes). The basic design is that of a short straw attached to a triangular shaped flute/tray with a flat bottom. The shape of the flute/try cuts off the bottom half (180 degrees) of the persons exhalation, so only the top 180 degrees of the persons exhalation is blown at the candles and saliva spray is directed out over and past the cake (instead of onto the cake).
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE VIEWS OF THE DRAWING
- a. The first view (#1) is from the side. It shows the 2-3 inch straw from the input end to the output end which is attached to the flute (flute is 1-2 inches in length). The side of the flute is shown from input end (connected to the straw) to the output (on the right).
- b. The second view (#2) is from above looking down. It shows how the output end of the straw opens to the flute. At this point is where the user's exhalation is redirected into the flute and then out of the flute.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The tool (toy) is constructed of paper (cardboard) or light plastic material. There are two main components:
- a. Straw: The straw is either light plastic or paper (cardboard) rolled into a tube that is about 2-3 inches long and about ¼ inch in diameter. The exact length and diameter may fluctuate to meet manufacturer specifications, but it must be narrow enough (<½ inch) to operate properly (too wide of diameter and the person cannot sustain the exhalation long enough to blow out all the candles).
- b. Flute/tray: 1-2 inches in length with 1/4 to %2 inch sides. It is the same cardboard or light plastic material. The flute directs the air flow coming out of the straw. It comes off the straw at about a 145-degree angle. It is a triangle shape with the tip connected to the straw and two 90-degree sides extending from tip to the end of the flute.
