Claims
- 1. Thermally stable, rigid polyamide having a repeating unit of the formula ##STR63## in which Ar is arylene selected from the group consisting of 1,2-phenylene, 1,3-phenylene, 1,4-phenylene, 2,2'-biphenylene, 3,3'-biphenylene, 4,4'-biphenylene and 2,6-naphthylene, said arylene being unsubstituted or substituted with methyl or chloro, and R is Ar, alkylene of 1 to 20 carbon atoms, or oxygen-interrupted alkylene of 3 to 20 carbon atoms.
- 2. The polymer of claim 1 in which R is Ar.
- 3. The polyamide of claim 1 in which Ar is an unsubstituted arylene and R is an alkylene of 1 to 20 carbon atoms.
