Construction projects, whether big or small, use many different types of equipment which can be dangerous to passersby, as well as the environment on which the construction is to take place. Oftentimes, preparing the site can be a time-consuming and laborious job, and can require multiple people to complete the task. These preparations, such as laying and rolling concrete blankets and construction fences, may also need to be set up and taken down each day, adding time and expense to the project. Further, this type of preparation equipment may take up a large amount of storage space, especially if not rolled tightly and properly secured.
Therefore, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a device that rolls blankets, construction fences, and other construction structures and items of the like for storage. More specifically, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a blanket rolling device that allows a single user to roll blankets and construction fences, such that the blanket or fence is tightly wound and secured, preventing it from unwinding during storage or transportation. Furthermore, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a blanket rolling device that can be secured to a vehicle such that it can be easily transported around a construction site.
The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a blanket rolling device. The device is comprised of a male hitch, an axle, a vertical frame member, and a secondary axle, all preferably made of a metal to easily attach to a trailer hitch of a vehicle. During use, a construction blanket or other similar object may be placed between a first and second horizontal bar. By cranking a handle, the first and second horizontal bars rotate about the axis of the secondary axle, winding the construction blanket into a tight spiral. The axle acts as a guide to the construction blanket to smoothly roll the blanket up to the secondary axle.
In this manner, the blanket rolling device of the present invention accomplishes all the foregoing objectives and provides a device that can roll construction blankets and fences for storage. More specifically, the blanket rolling device can be operated by a single user to tightly wind and secure a construction blanket or fence, preventing it from unwinding during storage or transportation. Furthermore, the blanket rolling device can be secured to a vehicle such that it can be transported easily around a construction site.
