This invention relates to the sewing machine industry and more specifically to a bobbin winder spindle adapter for a home sewing machine.
The adapter of the present invention is mounted on the bobbin winder spindle of a home sewing machine and prevents lateral movement of a cone spool that is secured within the adapter.
Some modern sewing machines have provided a spindle in which a cone spool can be placed. U.S. Pat. No. 5,626,302, Hrobar, registered on May 6, 1997, discloses a sewing machine cone spool to spindle adapter. The Hrobar adapter allows the cone spool to rest on a planar surface of the adapter and the cone spool is secured by an upper taper cone that is part of the support conduit of the adapter. The Hrobar adapter is made to rest on a spindle not the bobbin winder spindle.
Hrobar describes the prior art and the need to create an adapter that can be placed on a modern sewing machine. It even discloses the need to prevent wobble when the string is unwound from the adapter. Hrobar provides two models that can be used with cone spools, yet it does not provide a universal adapter that can be used with all cone spools that can be used on a modern sewing machine that will be mounted on the bobbin winder spindle. The bobbin winder spindle provides the thread for the underside of the stitches a sewing machine forms.
The present invention provides a universal adapter that can be used on the bobbin winder spindle of modern sewing machines, it allows thread to be spooled of the bobbin winder spindle.
The present invention is directed to a universal adapter that can be used on the bobbin winder spindle of modern sewing machines, it allows thread to be spooled of the bobbin winder spindle.
The bobbin winder spindle adapter of the present invention comprises conical base, a tubular guide that attaches to the conical base, and conical cone stabilizer that is mounted on the tubular guide after a cone spool has been placed on conical base tubular guide assembly.
The conical base of the present invention allows cone spools to snuggly fit into the adapter of the present invention. The conical cone stabilizer secures the cone spool on the adapter so that wobble is minimized when using the bobbin winder spindle.
An object of the present invention is to provide a bobbin winder spindle adapter that is universal to all cone spools.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an adapter that will mount on a bobbin winder spindle.
A further object of the present invention is to provide an adapter that will mount on a bobbin winder spindle that prevents a cone spool's thread from tangling or breaking.
These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with regard to the following description, appended claims and drawings where:
As seen in
In a preferred embodiment the bobbin winder spindle adapter is made of Teflon.
The present invention is used on modern sewing machines 40 that have bobbin winder spindles 18. The bobbin winder spindle adapter 100 of the present invention is used as follows: first, the lower section 10c of the conical base 10 is mounted on the bobbin winder spindle 18 of a modern sewing machine 40; then the tubular guide 12 in inserted within the upper section of the conical base 14; next, a cone spool 15 is mounted on the tubular guide conical base assembly 16; then, the first end 14b of the conical cone stabilizer 14b is mounted on the tubular guide 12.
An advantage of the present invention is that it provides a bobbin winder spindle adapter that is universal to all cone spools.
Another advantage of the present invention is that it provides an adapter that mounts on a bobbin winder spindle.
A further advantage of the present invention is that it provides an adapter that mounts on a bobbin winder spindle that prevents a cone spool's thread from tangling or breaking.
Although the present invention has been described in considerable detail in reference to preferred versions, other versions are possible. Therefore, the spirit and scope of the appended claims should not be limited to the description of the referred versions contained herein.
