1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a hair fastening band and method, more particularly an elastic band with bobby-pins attached to each end.
2. Description of Prior Art
Many people like to secure their hair up and away from their face in various styles. One way to put the hair up is to use a hair band. A hair band, traditionally formed into a loop, is secured around a section of hair, which is effective in securing hair, however often becomes loose and less supportive over time. It also can't hold hair up in a variety of hairstyles other than a ponytail.
Another way to secure hair is to use a bungee type fastener with hooks at each end. These are effective for a hairstylist, however, they are difficult to use and extremely difficult to remove for the user.
An object of the present invention is to provide an instrument, which is convenient, practical, and inexpensive for use in hair fastening.
A further object is to provide such an instrument wherein bobby-pins can be substantially hidden in sections of hair while giving extra hold and support to a hair band.
A further object is to provide such an instrument where each bobby-pin penetrates each hair sections and grasps them tightly while staying secured to a hair band.
A further object is to provide such an instrument where the elastic band, and both bobby-pins each grasp a separate section of hair enabling three sections of hair to be held with a single embodiment, while only the band is visible.
A further object is to provide such an instrument that can be used unassisted by the individual styling their hair, eliminating the expense of a professional stylist.
A further object is to be able pull up sections of hair and connect them to the bobby-pins and the hair band.
A further object is to clamp an end of the band to a section of hair using the attached bobby-pin, pulling up hair while wrapping the band around it, and securing the second bobby-pin to a section of hair to secure the upswept style.
A further object is to provide an instrument that will quickly hold the user's hair up in a multitude of neatly secured styles.
A further object is to provide a bobby-pin hair fastening band that doesn't become loose on the user's head.
A further object is to provide a bobby-pin hair fastening band that can be used for securing a ponytail.
According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a hair fastening band comprising an elastic, resilient band, and a bobby-pin attached to each end of the band.
According to the arrangement described above the band ends are secured to the bobby-pin in such a way that the bobby-pin's open ends can penetrate the user's hair to grasp it and secure the band to the hair. Further, because the band is elastic, the band is adjustable to different size hair sections.
Accordingly a preferred embodiment of the present invention the resilient band is a length of elastic fabric formed into a loop and are secured to the elbow section of the bobby-pins by tying them. The knots can be glued to keep the knotted portion from sliding off the bobby-pin.
The bobby-pin could also be attached to the band by feeding a length of fabric through a formed loop at the end of the bobby pin elbow section. This can be done by welding a loop to the bobby-pin ends or by crimping the ends of the bobby-pins. The crimped portion can be sealed by glue or by being welded at the crimp opening to keep the band from sliding off the bobby-pin.

The present invention being thus described, it is obvious that the same embodiment and uses may be varied in many ways. For instance, the bobby-pin portions can be of different shapes, sizes or configurations as long as they work as a bobby-pin; the bobby-pin ends can have attached ornaments; the band portion can be of different shapes, sizes, or materials, such as cotton; the band could be a straight band instead of a looped band; and anyway to secure the band ends to the bobby-pin ends should apply. Further, any way to style the hair with the present embodiment applies. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the invention, and all such variations as would be obvious to those skilled in the art are intended to be included within the scope of the following claims,
