The present invention relates generally to the field of headwear. More specifically, the present invention relates to a bonnet and scarf combination device that features fasteners as an improved securement mechanism. The bonnet comprises a headband fixed around the perimeter of the bonnet's opening and may also feature fasteners on the top surface of the bonnet. At least one scarf accompanies the bonnet which also comprises fasteners. When deployed for use, the scarfs may be wrapped around a user's head and the bonnet may be attached to the scarfs. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices and methods of manufacture.
Many people enjoy wearing headwear such as bonnets and scarves. However, many headwear accessories can easily fall off or mess up the wearer's hairstyle that they diligently tried to create. This may cause some individuals who would otherwise have liked to wear headwear to forgo wearing it. This could cause many problems, especially in a cold or wet environment. For example, it is imperative that a user keeps his or her head warm during the winter. Other aesthetical issues may arise by forgoing headwear, such as sacrificing style.
Therefore, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a bonnet and scarf combination device. There also exists a long-felt need in the art for a bonnet and scarf combination device that is comfortable and that can be quickly and adequately secured to the wearer's head without messing up the wearer's hair. Lastly, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a bonnet and scarf combination device that is both stylish and practical.
The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a bonnet and scarf combination device. The device is primarily comprised of a bonnet and at least one scarf. The bonnet features a headband that is preferably elastic so that the bonnet may be secured to the user's head. Both the bonnet and the scarf have at least one fastener so that the scarf may be wrapped around the user's head, and the bonnet can be directly attached to the scarf. Both the bonnet and the scarf may feature differing decorative indicia, designs and fabric to enhance the device's appearance.
In this manner, the bonnet and scarf combination device of the present invention accomplishes all of the foregoing objectives and provides and acts as comfortable headwear that protects a user's head and hair from the environment. Further, because the device features fasteners, the bonnet and scarf can be easily fixed to the user's head without a high risk of falling off during movement. Lastly, the bonnet and scarf combination device is exceptionally fashionable.
The following presents a simplified summary in order to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the disclosed innovation. This summary is not an extensive overview, and it is not intended to identify key/critical elements or to delineate the scope thereof. Its sole purpose is to present some general concepts in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.
The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a bonnet and scarf combination device. The device is primarily comprised of a bonnet and at least one scarf. The bonnet is preferably fastened with an elastic headband so that the bonnet may squeeze the head of the wearer, firmly securing itself upon their head. The bonnet is preferably manufactured from a comfortable silk or satin material, but may comprise any material known in the art. To enhance the appearance of the bonnet, indicia may be included on both the interior and exterior surfaces of the bonnet.
The device further has at least one, but preferably two, scarfs. The scarfs are generally rectangular in shape with straight edges, but may feature other designs to enhance their appearance. Both scarfs may feature indicia. Preferably, the scarfs are comprised of the same fabric used to manufacture the bonnet but may be manufactured from any other material known in the art. Each scarf is comprised of at least one fastener. In this manner, the scarfs may be removably attached to one another and can be wrapped around the user's head to protect the user's head and hair. The bonnet may also comprise at least one fastener so that the scarfs may be removably attached to the bonnet.
Accordingly, the bonnet and scarf combination device of the present invention is particularly advantageous as it allows the user to protect their head from the cold or other unpleasant environmental conditions without messing up the user's hair. Moreover, the bonnet is both pleasant and comfortable to wear. Lastly, the device is very stylish because both the bonnet and scarf may feature designs and indicia and can be comprised in any fabric. In this manner, the bonnet and scarf combination device overcomes the limitations of existing headwear known in the art.
To the accomplishment of the foregoing and related ends, certain illustrative aspects of the disclosed innovation are described herein in connection with the following description and the annexed drawings. These aspects are indicative, however, of but a few of the various ways in which the principles disclosed herein can be employed and are intended to include all such aspects and their equivalents. Other advantages and novel features will become apparent from the following detailed description when considered in conjunction with the drawings.

As noted above, there is a long-felt need in the art for a bonnet and scarf combination device. There also exists a long-felt need in the art for a bonnet and scarf combination device that is cozy and snug on the user's head, to allow for a comfortable experience when utilizing the device. Moreover, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a bonnet and scarf combination device that has the means to be firmly secured on the user's head. Finally, there exists a long-felt need in the art for a bonnet and scarf combination device that provides both stylish and practical use.
The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, is comprised of a bonnet and scarf combination device. More specifically, the device comprises a bonnet with a headband and at least one accompanying scarf, but preferably two scarfs. The headband of the bonnet is preferably elastic and may be fastened to the opening of the bonnet. In this manner, the bonnet may be secured and worn on top of the user's head without a high risk of it falling off. The bonnet is preferably comprised of silk or satin fabric, but may be manufactured from any fabric known in the art. The bonnet may feature indicia on both surfaces to enhance the device's appearance.
The device preferably comprises two scarfs. The scarfs are generally rectangular in shape but may feature other designs and indicia to enhance their appearance. The scarfs are preferably manufactured from the same material used in the bonnet, but may comprise any other material known in the art. At least one fastener is fixed to each scarf. The scarfs may be attached to each other to aid in the wrapping process. In this manner, the scarfs may be wrapped around the user's head to protect the user's head and hair. The bonnet may also feature at least one fastener so that the scarves may be removably attached to the bonnet.
Referring initially to the drawings,
The body 160 of the first scarf 150 is generally rectangular in shape and is preferably manufactured with straight edges 161. Other embodiments may feature differing patterns around the scarfs 150 edges 161, such as but not limited to zig-zag, waves, or other patterns generally created by pinking shears or other similar cutting devices of the like. The first scarf 150 is preferably manufactured in the same material as the bonnet 110, but may be manufactured from other fabrics known in the art such as, but not limited to, vinyl, canvas, cashmere, chenille, chiffon, cotton, damask, jersey, lace, linen, wool, modal, polyester, spandex, suede, tweed, twill, velvet, acrylic, modacrylic, nylon, polypropylene, polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, vinylidene, benzoate, aramid, rayon, acetate, triacetate, etc. The body 160 also has at least one fastener 164, 168. Other embodiments may feature at least two fasteners 164,168 with one fastener 164 located on the first end 162 and the other fastener 168 located on the second end 166 of the body 160. The fasteners 164, 168, may also be located on any portion of the body 160 of the scarf 150 (including the edges 161) and are not only limited to the first end 162 and a second end 166.
The body 180 of the second scarf 170 is generally rectangular in shape and is preferably manufactured with straight edges 181. Other embodiments may feature differing patterns around the scarfs 170 edges 181 such as, but not limited to, zig-zag, waves, or other patterns generally created by pinking shears or other similar cutting devices of the like. The second scarf 170 is preferably manufactured in the same material as the bonnet 110, but may be manufactured from other fabrics known in the art such as, but not limited to, vinyl, canvas, cashmere, chenille, chiffon, cotton, damask, jersey, lace, linen, wool, modal, polyester, spandex, suede, tweed, twill, velvet, acrylic, modacrylic, nylon, polypropylene, polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, vinylidene, benzoate, aramid, rayon, acetate, triacetate, etc. The body 180 also has at least one fastener 184, 188. Other embodiments may feature at least two fasteners 184, 188 with one fastener 184 located on the first end 182 and the other fastener 188 located on the second end 186 of the body 180. The fasteners 184, 188, may also be located on any portion of the body 180 of the scarf 170 (including the edges 181) and are not only limited to the first end 182 and a second end 186.
In the preferred embodiment of the device 100, a hook fastener 164 is fixed on the first end 164 of the first scarf 150 and a loop fastener 184 is fixed on the first end 182 the second scarf 170. In this manner, both the first scarf 150 and second scarf 170 may be removably attached to one another using the fasteners 164, 184, 166, 186. In differing embodiments, the fasteners 164, 184, 166, 186 may be any fastener type known in the art such as, but not limited to, a zipper, snap-button, adhesive, string, magnetic, etc. The top surface 130 of the bonnet 110 may also have at least one fastener 164 known in the art of the same type as the fasteners 164, 168, 184, 188 of each scarf 150, 170. In this manner, the bonnet 110 may be attached to either the first scarf 150 or the second scarf 170.
Certain terms are used throughout the following description and claims to refer to particular features or components. As one skilled in the art will appreciate, different persons may refer to the same feature or component by different names. This document does not intend to distinguish between components or features that differ in name but not structure or function. As used herein “bonnet and scarf combination device” and “device” are interchangeable and refer to the bonnet and scarf combination device 100 of the present invention.
Notwithstanding the forgoing, the bonnet and scarf combination device 100 of the present invention and its various components can be of any suitable size and configuration as is known in the art without affecting the overall concept of the invention, provided that they accomplish the above-stated objectives. One of ordinary skill in the art will appreciate that the size, configuration and material of the bonnet and scarf combination device 100 as shown in the FIGS. are for illustrative purposes only, and that many other sizes and shapes of the bonnet and scarf combination device 100 are well within the scope of the present disclosure. Although the dimensions of the bonnet and scarf combination device 100 are important design parameters for user convenience, the bonnet and scarf combination device 100 may be of any size, shape and/or configuration that ensures optimal performance during use and/or that suits the user's needs and/or preferences.
Various modifications and additions can be made to the exemplary embodiments discussed without departing from the scope of the present invention. While the embodiments described above refer to particular features, the scope of this invention also includes embodiments having different combinations of features and embodiments that do not include all of the described features. Accordingly, the scope of the present invention is intended to embrace all such alternatives, modifications and variations as fall within the scope of the claims, together with all equivalents thereof
