FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The subject of this invention is a bookcase equipped with multi-compartment lighting devices with adjustable sections.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The innovation has a particular although not exclusive scope in the industry for production of furnishing elements and, in particular, in the furniture production and sales industry, the specific invention having a special application in the bookcase production industry.

In the furnishing sector, among furnishing elements, furniture assumes a special importance, also in relation to its functional usefulness, being intended to contain objects that are inserted in or placed on the unit, and also from an appreciably aesthetic perspective for the non-strictly intrinsically functional connotation in relation to the units in question, which have the potential to characterize the space in which they are positioned. In the vast category of furniture units, one of the most widely diffused types, especially in the home, is composed of units designed exclusively or primarily to contain books, meaning the units commonly referred to as bookcases. The same structure of a bookcase derives from the connotation that characterizes it since, as can be clearly understood, being primarily designed to accommodate books in such a way that said intended use makes it necessary, in the design of its structure, to award of adequate consideration to the fact that the unit is designed in order to support significant weight in stable conditions, depending on the number of books it is designed to hold. The basic structure of a bookcase is traditionally imparted by the ordered assembly of uprights and shelves that are suitably structured to resist the loads they must support. Said uprights and shelves that make up the basic structure of a bookcase can be made of different materials and can be implemented in different shapes depending on the specific design. If the basic structure of a bookcase is created by intersecting uprights and shelves that may be made of different materials that are fit for purpose, for example, wood, composite panels, metal structures or other, such that, in order to strengthen the structure, there are applied, by means of interlocking joints between the uprights and shelves, rear panels that strengthen the structure in question being also, for this purpose, known reinforcing devices including tie bars that are suitably positioned to be secured to different elements of the bookcase structure and, again for the purpose of reinforcement, there is the facility to use devices of known type fit for purpose, such as, by way of example, squares or brackets that are appropriately fixed to the structure of uprights and shelves.

Among the various models of bookcase possible, some may be of the modular type, being configured to allow the composition of the unit to be customised further. Some known bookcase solutions are structured in such a way that some or all the compartments of which they are composed can be rotated, being configured with radial compartments on circular shelves, this solution allowing a different layout of the books supported by the shelf and different access possibility to the books for the user who, with respect to traditional type bookcases, on the one hand lacks the facility for complete visibility of the books on the shelves, while on the other hand and consequently, access is facilitated, thus allowing the user to deposit and withdraw books while standing in the same position in front of the rotatable shelf. Moreover, with regard in particular to the subject of this invention, prior art also includes bookcases equipped with lighting devices that may be of various types, all designed for illumination of the compartments, said lighting devices used for this purpose being of different types, with the facility for implementation also as accessories to the bookcase. Even though the lighting devices supplied with existing bookcase solutions may be of a variety of different known types, the use of LED lighting devices is a widely adopted practice for the illumination of bookcase shelves. Known solutions involve positioning of one or more lighting devices mounted to the upper part of the bookcase and oriented downwards in the direction of the bookcase front vertical plane.

In the described construction example, the reciprocal connection between right-hand side (21) and left-hand side (22), base panel (23) and upper panel (24) makes it possible to create a bookcase base unit (2) in the shape of a parallelepiped, however with the possibility that bookcase base unit (2) could have a different shape as far as compatible with the intended use and the specific construction design. Additionally, bookcase base unit (2), as per the described construction example in FIG. 7, is preferably implemented in such a way as to include at least one upright (5), implemented in the example with a known type of panel, said upright (5) being located between right-hand side (21) and left-hand side (22) and parallel to them, being, appropriately and conveniently connected to at least said upright (5) and appropriately connected to said right-hand side (21) and left-hand side (22) of bookcase base unit (2), there by at least one known type of shelf (6), said shelf (6) being orthogonal to upright (5) and to the right-hand side (21) and to the left-hand side (22) of the bookcase base unit (2), wherein said shelf (6) is parallel with upper panel (24) and base panel (23). Although the bookcase base unit (2) may be of the open type, in the described construction example said bookcase base unit (2) is equipped with two doors (7) of known type, said doors in the example being hinged by known manner respectively to right-hand side (21) and to left-hand side (22) of bookcase base unit (2) such as to enable a book-type opening.

The bookcase (1) as per the innovation that is the subject of this invention is fashioned such that in addition to said bookcase base unit (2) there is also a bookcase central unit (3), in the described construction example and preferably, as shown in FIG. 5 and FIG. 7, said bookcase central unit (3) is fashioned in such a way as to include a small side (31) and a large side (32), one parallel with the other, wherein the small side (31) and large side (32) are reciprocally connected to at least one shaped base panel (33) and, symmetrically opposed to said shaped base panel (33), a shaped upper panel (34). More in detail, shaped base panel (33) and shaped upper panel (34) are implemented in such a way as to include an oblique rear side (331, 341), with both shaped base panel (33) and shaped upper panel (34) being symmetrical and implemented in such a way as to include also a first transverse side (332, 342) with a second longitudinal side (334, 344), wherein the first longitudinal side (333, 343) in the example is shorter than the second longitudinal side (334, 344) and wherein there is a second transverse side (335, 345), opposite and parallel to said first transverse side (332, 342). In the described example, the first transverse side (332, 342) is longer than the second transverse side (335, 345). Moreover, bookcase central unit (3), between shaped base panel (33) and shaped upper panel (34) and between small side (31) and large side (32), is equipped with a series of uprights (5) which, in the described example, are three in number, being positioned contiguously and equidistantly.

Furthermore, bookcase central unit (3) is equipped with shelves (6) that are mounted in parallel between shaped base panel (33) and shaped upper panel (34), said shelves (6) being suitably positioned orthogonally to said uprights (5) with which bookcase central unit (3) is equipped, in the described example said shelves (6) are three in number and they are positioned equidistantly. In this manner, the reciprocal positions of said uprights (5) and said shelves (6) result, in known manner, that bookcase central unit (3) to acquires a series of compartments (10) able to accommodate objects. Necessarily, due to the shape of bookcase central unit (3) and especially to the shape of shaped base panel (33) and shaped upper panel (34), also said uprights (5) and shelves (6) must be implemented in such a way as to be compatible with said shapes, especially with regard to the portion of shaped base panel (33) and shaped upper panel (34) in correspondence with the part that incorporates the oblique rear side (331, 341). The bookcase central unit (3), as shown in detail in FIG. 4, also includes a first base panel (35) and a second base panel (36) wherein, in the example, the second base panel (36) is located in correspondence with the portion of bookcase central unit (3) corresponding to the portion of the panel that includes the oblique rear side (331, 341) of shaped base panel (33) and of shaped upper panel (34). Moreover, in the described construction example, bookcase central unit (3) is of the open type without doors (7), it being anyway possible also for bookcase central unit (3) to be equipped with doors (7) of known type.

Innovatively, interposed between bookcase base unit (2) and bookcase central unit (3), bookcase (1) as at the innovation that is the subject of this invention, is equipped with a first positioning plate (8), preferably metal, which latter is appropriately engaged to the top of the first upper panel (24) using known threaded fixing devices. In greater detail, as illustrated in FIG. 5, first positioning plate (8), designed to allow semi-rotated positioning of bookcase central unit (3) relative to bookcase base unit (2), includes engagement seats (9) located in predetermined positions such that bookcase central unit (3) can be engaged in fixed and predetermined positions relative to bookcase base unit (2). Examining the described construction example in greater detail, as particularly represented in FIG. 5, the first positioning plate (8) is implemented with a shape such as to allow positioning of bookcase central unit (3) with respect to bookcase base unit (2) to take place without fully revealing positioning plate (8), regardless of the position assumed by bookcase central unit (3) relative to bookcase base unit (2).

In the described example, engagement locations (9) of first positioning plate (8) are four in number, arranged in opposing pairs, and they correspond to the position assumed by the corresponding engagement locations (9) fitted to the bookcase base unit (2) upper panel (24), with which the first positioning plate (8) is to be engaged. The shaped base panel (33) of bookcase central unit (3), appropriately equipped with engagement locations (9) arranged in such a way as to allow positioning of the bookcase base unit (2) and the first positioning plate (8) to occur at predetermined positions defined by positioning of engagement locations (9) with which the shaped base panel (33) of bookcase central unit (3) is likewise engaged with said first positioning plate (8).

In the example, as shown in FIG. 5, the engagement locations (9) with which the shaped base panel (33) of bookcase central unit (3) is equipped are suitably positioned over an arc such as to assure cooperation between engagement locations (9) in first positioning plate (8) and the upper panel (24) of bookcase base unit (2) to allow semi-rotated positioning of bookcase central unit (3) in predetermined positions, in the described construction example and, preferably, reciprocal positioning of engagement locations (9) respectively of shaped base panel (33) of bookcase central unit (3), of first positioning plate (8) and upper panel (24) of bookcase base unit (2) is such as to allow positioning of bookcase central unit (3) in relation to bookcase base unit (2) as though they were pivoted on the same axis of rotation. Viewing the example in detail, as illustrated in FIG. 5, the layout of the engagement locations (9) of shaped base panel (33) allow positioning of bookcase central unit (3) relative to bookcase base unit (2) in three different locations, in which the first base panel (35) of bookcase central unit (3) is aligned with base panel (25) of bookcase base unit (2); a second position in which the second base panel (36) of bookcase central unit (3) is aligned with base panel (25) of bookcase base unit (2), and a third position in which bookcase central unit (3) is located at an intermediate position between said first position and said second position. In any case, the possibility is envisaged that the configuration of engagement locations (9) in upper panel (24) of bookcase base unit (2), first positioning plate (8), and shaped base panel (33) of bookcase central unit (3) be such as to allow reciprocal positioning of bookcase central unit (3) relative to bookcase base unit (2) to be subject to predetermined positions that may also differ from the aforementioned three positions. Fixing bookcase central unit (3) to bookcase base unit (2) in a predetermined position with interposition of first positioning plate (8) occurs by means of known fixing devices, preferably threaded, that appropriately engage and in a known manner the engagement locations (9) of upper panel (24) of bookcase base unit (2) with first positioning plate (8) and with shaped base panel (33) of bookcase central unit (3).

The bookcase (1), as represented in the diagrams in FIGS. 1 to 7, in the described example, in addition to bookcase base unit (2) and bookcase central unit (3), includes bookcase upper unit (4) connected to bookcase central unit (3), where bookcase upper unit (4) is fashioned in such a way as to include a right-hand side (41) and a left-hand side (42), both latter sides being reciprocally symmetrical and parallel with one another, wherein right-hand side (41) and left-hand side (42) are reciprocally connected to a lower panel (43) and a summit panel (44), this latter being symmetrically opposed to said lower panel (43). The bookcase upper unit (4), as particularly illustrated in FIG. 4 and in FIG. 7, is further equipped with rear panel (45) appropriately connected in known manner at least respectively to right-hand side (41), to left-hand side (42), to lower panel (43) and to summit panel (44). In the described construction example, the reciprocal connection between right-hand side (41) and left-hand side (42), lower panel (43) and summit panel (44) makes it possible to implement a bookcase upper unit (4) in the shape of a parallelepiped, providing, however for the possibility that bookcase upper unit (4) could have a different shape, as far as compatible with the intended use and the specific construction design. Furthermore, bookcase upper unit (4), as in the construction example described and preferably, is implemented in such a way as to include at least one upright (5), implemented in the example with a panel of known type, said upright being positioned between right-hand side (41) and left-hand side (42), in parallel with these latter, it is provided that there be at least one shelf (6) of known type be suitably fixed to said upright (5) and to said right-hand side (41) and left-hand side (42) of bookcase upper unit (4). Shelf (6) with which bookcase upper unit (4) is equipped is positioned orthogonally to upright (5) and to right-hand panel (41) and left-hand side (42), said shelf (6) being parallel to lower panel (43) and to summit panel (44). Even though bookcase upper unit (4) may be of the open type, the construction example described includes the provision that said bookcase upper unit (4) be equipped with two doors (7) of a known type, the latter being hinged, in the example, in accordance with known art respectively to right-hand side (41) and to left-hand side (42) of bookcase upper body (4), such as to implement a book-type opening system.

In order to allow bookcase central unit (3) to be set in a semi-rotated position relative to bookcase upper unit (4), it is envisaged that, as illustrated in particular in FIG. 5, in interposition between bookcase central unit (3) and bookcase upper unit (4), bookcase (1), as per the innovation that is the subject of this invention, is equipped with a second positioning plate (11), preferably metal, which latter is equipped with engagement locations (9) located in a predetermined position for engagement of both the corresponding engagement locations (9) with which shaped upper panel (34) of bookcase central unit (3) is equipped, and with the corresponding engagement locations (9) with which bookcase upper unit (4) is equipped in correspondence with lower panel (43). Regarding the described construction example in greater detail, as illustrated in particular in FIG. 5, second positioning plate (11) features four engagement locations (9) arranged in opposing pairs, while lower panel (43) of bookcase upper unit (4) likewise features engagement locations (9) compatible with those in the second positioning plate (11). Moreover, shaped upper panel (34) of bookcase central unit (3) is equipped with engagement locations (9), appropriately configured in an arc formation and distributed in such a way that cooperation between engagement locations (9) as at second positioning plate (11) and shaped upper panel (34) of bookcase central unit (3) allow semi-rotated positioning of bookcase central unit (3) in predetermined positions where, in the described construction example and preferably, reciprocal positioning of engagement locations (9) respectively of shaped upper panel (34) of bookcase central unit (3), and engagement locations (9) of second positioning plate (11) and summit panel (44) of bookcase upper unit (4), are such as to allow positioning of bookcase central unit (3) relative to bookcase upper unit (4) as if they were pivoted on the same axis of rotation.

Viewing the described example in detail, as illustrated in FIG. 5, the layout of engagement locations (9) of shaped upper panel (34) allow bookcase central unit (3) to be positioned relative to bookcase upper unit (4) in three different locations, of which a first position in which first base panel (35) of bookcase central unit (3) is aligned with rear panel (45) of bookcase upper unit (4); a second position in which second base panel (36) of bookcase central unit (3) is aligned with rear panel (45) of bookcase upper unit (4), and a third position in which bookcase central unit (3) is located at an intermediate position between said first position and said second position. In any case, the possibility is provided that the layout of engagement locations (9) in lower panel (43) of bookcase upper unit (4), second positioning plate (11) and shaped upper panel (34) of bookcase central unit (3) are such as to ensure reciprocal positioning of bookcase central unit (3) relative to bookcase upper unit (4) also occurs in predetermined positions that may also differ from the aforementioned three positions. Fixing, in a predetermined position, of bookcase central unit (3) to bookcase upper unit (4) with interposition of second positioning plate (11) occurs by means of known fixing devices, preferably threaded, that appropriately and in a known manner, connect engagement locations (9) of lower panel (43) of bookcase base unit (2), to second positioning plate (11) and to shaped upper panel (34) of bookcase central unit (3). Second positioning plate (11) is implemented in such a way as to be suitably shaped to ensure positioning of bookcase central unit (3) relative to bookcase upper unit (4) occurs without said second positioning plate (11) of bookcase central unit (3) being fully revealed, regardless of the position assumed by bookcase central unit (3) relative to bookcase upper unit (4).

Given the described structure of bookcase (1) as per the innovation that is the subject of this invention, bookcase central unit (3) can also be set in a semi-rotated position relative to both bookcase base unit (2) and to bookcase upper unit (4), said position being allowed by fixed and predetermined positions imposed by the predetermined location of engagement locations (9). The solution that is the subject of this innovation also includes the possibility of semi-rotated positioning not only of bookcase central unit (3) relative to bookcase base unit (2) and to bookcase upper unit (4), but also of semi-rotated positioning of bookcase base unit (2) relative to bookcase central unit (3) and/or bookcase upper unit (4) relative to bookcase central body (3) in accordance with the positions permitted by engagement locations (9) as at first positioning plate (8) and the second positioning plate (11), and by engagement locations (9) with which shaped base panel (33) and shaped upper panel (34) of bookcase central unit (3) are equipped and by positioning of engagement locations (9) with which upper panel (24) of bookcase base unit (2) and lower panel (43) of bookcase upper unit (4) are equipped.

Furthermore, bookcase central unit (3) is at least expected to be innovatively equipped with multi-compartment LED lighting devices (12) such as to provide simultaneous lighting of at least two contiguous compartments (10) and at least bookcase central unit (3). Viewing the described construction example in greater detail, as particularly represented in FIG. 5, in FIG. 7 and in FIG. 8, shelves (6) of bookcase central unit (3) are implemented in such a way as to be of lesser depth relative to the depth of uprights (5) of bookcase central unit (3) and that said shelves (6) of bookcase central unit (3) be implemented in such a way that their front part is implemented in such a way as to include a first oblique wall (61) and a second oblique wall (62). In greater detail, as represented in particular in figures from 6 to 8, first oblique wall (61) is opposed to second oblique wall (62), both walls being joined along a longitudinal edge in such a way that, as represented in particular in FIG. 8, the front part of shelf (6) has an angular shape, said shape deriving from the fact that the first oblique wall (61) is connected to the second oblique wall (62) both of which being reciprocally inclined. Furthermore, as represented in particular in the diagrams in FIG. 7 and FIG. 8, multi-compartment lighting device (12) with which bookcase (1) is equipped, features lighting profile (13) implemented in such a way as to incorporate a longitudinal channel housing (131) containing and holding at least one LED lighting device (14), appropriately equipped in a known manner with activation devices of a known type, power supply devices and activation devices, with said supply and activation devices being appropriately connected in known manner to LED lighting devices (14).
