Claims
- 1. A method of preparing aqueous boron cross-linking solutions for gelling aqueous treating fluids containing hydratable polymers for dispersement in oil and gas reservoirs comprising dissolving an alpha hydroxy carboxylic acid in water; adding boron to establish a molar ratio of alpha hydroxy carboxylic acid to boron of from 0.1-10.0 to 1.0; and adjusting the pH of the boron crosslinking solution to at least 6.0; and thereafter adding an alkali metal hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide or water soluble amines sufficient to produce a pH of 6-8.
- 2. A method of preparing aqueous boron cross-linking solutions for gelling aqueous treating fluids containing hydratable polymers for dispersement in oil and gas reservoirs comprising dissolving an alpha hydroxy carboxylic acid in water; adding boric acid having a concentration of boron measured as boric acid of between 1% to 25% by weight to the solution formed; and thereafter adding an alkali metal hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide or water soluble amines sufficient to produce a pH of 6-8.
- 3. The method of claim 2 wherein 1% to 10% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid is added.
- 4. The method of claim 2 wherein 1% to 10% glycerine is added.
- 5. The method of claim 2 wherein 1% to 10% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid and glycerine are added.
- 6. The method of claim 2 wherein the boric acid is at a concentration between 10% and 20% by weight.
- 7. The method of claim 2 wherein ammonium hydroxide was added to produce a pH of 6-8.
- 8. A method of preparing aqueous boron cross-linking solutions for gelling aqueous treating fluids containing hydratable polymers for dispersement in oil and gas reservoirs comprising dissolving tartaric, citric or lactic acid in water; adding boric acid having a concentration of boron measured as boric acid of between 1% to 25% by weight to the solution formed; and thereafter adding an alkali metal hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide or water soluble amines sufficient to produce a pH of 6-8.
- 9. The method as claim 8 wherein the alkali metal hydroxides are selected from sodium and potassium.
- 10. The method of claim 8 wherein 1% to 10% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid is added.
- 11. The method of claim 8 wherein 1% to 10% glycerine is added.
- 12. The method of claim 8 wherein 1% to 10% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid and glycerine are added.
- 13. The method of claim 8 wherein the boric acid is at a concentration between 10% and 20% by weight.
