BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Boxing bags or heavy bags are used to practice boxing, punching and kicking. Typically the diameter is such that one can punch or kick the bag, circle left or right, while punching or kicking.

Standard boxing bags are too wide and have too large of a diameter to throw hook punches. Standard boxing bags are about 38 inches in height and about 14 inches in diameter, which represents a height to diameter ratio of about 2.7:1.

However the diameter is such that one cannot learn how to throw effective hook punches. The 14 inch diameter bag is too large to throw effective hook punches.

There exists a need to have a boxing bag with the correct ratio of diameter and length so the user can learn to thrown effective hook punches.

There also exists a need for boxing bags for different weight classes and different body types.

FIG. 1 represents a top view of an embodiment of the present invention 10. The diameter 20 may be about eight (8) inches and as seen in FIG. 2, the length 30 may be about 39.5 inches. This type of bag may be appropriate for a youth feather-weight or light-weight boxer.

FIG. 1 also illustrates a zipper seal 70 to open or close the bag 10. The zipper seal 70 may be used to fill the bag with filler material after the bag 10 is made, and before it 10 is used.

Different types of filler material include, but are not limited to sand, rice, or grains.

FIG. 3 illustrates an embodiment whereby the bag 10 has straps 80 secured to the bag 10, and two straps 80 may go through a D-ring 90, and two other straps 80 may go through a second D-ring 90, each D-ring 90 may clip on a hood or carabiner extending from a ceiling or other structure.

In another embodiment, for a medium-weight boxer, the diameter 20 may be about 9 inches and the length 30 may be about 39.5 inches.

In another embodiment, for a heavy-weight boxer the diameter 20 may be about 12 inches in diameter, and the length 30 may be about 47.5 inches.

Each bag 10 may be either hard 40 or soft 50, or medium hard 60.

FIG. 4 illustrates an embodiment of a bottom of a bag 10. In this embodiment the bottom may have a single bottom strap 100 with a bottom D-ring 110 connected to it. This will allow the user to connect the bottom D-ring 110 to a fixed object or hook, to prevent the bag 10 from unwanted swaying during punching.

FIG. 5 illustrates an embodiment whereby the top of the bag may be retained closed, or open and closed by way of the top of the bag 10 having a plurality of eyelets 120 that string 130 or rope 130 may go through the eyelets 120 to tie the top of the bag 10 and to open and close the bag 10.

FIG. 6 illustrates an embodiment whereby a chain 160 may be secured to the top of the bag housing 150. The chain 160 may then be connected to a ceiling or a fixture, such as a hook descending from a ceiling. There may be 1 to 4 such chains 160.

Any bag housing may be filled to be hard, medium hard, and soft.

Any bag housing may be made from any suitable material, including leather and canvas.
