Abstract
A boxing bag is described comprising a body extending between a lower surface and an opposite upper surface along a longitudinal direction and having a peripheral surface connecting the lower surface and the upper surface; a housing configured to accommodate a multimedia device, integrated with the body and defined on the peripheral surface of the body.
Description
FIELD

The present invention relates to a boxing bag usable, for example, for training professional or amateur boxers.

BACKGROUND

A boxing bag is known in the state of the art. Such a boxing bag comprises a body extending between a lower surface and an opposite upper surface along a longitudinal direction and having a peripheral surface connecting the lower surface and the upper surface.

For example, “standing” type boxing bags are known in which the bag comprises a support base connected to the body, at the lower surface of the body, and configured to allow the positioning of the bag on a support surface such as, for example, a floor.

Alternatively, “hanging” type boxing bags are known in which the bag comprises constraining means, arranged at the upper surface of the body, and configured to reversibly constrain the bag to a support, so that the bag is hung on such a support.

It is also known that the boxer, during training, hits the body of the bag by performing a series of targeted exercises depending on the type of training carried out. In order to guide the boxer to the correct performance of the physical exercises and in order to monitor parameters related to the exercise, the existence of a specific application for multimedia devices, such as smartphones, is known.

In particular, such an application suggests the type of exercise to be carried out to the boxer and at the same time, taking advantage of the sensors integrated in the multimedia device, allows to monitor parameters such as, for example, the intensity of the punch swung at the body of the bag and the calories consumed during the performance of the specific exercise.

In order to effectively use such a specific application, it is necessary to constrain the multimedia device to the body of the bag. For this purpose, the use of a belt is known which can be secured to the body of the bag and has a housing for the multimedia device. By inserting the multimedia device in the housing and attaching the belt to the body of the bag, the multimedia device is constrained to the body of the bag.

Problems of the Background Art

However, due to the continuous impacts inflicted on the body of the bag during the performance of an exercise by a boxer, the belt often slides along the longitudinal extension direction of the body. In other words, during the performance of the exercise, the position of the housing on the peripheral surface of the body of the bag, and consequently the position of the multimedia device inserted in said housing, varies.

Changing the position of the multimedia device during the exercise may lead to an incorrect measurement of the parameters associated with the exercise by the application installed in such a device and, at the same time, may force the boxer to interrupt the exercise.

In fact, if the belt slides along the body of the bag during the exercise, until it reaches the position on the body usually struck by the boxer during the exercise, it is necessary to reposition the belt to avoid striking the device arranged in the housing.

In addition, due to the violent impacts inflicted by the boxer on the body of the bag during the performance of the exercise, the belt may also break, in particular the fixing means of the belt to the body of the bag may break. Such a belt being elastic and therefore taut when applied to the body of the bag, following the breakage of the fixing means, such a belt can hit, for example, the face of the boxer.

Finally, as is evident, in order to use the application installed in the multimedia device, it is necessary to buy, in addition to the boxing bag, the belt with a special housing, with the risk that such a belt will be lost or stolen.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENTS

In this context, the technical task underlying the present invention is to propose a boxing bag which overcomes the drawbacks of the prior art.

In particular, it is an object of the present invention to propose a boxing bag which allows a multimedia device to be stably constrained to the body of the bag, avoiding the displacement of the multimedia device following the punches swung by the boxer.

The technical task mentioned and the objects stated are substantially achieved by a boxing bag comprising the technical features set out in one or more of the appended claims.

Advantages of the Invention

By virtue of a preferred embodiment of the invention, it is possible to ensure that the position of the multimedia device on the peripheral surface of the body of the bag remains stable even following the punches swung by the boxer on such a body, allowing the application to effectively measure the parameters associated with the exercise.

Thanks to the preferred embodiment of the invention, it is also possible to prevent the multimedia device from being damaged during the performance of the physical exercise and, at the same time, to prevent the boxer from being injured during the performance of the physical exercise.

With particular reference to the appended figures, the reference numeral 1 indicates a boxing bag.

Such a bag 1 comprises a body 2 extending between a lower surface 21 and an opposite upper surface 22 along a longitudinal direction X-X and having a peripheral surface 23 connecting the lower surface 21 and the upper surface 22. As is known per se to those skilled in the art, in order to train, a boxer hits the body 2 of the bag 1 with punches and/or kicks.

Preferably, the bag 1 comprises a support base 5 connected to the body 2 at the lower surface 21 of such a body 2. Such a support base 5 is positionable on a support surface (not illustrated) to allow the positioning of the bag 1 on such a support surface.

Alternatively to the support base 5, the bag 1 may comprise constraining means 6 connected to the body 2 at the upper surface 22 of said body 2. Such constraining means 6 are configured to reversibly constrain the bag 1 to a support (not shown). For example, such constraining means 6 are embodied in a first hook (not shown) reversibly constrainable to a second hook of the support, so as to hang the bag 1 on the support.

In addition, the bag 1 comprises a housing 3 configured to accommodate a multimedia device 10 such as, for example, a smartphone or a tablet.

Such a housing 3 is integrated with the body 2 and is defined on the peripheral surface 23 of such a body 2. Such a housing 3 is therefore visible by a boxer who trains with the bag 1.

Preferably, the housing 3 is arranged near the upper surface 22 of the body 2. Alternatively, the housing 3 is arranged near the lower surface 21 of the body 2.

Since the housing 3 is integrated with the body 2, following the punches swung by a boxer on the body 2 of the bag 1, the housing 3 does not undergo relative displacements with respect to such a body 2. In other words, following the punches swung by the boxer on the body 2 of the bag 1, the position of the housing 3 on the peripheral surface 23 of the body 2 remains unchanged. Advantageously, when the multimedia device 10 is inserted in the housing 3 and the boxer strikes the body 2, the multimedia device 10 remains stably constrained to the body 2 of the bag 1, avoiding variations in the position of the multimedia device 10 on the peripheral surface 23 of the body 2.

Furthermore, since the position of the multimedia device 10 is fixed on the peripheral surface 23 of the body 2 when the multimedia device 10 is inserted in the housing 3 and therefore such a position is known, the algorithm of an application installed on the multimedia device 10 and used to monitor the parameters of the training carried out by the boxer, i.e., the parameters associated with the punches swung by the boxer on the body 2 of the bag 1, can be calibrated to such a specific position. Advantageously, by calibrating the application to such a specific position, it is possible to improve the performance of the application, making the monitoring of the training parameters more efficient.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the housing 3 comprises a pocket 31 extending between a first 32 and an opposite second side 33 along a first extension direction Y-Y of the pocket 31. In addition, the housing 3 has an opening 34 arranged between the first 32 and the second side 33. The multimedia device 10 is insertable in the pocket 31 through the opening 34.

Preferably, the pocket 31 extends between the opening 34 and an opposite bottom 38 along a second extension direction Z-Z transverse to the first extension direction Y-Y.

Still preferably, the pocket 31 has a substantially rectangular shape.

In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, the pocket 31 is made in a single piece on the peripheral surface 23 of the body 2.

According to a first embodiment of the invention, the extension of the opening 34 and the bottom 38 along the first extension direction Y-Y of the pocket 31 is less than the extension of the first 32 and the second side 33 along the second extension direction Z-Z of the pocket 1.

In accordance with a second embodiment of the invention alternative to the first embodiment, the extension of the opening 34 and the bottom 38 along the first extension direction Y-Y of the pocket 31 is greater than the extension of the first 32 and the second side 33 along the second extension direction Z-Z of the pocket 1.

In accordance with a third embodiment of the invention, which can be combined with both the first and the second embodiment of the invention, the first extension direction Y-Y of the pocket 31 is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction X-X.

In accordance with a fourth embodiment of the invention alternative to the third embodiment and combinable with both the first and the second embodiment, the second extension direction Y-Y of the pocket 31 is parallel to the longitudinal direction X-X.

According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the pocket 31 comprises a wall 35 connecting the first 32 and the second side 33 of the pocket 31 and defining the opening 34 of the pocket 31. Such a wall 35 has at least one transparent portion 36. Such a transparent portion 36 exposes the multimedia device 10 to view and allows the use of the multimedia device 10 when the multimedia device 10 is inserted in the pocket 31. Advantageously, the boxer can perform a specific exercise following the instructions dictated by the application installed in the multimedia device 10 and at the same time can monitor his or her performance.

According to an aspect, the wall 35 is made of elastic material and is configured to stably and reversibly constrain the multimedia device 10 to the body 2 of the bag 1. In other words, the wall 35 keeps the multimedia device 10 always in contact with the peripheral surface 23 of the body 2 of the bag 1. Advantageously, the wall 35 prevents the multimedia device 10 from moving in the pocket 31 as a result of the impacts inflicted by the boxer on the body 2 of the bag 1.

According to a further aspect, the housing 3 comprises closure means 37 configured to reversibly close the opening 34 of the pocket 31. The closure means 37 prevent the multimedia device 10 from accidentally exiting from the pocket 31, as a result of the punches swung onto the body 2 of the bag 1.

Preferably, the closure means 37 are selected from the group comprising a zip closure 37a, a Velcro closure 37b and a hermetic closure 37c. The zip closure 37a, the Velcro closure 37b and the hermetic closure 37c are in themselves known to those skilled in the art and will not be further described for this reason.

Many other benefits will no doubt become apparent from future application and development of this technology.
