Claims
- 1. A cross brace assembly for cross bracing a first spine rod and a second spine rod comprising:
- a cross brace wherein the cross brace comprises a "V" shaped bar;
- upper saddles; and
- means for connecting the upper saddles and cross brace to the first and second spine rods to thereby cross brace the first and second spine rods wherein the connecting means comprises:
- apertures in the cross brace, wherein one of the apertures is an elongated aperture;
- an aperture in each one of the upper saddles; and
- a pin passing through the elongated aperture of the cross brace to thereby allow an adjustable connection of the upper saddles to the cross brace.
- 2. A cross brace assembly as recited in claim 1 wherein the cross brace further comprises a first and second lower saddle integrally formed at each end of the cross brace wherein the second lower saddle encompasses the elongated aperture in the cross brace.
- 3. A cross brace assembly as recited in claim 2 wherein the connecting means further comprises a serrated platform on the second lower saddle for mating with the second spine rod and a groove in the upper saddle.
- 4. A cross brace assembly for cross bracing a first spine rod and a second spine rod comprising:
- a cross brace wherein the cross brace comprises a first and second lower saddle integrally formed at each end of the cross brace;
- upper saddles; and
- means for connecting the upper saddles and cross brace to the first and second spine rods to thereby cross brace the first and second spine rods wherein the connecting means comprises an adjusting means for connecting the upper saddles to the cross brace comprising:
- an elongated aperture in the second lower saddle of the cross brace and an aperture in the first lower saddle;
- an aperture in each one of the upper saddles;
- a pin passing through the elongated aperture in the second lower saddle of the cross brace and the aperture of one of the upper saddles, such that the pin can slide along the length of the elongated aperture to thereby allow adjustable connection of the upper saddle to the cross brace; and
- a bolt passing through the other aperture in the cross brace and the other upper saddle.
- 5. A cross brace assembly as recited in claim 4 wherein the means for adjustment further comprises a serrated platform on the second lower saddle for mating with the second spine rod and a groove in one of the upper saddles.
- 6. A cross brace assembly for cross bracing a first spine rod and a second spine rod comprising:
- a cross brace rod comprising:
- a "V"-shaped cross brace;
- a first lower saddle integrally molded to a first end of the cross brace, wherein the first lower saddle comprises:
- a groove for receiving the first spine rod; and
- a threaded aperture;
- a second lower saddle integrally molded to a second end of the cross brace wherein the second lower saddle comprises:
- a serrated platform for receiving the second spine rod at any point along the platform; and
- an elongated aperture; first and second upper saddles each comprising:
- an groove for securing one of the spine rods to one of the lower saddles; and
- an aperture;
- a bolt passing through the aperture of the first upper saddle and threading into the aperture of the first lower saddle for clamping the first upper saddle and the first lower saddle to the first spine rod; and
- a pin passing through the elongated aperture of the second lower saddle and the aperture of the second upper saddle, such that the pin can move along the length of the elongated aperture for slidably attaching the second upper saddle to the second lower saddle for clamping the groove of the second upper saddle to the second spine rod at a desired point along the serrated platform of the second lower saddle.
