Claims
- 1. In a method of making a branched hose construction comprising the steps of forming a T-connector to have a body portion provided with a pair of substantially oppositely directed legs extending therefrom and an outwardly directed branch leg extending therefrom intermediate said pair of legs, telescoping three tubular hoses respectively onto said legs so as to be disposed in fluid communication with each other through said T-connector, forming each said hose to have an outer peripheral surface and an annular end surface that is substantially transverse to the longitudinal axis thereof, forming said body portion to have an external peripheral surface adjacent said legs thereof, forming said body portion to have an annular shoulder adjacent each leg thereof and disposed substantially transverse to the longitudinal axis thereof and against which said annular end surface of its respective hose abuts and which is of a size that causes said outer peripheral surface of that respective hose to substantially mate with and thereby be substantially flush with said external peripheral surface of said body portion that is adjacent that respective hose, and clamping annular clamping means respectively about said hoses so as to clamp the hoses against their respective legs of said T-connector, the improvement comprising the step of forming each said annular shoulder of said T-connector to have an outwardly and axially extending projection means thereon that extends longitudinally from the respective annular shoulder and along the respective leg thereof so that each said hose has said annular end surface thereof merely initially abutting said projection means of its respective annular shoulder so that said annular end surface is initially spaced from that annular shoulder and thereafter being axially deformed around its respective projection means by the step of clamping its respective clamping means about said hose so as to substantially longitudinally embed that respective projection means therein.
- 2. A method of making a hose construction as set forth in claim 1 wherein the step of clamping causes each said clamping means to have part thereof that extends onto said body portion of said T-connector and thus over said annular shoulder of its respective leg.
- 3. A method of making a hose construction as set forth in claim 2 and including the step of forming said body portion of said T-connector to have annular recesses therein respectively adjacent said annular shoulders thereof to respectively receive said parts of said clamping means therein.
- 4. A method of making a hose construction as set forth in claim 1 and including the step of forming each said leg of said T-connector to have an annular groove means therein that receives a portion of its respective hose that is compressed therein by its respective clamping means.
- 5. A method of making a hose construction as set forth in claim 1 and including the step of forming each said annular shoulder to be disposed substantially at a right angle relative to its respective leg.
- 6. A method of making a hose construction as set forth in claim 1 and including the step of forming each said hose to have a slot means therein that interrupts said annular end surface thereof and receives a part of said projection means of its respective annular shoulder therein whereby said parts of said projection means and said slot means orient said hoses on said respective legs of said T-connector.
- 7. A method of making a hose construction as set forth in claim 6 and including the step of forming each said projection means to also extend outwardly from its respective leg of said T-connector.
- 8. A method of making a hose construction as set forth in claim 1 and including the step of forming each said annular shoulder of said T-connector to have a plurality of said projection means extending outwardly therefrom inboard of said outer peripheral edge thereof and in spaced apart relation.
