Abstract
The Break-Away Bag is primarily used to store and/or transport an auto inflation device. The bag offers a way to quickly deploy an auto inflation device during a water emergency situation. The bag can also be used to hold other non-emergency items which could be used during a non-emergency situation. The bag is made of a durable yet light-weight indoor/outdoor material with information strategically embroidered on the outside of the bag to assist the user with rapid deployment during an actual emergency. The Hook & loop fastening material can also be replaced with “dual-lock” type fastener and can be of any residential or industrial strength. A bead chord outlines the entire bag and is meant only to be decorative therefore making it optional.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

The Break-Away Storage Bag is used to store inflatable devices without the need to remove the device from the bag prior to inflation. When emergency situations dictate that time is of the essence, removing a device from its storage container can be the determining factor between life and death.

There is a need for an emergency inflatable raft to be stored in a reusable break-away storage container. The Break-Away Storage Bag will literally rip apart at specific seams as the pounds per square inch increases inside the bag.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING

For a better understanding of this invention, the following references will be made in conjunction with the accompanying figures in which:

FIG. 1.1 is front elevation perspective of the Break-Away Bag shown with the sides and top lid assembled to the main body (sides and bottom) of the bag.

FIG. 1.2 is and exploded view of the sides of the bags with the bead chord and Hook & loop or dual lock fastener detached from the side panel.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The Break-Away Bag is basically made of three materials: Indoor/outdoor material, Hook & loop or dual lock fastener and decorative bead chord. The indoor/outdoor material can be made of canvas, denim, polypropylene or other lightweight durable material. The carrying straps are designed for hand carrying or can also double as backpack style straps if the bag is being carried over distance before being deployed. The decorative bead chord is meant to outline each side of the entire case.

The Bag is designed to be reused (if needed) after the contents are inflated, however, the bag is not designed to have any use while the bag content is in use. The bag is intended to fit snug to break-away quickly during the inflation of its contents. The bag should be custom fitted for the particular design of inflatable device being stored inside For example; a Break-Away Bag for a one man auto inflatable kayak will not be the same size as a bag designed to fit a two person auto inflatable raft and vice versa. While the Bag is stored it should be placed with the lid facing up and heavy objects should be avoided being placed on top. The bag should not be hung from a mounted wall hook by the carrying straps, or stored in temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

With reference to drawing FIG. 1.1, the main body bag (1) is shown fully assembled. The main body (1) is constructed of any indoor/outdoor lightweight material and is shown with the lid (4) applied over the top of the bag. The two side panels (3) are also constructed of any indoor/outdoor material and are attached via hook and loop fasteners (7). The carrying straps (2) are made of any nylon or cotton webbing material and the strap cushion (6) are primarily cosmetic and can be constructed with any material. The pull tabs (5) are used to separate the side panel (3) from the main body (1) giving the user access to the bag contents

With reference to drawing, FIG. 1.2 the main bag body (1) is an exploded view shown with one side panel (3) detached. The side panels (3) are outlined with an optional decorative bead chord along the outer edges and Hook & loop (7) or dual lock fastener (7) stitched around the circumference of the panel. The lid (4) is shown detached also with hook and loop fastener stitched around the circumference of the lid (4) which will attach to the side panels (3) and main body (1) when fully assembled. The carrying straps (2) are not shown in this drawing.

Claims
  • 1. This product will break-apart automatically when the contents are inflated to operating pressure.
  • 2. This product can be used to transport items by either hand carry or “backpack” style transport using the carrying straps.
  • 3. This product can be re-assembled after it has been broken apart at the seams where side panels and lid are put together with Hook & loop or dual lock fastener.
