Claims
- 1. A buckle assembly comprising;
a) A substantially rectangular mating female member, having
i) a rear opening accommodate a strap or strip of slightly compressible material, ii) a front opening opposite the rear opening for receiving a male opening, and iii) a pair of side openings disposed between the rear and front openings, iv) an interior planar portion that ramps upward from the front opening, b) a mating male member having;
i) a forward portion for insertion in the front opening of said female member, ii) a lower surface and an upper surface disposed orthogonal to the forward portion, iii) in the plane perpendicular to the upper and lower surface, a pair of side surfaces, iv) a rear portion opposite the forward portion, v) a pair of spring-biased prongs extending from each of the side surfaces for engaging the side openings in said female member to provide a snap fit therewith, vi) a wedge extending downward from the front of the lower surface that cooperates with the ramp portion in said female member to urge the opposing side of the male member toward the inside of said female member, vii) gripping teeth disposed on the upper surface substantially opposite the wedge, c) wherein after a material strip has been inserted through the female member, inserting the male member into the female member urges the gripping teeth to compressively engage the inserted material strip whereby completing the buckle assembly, by snapping the prongs of said male into the side openings of the female member, securely grips the material strip between the teeth and the female member.
- 2. The buckle assembly of claim 1 further comprising a handle attached to at least one of the female and the male member.
- 3. The buckle assembly of claim 1 further wherein the male member comprises a substantially non-tapering segment and the ramp disposed between the forward portion and the wedge.
- 4. The buckle assembly of claim 1 further comprising a loop running through each of male and female.
- 5. The buckle assembly of claim 4 wherein the loop is attached to the portions of the male and female members that are distal from the inserting portions thereof.
- 6. An adjustable gripping assembly comprising;
a) a male member, b) a female for receiving the male member is detachable connection upon insertion therein, c) a strap connected to at least one of the male and female member, d) a flexible linear member slideably engaging at least one of said male and female member, e) whereby engaging said male in detachable engagement with said female member grips said flexible linear member, fixing the relative position thereof with respect to said strap.
- 7. An adjustable gripping assembly according to claim 6 wherein said strap is a loop running through each of said male member and said female member.
- 8. An adjustable gripping assembly according to claim 6 wherein said flexible linear member is a horse reins.
- 9. An adjustable gripping assembly according to claim 7 wherein said flexible linear member is a horse reins.
- 10. A buckle assembly comprising:
a) a male member, b) a female member having a first open end for receiving said male member and a second open end for passing a rope between the first and second open end thereof, c) means for detachably latching said male and female member, d) means for urging said male member to frictionally grasp said rope on the detachable latching with said female member.
- 11. A buckle assembly comprising:
a) a male member having spring biased latching prongs, b) a female member having,
i) a first opening at the proximal end for receiving said male member, ii) a second opening at the end distal from the first opening for passing a rope there through, iii) the first and second open end defining a channel having narrowing dimension from the proximal to the distal end of the female member iv) one or more additional opening disposed toward the distal end of the narrowing channel for receiving the spring biased latching prongs of said male member, c) whereby the inserting the front of said male member into the first opening on said female member urges the male member to frictionally engage and grasp a linear flexible member inserted through the first and second opening in said female member as the spring biased prongs of said male member engage and latch into the additional opening in said female member.
- 12. An adjustable gripping assembly according to claim 11 further comprising a loop strap running through each of said male member and said female member.
- 13. An adjustable gripping assembly according to claim 12 further comprising a linear flexible member.
- 14. An adjustable gripping assembly according to claim 13 wherein said flexible linear member is a horse reins.
- 15. A method of securing a first material strip in a buckle assembly the method comprising:
a) providing a material strip, b) providing a female buckling member, having a least a front, rear and pair of side opening, c) providing a male buckling member having spring biased prongs for engaging the female member, d) inserting the material strip through the front and rear openings of said female member, e) inserting the male member into the female member to frictionally engage the material strip there between, f) snapping the spring biased prongs of the male buckling member into the side openings of the female member to latch the male and female member together.
- 16. A method of securing a first material strip in a buckle assembly according to claim 15 further comprising the step of providing a handle attached to at least one of the male and female buckle member.
- 17. A method of securing a first material strip in a buckle assembly according to claim 15 wherein the male buckle member comprises gripping teeth
- 18. A method of securing a first material strip in a buckle assembly according to claim 17 wherein the male buckle member comprises a ramp portion disposed opposite the gripping teeth thereon.
- 19. A method of securing a first material strip in a buckle assembly according to claim 15 wherein the female buckle member comprises a wedge for engaging the ramp in the male buckle portion.
- 20. A method of securing a first material strip in a buckle assembly according to claim 16 wherein the handle is a loop strap connecting the male and female member and the material strip is a horse reins.
