Claims
- 1. A buoyancy compensator device, comprising:
- a) a body having an inside and an outside;
- b) said body including a central portion and left and right side portions;
- c) said central portion including a securing member extending from the outside thereof and adapted for securing an air tank to said body;
- d) a harness attached to said central portion and adapted for securing said body to a wearer;
- e) said harness including a pair of shoulder straps;
- f) each of said shoulder straps having a first connection location and a second connection location; and
- g) each of said first and second connection locations being disposed on said central portion.
- 2. The buoyancy compensator device as set forth in claim 1, wherein:
- a) said first connection location is spaced from said second connection location on said central portion.
- 3. The buoyancy compensator device as set forth in claim 1, wherein:
- a) said first connection location is vertically spaced from said second connection location on said central portion.
- 4. The buoyancy compensator device as set forth in claim 1, wherein:
- a) said harness includes a torso band disposed on the inside of said body.
- 5. The buoyancy compensator device as set forth in claim 1, wherein:
- a) each of said shoulder straps includes an upper portion and a lower portion; and
- b) said upper portions of said shoulder straps are secured together at said first connection location.
- 6. The buoyancy compensator device as set forth in claim 5, wherein:
- a) a shoulder strap connection portion joins both of said shoulder straps together and to said central portion at said first connection location.
- 7. The buoyancy compensator device as set forth in claim 1, and including:
- a) a weighted member releasably connected to said body.
- 8. The buoyancy compensator device as set forth in claim 7, wherein:
- a) said weighted member is releasably connected to said body by a line, whereby removal of said line releases said weighted member from the buoyancy compensator device.
- 9. The buoyancy compensator device as set forth in claim 1, and including:
- a) a liquid dispensing container.
- 10. A buoyancy compensator device, comprising:
- a) a body having an inside and an outside;
- b) said body including a securing band extending from said outside and adapted for securing an air tank to said body;
- c) said body having a harness attached thereto adapted for securing said body to a wearer;
- d) said harness including a torso band and a pair of shoulder straps;
- e) said body includes a back pad located on said inside of said body; and
- f) a connection member for securing said back pad and said shoulder straps to said body.
- 11. The buoyancy compensator device as set forth in claim 10, wherein:
- a) said back pad is removably attached to said body.
- 12. The buoyancy compensator device as set forth in claim 10, wherein:
- a) said back pad includes upper and lower portions; and
- b) said lower portion is wider than said upper portion.
- 13. The buoyancy compensator device as set forth in claim 10, wherein:
- a) said back pad includes a front side adapted to contact the back of a wearer and a back side;
- b) said back side includes a buoyancy compensator engaging device and a tank engaging device spaced from said buoyancy compensator engaging device.
- 14. The buoyancy compensator device as set forth in claim 13, wherein:
- a) said tank engaging device includes a pocket formed in said back side of said back pad; and
- b) said pocket includes an opening therein for receiving a portion of said tank engaging device.
- 15. The buoyancy compensator device as set forth in claim 14, wherein:
- a) said tank engaging device includes a substantially rigid tank engaging seat having a strap connected thereto for encircling and securing said back pad to a tank.
- 16. The buoyancy compensator device as set forth in claim 15, wherein:
- a) said tank engaging strap includes a strap of substantially flexible material including a camming device secured thereto for exerting a substantial tank engaging force on said strap and hook and loop fastener means for engaging a strap end to said strap.
- 17. The buoyancy compensator device as set forth in claim 15, wherein:
- a) said tank engaging strap includes a strip of tank engaging material for preventing slippage of said tank when said strap is secured thereto.
