Claims
- 1. A buoyant lounge chair for supporting a person while the chair is floating in water, comprising:a chair frame including a seat frame and a back frame pivotably coupled to the seat frame for closing rotational movement to a folded position in which the back frame extends proximate the seat frame, and for opening rotational movement to an upright position in which the back frame projects transversely to the seat frame; buoyant cushions attached to the seat frame and to the back frame, thereby forming a chair seat and a chair back, the buoyant cushions including layers of flexible cushion material secured together in overlapping relation about the seat frame and the back frame, respectively; and stop apparatus coupled the chair frame for stopping opening rotation of the back frame at the upright position.
- 2. The buoyant lounge chair as set forth in claim 1, wherein the buoyant cushion layers are disposed in a water-tight seal about the seat frame and the back frame, respectively.
- 3. The buoyant lounge chair as set forth in claim 1, wherein at least one of the cushion layers forming a continuous body support surface that transitions through an angle from the chair back to the chair seat when the chair seat is in the upright position.
- 4. The buoyant lounge chair as set forth in claim 1, the stop apparatus comprising a stop member attached to one of the seat frame and the back frame, the stop member disposed for rotation limiting engagement against the other frame as the back frame reaches the upright position.
- 5. The buoyant lounge chair as set forth in claim 1, the stop apparatus including first and second stop members mounted on the seat frame and the back frame, respectively, the stop members being disposed for rotation limiting engagement against each other as the back frame reaches the upright position.
- 6. The buoyant lounge chair as set forth in claim 1, wherein the stop apparatus is engagable against one of the seat frame and the back frame to fix the chair back in the upright position, and releasable therefrom to permit closing rotational movement of the chair back to the folded position.
- 7. A buoyant lounge chair for supporting a person while the chair is floating in water, comprising in combination:interconnected rigid frame members collectively forming an open chair frame, the rigid frame members including a seat frame and a back frame pivotally coupled to the seat frame; and buoyant cushions enclosing the seat frame and back frame, thereby forming a chair seat and a chair back, the cushions including first and second layers of flexible cushion material that are secured together in overlapping relation with each other, with the seat frame and back frame being confined between the overlapping layers.
- 8. The buoyant lounge chair as set forth in claim 7, further comprising:stop apparatus disposed on the chair frame and engagable with one of the seat frame and the back frame for fixing the chair back in the upright position, and releasable therefrom to permit closing rotational movement of the chair back to the folded position.
- 9. The buoyant lounge chair as set forth in claim 7, including a stop member disposed on the chair frame for rotation limiting engagement against one of the seat frame and the back frame as the back frame reaches the upright position.
- 10. The buoyant lounge chair as set forth in claim 7, one of the cushions forming a continuous body support surface that transitions through an angle from the chair back to the chair seat when the chair seat is in the upright position.
