Claims
- 1. A burr removing method comprising:disposing a cutter having a circular cutting edge such that a flank of the cutter is substantially in parallel with a surface of a steel piece on which a burr exists, and such that: R/2+W/2<Δ<R−W/2 (1) where W is the width of the burr, R is a radius of the cutter, Δ is a shortest distance from a center of the cutter to a center line of the width of the burr; andcutting the burr with the cutter by relatively moving the cutter toward an outside of the steel piece along a lengthwise direction of the burr.
- 2. A method according to claim 1, wherein the cutter is a rotatable cutter having a circular cutting edge.
- 3. A burr removing apparatus comprising:a burr detector; two cutters that each have a circular cutting edge, and that are adapted to be disposed across a steel piece; and a drive control mechanism for; (i) causing the cutters to approach a burr in reponse to a burr detecting signal output by said burr detectors, (ii) disposing the cutters such that: R/2+W/2<Δ<R−W/2 (1) where W is the width of the burr, R is a radius of the cutter, Δ is a shortest distnce from a center of the cutter to a center line of the width of the burr, and(iii) then moving the cutters along a lengthwise direction of the burr.
