Claims
- 1. A cable shield ground clamp comprising:
- a generally U-shaped yoke having a pair of legs and defining a receiving aperture, said legs having opposed thread surfaces;
- keeper means mounted to said yoke, said keeper means comprising driver means and clamp jaw means disposed between said legs, said driver means being threadably engageable with said yoke thread surfaces for variable positioning said clamp jaw means therealong and for maintaining the position of said clamp jaw means at a selected fixed position relative to said yoke, said keeper means comprising lock means for locking said clamp jaw means at said fixed position, said lock means comprising a first surface on said driver means and a second surface on said clamp jaw means wherein said first surface engages said second surface; and
- ground connection means for connecting said yoke with a ground connector.
- 2. The cable shield clamp of claim 1 wherein said first surface comprises a plurality of radially extending grooves.
- 3. The cable shield clamp of claim 2 wherein said second surface comprises a plurality of radially extending projections wherein said projections are received by said grooves when said first surface engages said second surface, thereby resisting relative movement therebetween.
- 4. The cable shield clamp of claim 1 further comprising shoe means insertable between said keeper means and the cable conductor for protecting the cable conductor.
- 5. The cable shield clamp of claim 4 wherein said shoe means comprises an elongated semi-sleeve-like member having means defining a longitudinally extending channel for receiving the cable.
- 6. The cable shield clamp of claim 5 wherein said shoe means further comprises opposite first and second ends, said first end being tapered.
- 7. The cable shield clamp of claim 6 wherein said second end comprises a circumferential, radially extending collar.
- 8. The cable shield clamp of claim 6 wherein said second end comprises a radially extending tab.
- 9. The cable shield clamp of claim 4 wherein said shoe means is composed of electrically conductive material.
- 10. A cable shield ground clamp for a cable having at least one conductor surrounded by a conductive shield, the clamp comprising:
- a generally U-shaped yoke having a pair of legs and defining a receiving aperture, said legs having opposed thread surfaces;
- keeper means mounted to said yoke, said keeper means comprising driver means and clamp jaw means disposed between said legs, said driver means being threadably engageable with said yoke thread surfaces for variably positioning said clamp jaw means therealong in a longitudinal direction and for maintaining the position of said clamp jaw means at a selected fixed position relative to said yoke;
- ground connection means for connecting said yoke with a ground connector; and
- conductor protector means insertable between said clamp jaw means and the cable conductor for protecting the cable conductor, said conductor protector means being removable from said yoke in a direction normal to said longitudinal direction.
- 11. The cable shield clamp of claim 10 wherein said protector means comprises an elongated semi-sleeve-like member having means defining a longitudinally extending channel for receiving the cable.
- 12. The cable shield clamp of claim 11 wherein said protector means further comprises opposite first and second ends, said first end being tapered.
- 13. The cable shield clamp of claim 12 wherein said second end comprises a circumferential, radially extending collar.
- 14. The cable shield clamp of claim 12 wherein said second end comprises a radially extending tab.
- 15. The cable shield clamp of claim 10 wherein said protector means is composed of electrically conductive material.
- 16. A cable shield ground clamp for a cable having at least one conductor surrounded by a conductive shield, the clamp comprising:
- a generally U-shaped yoke having a pair of legs and defining a receiving aperture, said legs having opposed thread surfaces;
- keeper means mounted to said yoke, said keeper means comprising driver means and clamp jaw means disposed between said legs, said driver means being threadably engageable with said yoke thread surfaces for variably positioning said clamp jaw means therealong in a longitudinal direction and for maintaining the position of said clamp jaw means at a selected fixed position relative to said yoke;
- ground connection means for connecting said yoke with a ground connector; and
- conductor protector means insertable between the conductive shield and the cable conductor for protecting the cable conductor, said conductor protector means being removable from said yoke in a direction normal to said longitudinal direction.
- 17. The cable shield clamp of claim 16 wherein said protector means comprises an elongated semi-sleeve-like member having means defining a longitudinally extending channel for receiving the cable.
- 18. The cable shield clamp of claim 17 wherein said protector means further comprises opposite first and second ends, said first end being tapered.
- 19. The cable shield clamp of claim 18 wherein said second end comprises a circumferential, radially extending collar.
- 20. The cable shield clamp of claim 18 wherein said second end comprises a radially extending tab.
