The disclosure and prior art relates to covering devices and more particularly pertains to a new covering device for protecting a cake from bodily fluids from people gathered around the cake.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a cover is positionable over a cake. The cover is comprised of a fluid impermeable material to inhibit bodily fluids from being deposited on the cake. The cover has a plurality of apertures for insertably receiving candles. A plurality of cups is provided and each of the cups is coupled to the cover. Each of the cups is aligned with a respective one of the apertures. Moreover, each of the cups receives the candle in the respective aperture to inhibit the candle in the respective aperture from contacting the cake.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
The cover 12 has a top wall 20 and a perimeter wall 22 extending downwardly therefrom, and the perimeter wall 22 is coextensive with a perimeter 24 of the top wall 20. The perimeter 24 of the top wall 20 may be continuous such that the top wall 20 has a circular shape. In an alternative embodiment 26 as shown in
A plurality of cups 32 is provided and each of the cups 32 is coupled to the cover 12. Moreover, each of the cups 32 is aligned with a respective one of the apertures 16. Each of the cups 32 receives the candle 18 in the respective aperture. In this way the plurality of cups 32 inhibits the candle 18 in the respective aperture from contacting the cake 14. Each of the cups 32 has a basal wall 34 and an outer wall 36 extending upwardly therefrom. The outer wall 36 has a distal edge 38 with respect to the basal wall 34 to define an opening into the cups 32. The distal edge 30 of the basal wall 34 of each of the cups 32 is attached to the bottom surface 28 of the top wall 20 having the opening in each of the cups 32 being aligned with the respective aperture 16.
In use, the cover 12 is positioned over the cake 14 prior to commencing birthday celebrations or other occasion involving people being gathered around the cake 14. The candle(s) 18 is/are positioned in selected ones of the apertures 16 and the cups 32 inhibit the candle(s) 18 in the apertures 16 from contacting the cake 14. Moreover, the cover 12 inhibits saliva and bacteria from people who are attempting to blow out the candle(s) 18 from contacting the cake 14. In this way the cover 12 reduces the likelihood of bacteria being transferred between people and the cake 14 when the candle(s) 18 is/are blown out during birthday celebrations or the like. The cover 12 is removed from the cake 14 when the candle(s) 18 is/are blown out thereby facilitating the cake 14 to be eaten.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
