Abstract
A new Calibrachoa plant particularly distinguished by pink and white star patterned flowers with yellow throats and a mounding, upright plant habit, is disclosed.
Description

Genus and species: Calibrachoa sp.

Variety denomination: ‘KLECA16006’.

CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

The present application claims priority to Canadian Plant Breeder's Rights Application number 17-9141, as filed on Mar. 27, 2017. Plant Breeder's Rights for ‘KLECA16006’ were also applied for in Europe on Jun. 30, 2017 (Application number 2017-1688). ‘KLECA16006’ has not been made publicly available or sold more than one year prior to the effective filing date of this application.

BACKGROUND OF THE NEW PLANT

The present invention comprises a new and distinct variety of Calibrachoa, botanically known as Calibrachoa sp., and hereinafter referred to by the variety name ‘KLECA16006’. ‘KLECA16006’ originated from a controlled cross conducted in Stuttgart, Germany in the summer of 2013, between the proprietary female Calibrachoa variety ‘CA-2013-0480’ (unpatented) and the proprietary male Calibrachoa variety ‘CA-2013-0238’ (unpatented).

The seeds were sown and plants were grown for evaluation. A plant was selected in May 2014 which had pink and white star patterned flowers with yellow throats and was subsequently named ‘KLECA16006’. In May 2014, ‘KLECA16006’ was first vegetatively propagated by tip cuttings in Stuttgart, Germany. ‘KLECA16006’ was found to reproduce true to type in successive generations of asexual propagation via tip cuttings.

SUMMARY

The following are the most outstanding and distinguishing characteristics of this new variety when grown under normal horticultural practices in Stuttgart, Germany.

    • 1. Pink and white star patterned flowers with yellow throats; and
    • 2. A mounding, upright plant habit.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PHOTOGRAPH

This new Calibrachoa plant is illustrated by the accompanying photograph which shows the flowers and foliage of the plant. The photograph is of a nine-week-old plant grown in a greenhouse in Stuttgart, Germany in June 2016. The colors shown are as true as can be reasonably obtained by conventional photographic procedures.

DESCRIPTION OF THE NEW VARIETY

The following detailed descriptions set forth the distinctive characteristics of ‘KLECA16006’. The data which define these characteristics were collected from asexual reproductions carried out in Stuttgart, Germany. Data was collected on plants grown 17 weeks from sticking in a glass greenhouse in Stuttgart, Germany in June 2017. Color references are to The R.H.S. Colour Chart of The Royal Horticultural Society of London (R.H.S.), 5th edition (2007).
