Claims
- 1. A process for the preparation of an asymmetric calixarene derivative which comprises reacting a calixarene derivative represented by the following general formula: ##STR9## wherein n is an integer of 4 to 12;
- m is an integer of 1 to n; and
- R.sub.21 to R.sub.2m, R.sub.31 to R.sub.3m and R.sub.41 to R.sub.4m each represents a hydrogen atom, a straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated, acyclic or cyclic group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms and which may contain a heteroatom, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic group having 4 to 20 carbon atoms, or an aralkyl group having 5 to 20 carbon atoms in the presence of an alkaline earth metal with a compound which replaces all or a part of the hydrogen atoms of the hydroxyl groups of said calixarene derivative with a straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated, acyclic or cyclic group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms which may contain a heteroatom, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic group having 4 to 20 carbon atoms, or an aralkyl group having 5 to 20 carbon atoms to obtain a conformational isomer of a calixarene derivative having a hindered rotation of its benzene units.
- 2. A process for the preparation of an asymmetric calixarene derivative which comprises reacting a calixarene derivative represented by the following general formula: ##STR10## wherein n is an integer of 4 to 12;
- m is an integer of 1 to n; and
- R.sub.21 to R.sub.2m, R.sub.31 to R.sub.3m and R.sub.41 to R.sub.4m each represents a hydrogen atom, a straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated, acyclic or cyclic group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms which may contain a heteroatom, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic group having 4 to 20 carbon atoms or an aralkyl group having 5 to 20 carbon atoms in the presence of an alkaline earth metal with a compound which replaces all or a part of the hydrogen atoms of the hydroxyl groups of said calixarine derivative with a straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated, acyclic or cyclic group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms which may contain a heteroatom, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic group having 4 to 20 carbon atoms, or an aralkyl group having 5 to 20 carbon atoms to obtain a conformational isomer of a calixarene derivative having a hindered rotation of its benzene units, wherein one to three bulky substituents are first introduced and then residual substituents are introduced regioselectively during said reaction.
- 3. A process for the optical resolution of an asymmetric calixarene derivative which comprises bringing a calixarene derivative having an asymmetric structure and represented by the following general formula: ##STR11## wherein n is an integer of 4 to 12;
- m is an integer of 1 to n; and
- R.sub.11 to R.sub.1m, R.sub.21 to R.sub.2m, R.sub.31 to R.sub.3m and R.sub.41 to R.sub.4m each represents a hydrogen atom, a straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated, acyclic or cyclic group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms which may contain a heteroatom, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic group having 4 to 20 carbon atoms, or an aralkyl group having 5 to 20 carbon atoms, with the proviso that they must be selected so as to be bulky enough to hinder the rotation of the benzene units, into contact with an optically active polymer mainly constituted of a unit represented by the following general formula: ##STR12## wherein n is an integer of 20 or above and R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 may be the same or different from each other and each represents a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic group having 4 to 10 carbon atoms which may contain a heteroatom, and having a specific rotation of at least 50.degree. (in terms of absolute value.
- 4. A process for the optical resolution of an asymmetric calixarene derivative which comprises bringing a calixarene derivative having an asymmetric structure and represented by the following general formula: ##STR13## wherein n is an integer of 4 to 12;
- m is an integer of 1 to n;
- R.sub.11 to R.sub.1m, R.sub.21 to R.sub.2m, R.sub.31 to R.sub.3m and R.sub.41 to R.sub.4m each represents a hydrogen atom, a straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated, acyclic or cyclic group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms which may contain a heteroatom, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic group having 4 to 20 carbon atoms, or an aralkyl group having 5 to 20 carbon atoms, with the proviso that they must be selected so as to be bulky enough to hinder the rotation of the benzene units into contact with a substance prepared by bonding an optically active group derived from an amino acid represented by the following general formula: ##STR14## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represents a straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated, acyclic or cyclic group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms which may contain a heteroatom, a saturated or unsaturated aromatic group having 4 to 20 carbon atoms, or an aralkyl group having 5 to 20 carbon atoms, with the proviso that R.sub.1 must be different from an ##STR15## group, to a carrier.
