Claims
- 1. A camera accessory mount adapted to be coupled to an accessory holder of the type including a support member and means defining a pair of laterally spaced open ended channels on the support member for receiving said accessory mount, said accessory mount comprising:
- an accessory mounting plate having a forward wall, a rear wall, a pair of opposed side walls intermediate said forward and rear walls, said mounting plate being laterally dimensioned, as measured between said opposed pair of side walls to be slideably inserted between the means defining the pair of laterally spaced channels on the accessory holder;
- means on said mounting plate for mounting thereon an accessory for modifying the performance of camera; and
- a pair of opposed projections, one on each of said pair of side walls of said mounting plate and extending outwardly therefrom, being dimensioned to be slideably inserted into the pair of channels on the accessory holder, through the open ends of the channels, for coupling said mounting plate to the accessory holder, said pair of projections being asymmetrically disposed on said pair of side walls with respect to the forward and rear walls of the mounting plate such that said pair of projections may only be inserted into the pair of open ended channels when said forward and rear walls are in a predetermined orientation with respect to the accessory holder.
- 2. A camera accessory mount as defined in claim 1 further including a pair of opposed extensions on said mounting plate which extend outwardly from said side walls and outwardly beyond the means defining the pair of channels on the accessory holder, when said accessory mounting plate is operatively coupled to the accessory holder, for providing gripping surfaces on said accessory mounting plate to facilitate its insertion into and removal from the accessory holder.
- 3. A camera accessory mount as defined in claim 1 wherein the accessory holder has a recess therein and said accessory mounting plate further includes a resilient latch member thereon which extends into said recess, when said accessory mounting plate is fully inserted into the channels of the accessory holder, for releasably latching said accessory mounting plate to the accessory holder.
- 4. A camera accessory mount as defined in claim 2 further including an accessory for modifying the performance of a camera, said accessary being mounted on said accessory mounting plate by said mounting means.
