Claims
- 1. For a flash device having a light control circuit for stopping a flash to obtain an amount of light emitted by a flash means corresponding to the distance to an object and a signal forming means which forms a signal corresponding to an aperture value required for proper exposure when using flash photography with said light control circuit;
- a camera usable with an interchangeable lens with a maximum diaphragm aperture comprising:
- diaphragm control means including electrical circuit means and a photometric element couplable to said electrical circuit means for receiving light passing through the maximum aperture of the interchangeable lens, and correcting means in said electrical means for correcting variations in the measurements of the photometric element as a result of the particular maximum aperture of the interchangeable lens,
- selector means adapted for connecting said electrical circuit means to one of the photometric element and the signal forming means in dependence upon whether the flash is to be used,
- switching means couplable to said correcting means for substantially removing the correction of the correcting means during flash photography.
- 2. A system comprising:
- a photographic device and a flash device for use in cooperation with the photographic device during flash operation, said flash device including:
- electronic illuminant means having trigger means to initiate illumination,
- connector means connectable to a power source,
- energy charge means including capacitor means coupled to said connector means and to said illuminant means,
- signal forming means for producing a signal corresponding to a designated value of an exposure aperture, and
- a light quantity control circuit having means for receiving distance information, timing signal generation means for producing a stop signal after elapse of time depending on said distance information and on said designated aperture value, and a stopping circuit for stopping the emission of a flash of light by said flash device in response to said stop signal; and said photographic device having:
- defining means to define an exposure aperture,
- control means to control said aperture defining means and being electrically coupled with said signal forming means when the artificial light source device is to be used with the photographic device, said control circuit further being arranged to control the exposure apreture on the basis of the signal from said signal forming circuit when using the artificial light source,
- said artificial light source including a photosensitive element to receive a reflected light from the object illuminated by the flash light and timing circuit means connected to the photosensitive element for forming a timing signal based on the output of the element and a stopping means for stopping the illumination of the flash light, the timing means being operatively connected to the stopping means for stopping the illumination when the timing signal is produced.
- 3. For a flash device having light control means for stopping the illumination of an illuminating means and a signal forming means for setting information for the flash photography, said light control means including:
- distance signal forming means for producing a timing signal corresponding to a distance to the object and the setting information by the above-mentioned signal forming means,
- means for stopping the illumination of the illuminating means, the stopping means being connected to the distance signal forming means and controlled by the timing signal during flash photography; a single lens reflex camera usable with an interchangeable lens comprising:
- diaphragm control means including electrical circuit means connectable to a photometric element which receives light passing through the fully opened diaphragm of the interchangeable lens, and adapting means for adapting the photometry corresponding to the fully open diaphragm value of the interchangeable lens,
- selector means couplable to said photometric element and the signal forming means as well as the electrical circuit means for alternately connecting the photometric element and the signal forming means to the electrical circuit means in correspondence to daylight photography and flash photography,
- disabling means couplable to the adapting means for substantially disabling the adaptation corresponding to the fully open diaphragm value of the interchangeable lens for flash photography.
- 4. The device according to claim 3, in which the signal forming means includes a variable resistance means.
- 5. The device according to claim 3, in which the electrical circuit means includes a variable resistance means and the adaptive means including a resistance which is adjusted to correspond to the fully open diaphragm value of the interchangeable lens.
- 6. For a flash device having a light control circuit means for stopping an illumination of an illuminating means on the basis of distance to an object for controlling the amount of light emitted by the illuminating means and a means for setting information for flash photography; a single lens reflex camera usable with an interchangeable lens comprising:
- a diaphragm control means including electrical circuit means operatively connectable to a photometric element which receives light passing through the fully open diaphragm of the interchangeable lens, and adapting means for adapting the photometric element to the fully open diaphragm of the interchangeable lens,
- a means for connecting one of the photometric element and the informating setting means to the electrical circuit means in correspondence to daylight photographing and flash photographing, and
- disabling means coupled to the adapting means for disabling the adaptation to the open diaphragm value of the interchangeable lens for performing flash photography.
- 7. For use with a flash device having a light receiving element for receiving a reflected light from an object to be photographed, a light control circuit for stopping the flash to control the amount of light emitted from the flash means when the amount of reflected light received by said light receiving element reaches a predetermined level and a signal forming circuit for producing an aperture value signal corresponding to the predetermined level;
- a camera comprising:
- (A) a camera body;
- (B) shutter means in the body for determining an exposure time on the basis of the opening and closing thereof;
- (C) synchronizing means coupled to the shutter means for producing a flash starting signal in synchronism with the opening of the shutter means;
- (D) diaphragm defining means for defining an exposure aperture;
- (E) a diaphragm signal producing circuit to produce a signal corresponding to an aperture value suitable for daylight photography;
- (F) mode selection means for selecting a natural light photography mode or a flash photography mode;
- (G) an electrical terminal provided on the camera body for receiving the signal from the signal forming circuit of the flash device; and
- (I) diaphragm control means coupled with the diaphragm defining means to control the diaphragm defining means on the basis of the signal from the diaphragm signal producing circuit independently of the signal from the terminal means in the natural light photography mode and to control the diaphragm defining means on the basis of the signal from the terminal means independently of the signal from the diaphragm signal producing circuit in the flash photography mode.
- 8. A camera according to claim 7, wherein said mode selecting means connects the diaphragm signal producing circuit to said diaphragm control means and disconnects said terminal means from the diaphragm control means in the natural light photography mode, and connects the terminal means to said diaphragm control means and disconnects the diaphragm signal producing circuit from the diaphragm control means in the flash photography mode.
- 9. For use in combination with a camera having electrical signal forming means for introducing at least one of a plurality of exposure-determining variable factors such as film speed and diaphragm aperture, an electronic flash comprising:
- (A) flash means for producing a flash;
- (B) a photosensitive means for receiving light reflected from an object subject to the flash;
- (C) light control circuitry electrically connected with said photosensitive means for automatically determining the time of flash illumination provided by said flash means,
- (D) second signal forming means for producing a signal corresponding to at least one of a plurality of exposure determining factors;
- (E) switch means operatively connected with said second signal forming means and to said light control circuitry for electrically connecting the second electrical signal forming means to said circuitry when a flash control condition is selected and for disconnecting said second electrical signal forming means from said circuitry when a camera control condition is selected;
- (F) connecting means for connecting said first signal forming means to said circuitry in a selected camera control condition so that the light control circuitry controls the flash emission time on the bases of a signal from said photosensitive means and the signal from the first signal forming means in the camera control condition and controls the flash emission time on the bases of the signal from said photosensitive means and the signal from said second signal forming means in the flash device control condition.
- 10. For use in combination with a camera having an aperture determining means for determining an aperture value on the basis of an input signal; a flash device comprising:
- (a) flash means for emitting a flash of light;
- (b) a light receiving circuit for receiving reflected light from an object to be photographed;
- (c) a flash light control circuit connected to said flash means and said light receiving circuit for producing a stop signal when an amount of light received by the light receiving circuit reaches a predetermined light amount value, for stopping the flash of light to control an amount of light emitted by the flash means on the basis of the stop signal; and
- (d) aperture signal means for providing an input signal, a value of said signal corresponding to the predetermined light amount value.
- 11. A flash device according to claim 10, wherein said flash device includes accumulating means for accumulating flash energy and detecting means for detecting the level of the flash energy being accumulated by said accumulating means and producing an output when the flash energy level reaches a predetermined value; and said aperture determining means is arranged to respond to the output of said detecting means and determine an aperture value on the basis of a signal from said aperture signal means.
- 12. A flash device according to claim 10, further comprising accumulating means for accumulating flash energy, detecting means for detecting the level of the flash energy accumulated by said accumulating means and for producing an output thereof when said level reaches a predetermined value, and a terminal for transmitting the aperture value signal from said aperture value signal forming means to said aperture determining means of the camera; and aperture signal means being arranged to form the signal in response to the output of said detecting means.
- 13. A device usable with a camera having an aperture control circuit for controlling an exposure aperture on the basis of an aperture signal; said device comprising:
- (a) a light control circuit for producing a signal to control an amount of light emitted by a flash means when the amount of light reflected reaches a predetermined value, and
- (b) an aperture signal forming circuit for producing the aperture signal corresponding to the predetermined value.
- 14. A computer flash device usable in combination with a camera having a diaphragm control circuit for controlling the aperture on the basis of an input signal, said computer flash device comprising:
- (a) diaphragm aperture information signal forming means for forming aperture information corresponding to the amount of light emitted by said computer flash device;
- (b) a capacitor for storing energy for a flash; and
- (c) transmitting means for transmitting said aperture information to said camera when said energy stored in said capacitor reaches a certain value.
- 15. A system comprising:
- (A) a flash device, including:
- (a) flash means for emitting a flash;
- (b) trigger means for initiating a flash by the flash means;
- (c) coupling means for coupling to a power source;
- (d) energy charge means including capacitor means coupled to said coupling means and said flash means;
- (e) a light quantity control circuit connected to said flash means and having a light receiving circuit for receiving reflected light from an object to be photographed for ending a flash from said flash means when the quantity of the reflected light received by said light receiving circuit reaches a predetermined level; and
- (f) a signal forming circuit for producing an electrical signal corresponding to said predetermined level, said signal forming circuit being arranged to produce said electrical signal as a designated aperture value; and
- (B) a camera, including:
- (a) means for defining an exposure aperture; and
- (b) a control circuit for controlling said defining means, said control circuit being arranged to be electrically coupled with said signal forming circuit when the flash device is to be used with the camera, said control circuit further being arranged to control the exposure aperture on the basis of the signal from said signal forming circuit when using the flash device.
- 16. A photographic system comprising:
- (A) a camera having:
- (a) means for defining an exposure aperture;
- (b) a photosensitive circuit which receives light from an object to be photographed;
- (c) a terminal;
- (d) mode selecting means for selecting a natural light photography mode or a flash light photography mode, and
- (e) a control circuit which automatically controls said aperture defining means on the basis of an input signal, said control circuit being coupled with said selecting means and being arranged to receive a signal from the photosensitive circuit in a natural light photography mode and to receive a signal coming through said terminal in a flash light photography mode;
- (B) a flash device including:
- (a) flash means for emitting a flash;
- (b) a light quantity control circuit connected to said flash means, said control circuit having a light receiving circuit for receiving reflected light emitted by said flash means from the object, timing means for producing a stop signal for terminating the flash when the amount of light received by said light receiving circuit reaches a predetermined light amount level;
- (c) a signal circuit for producing an electrical signal corresponding to the predetermined light amount level;
- (d) a terminal for transmitting said electrical signal from the signal forming circuit to said terminal of said camera.
- 17. A camera adapted for use with a flash device having a light receiving element for receiving a reflected light from an object to be photographed, a light control circuit for stopping emission of a flash when the amount of the reflected light received by said light receiving element reaches a predetermined level and a signal forming circuit for producing an aperture value signal corresponding to said predetermined level, said camera comprising:
- (a) a camera body;
- (b) diaphragm defining means for defining an exposure aperture;
- (c) a diaphragm signal producing circuit for producing a signal corresponding to an aperture value suitable for daylight photography;
- (d) mode selecting means for selecting a natural light photography mode or a flash photography mode;
- (e) electric terminal means on the camera body for receiving the signal from the signal forming circuit of the flash device;
- (f) memory means for memorizing the signal produced by the diaphragm signal producing circuit or the signal received by said terminal means, said mode selecting means being arranged to supply the signal produced by said signal producing circuit to said memory means while preventing the signal received by said terminal means from being supplied when the natural light photography mode is selected and to supply said memory means with the signal received by said terminal means while preventing the signal produced by said signal producing circuit from being supplied to said memory means when the flash light photography mode is selected; and
- (g) diaphragm control means coupled to said diaphragm defining means to control said diaphragm defining means on the basis of the signal memorized in said memory means.
- 18. A camera usable with a flash device having a light receiving element for receiving reflected light from an object to be photographed, a control circuit for producing a stop signal when the amount of the reflected light received by the light receiving element reaches a predetermined level, means for stopping emission of a flash in response to the stop signal, and a designated aperture value signal forming circuit for producing an aperture value signal corresponding to the predetermined level of the amount of reflected light received, said camera comprising:
- (a) a camera body;
- (b) diaphragm defining means for defining an exposure aperture;
- (c) a diaphragm aperture signal producing circuit for producing a signal corresponding to an aperture value suitable for daylight photography;
- (d) electric terminal means on the camera body and arranged to receive the aperture value signal from said designated aperture value signal forming circuit of the flash device;
- (e) diaphragm control means coupled with said diaphram defining means for controlling the diaphagm defining means on the basis of an input signal; and
- (f) mode selecting means for selecting a natural light photographic mode or a flash photographic mode, said mode selecting means being in a first state when the natural light photographic mode is selected and in a second state when the flash photographic mode is selected, said mode selecting means being arranged to have said diaphragm control means coupled therewith to transmit the signal from said diaphragm aperture signal producing circuit to said diaphragm control means and to prevent the signal from said electric terminal means from being transmitted when the selecting means is in the first state, said mode selecting means being arranged to transmit the signal from said electric terminal means to the diaphragm control means and to prevent the signal from said aperture signal producing circuit from being transmitted when the selecting means is in the second state.
- 19. A camera usable in combination with a flash device having a light receiving element for receiving reflected light from an object to be photographed, a control circuit for producing a stop signal when the amount of reflected light received by the light receiving element reaches a predetermined level, means for stopping emission of a flash in response to the stop signal, and a designated aperture signal forming circuit for producing an aperture value signal corresponding to said predetermined level of amount of light, said camera comprising:
- (a) a camera body;
- (b) a diaphragm aperture signal producing circuit for producing a signal corresponding to an aperture value suitable for daylight photography;
- (c) electric terminal means disposed on the camera body and arranged to receive the aperture value signal from said designated aperture value signal forming circuit of the flash device;
- (d) a diaphragm aperture indication circuit for indicating an aperture value on the basis of an input signal; and
- (e) mode selecting means for selecting a natural light photography mode or a flash photography mode, said mode selecting means being in a first state when the natural light photography mode is selected and in a second state when the flash photography mode is selected, said mode selecting means being arranged to have said diaphragm aperture indication circuit coupled therewith to transmit the signal from said diaphragm aperture signal producing circuit to said diaphragm aperture indication circuit and to prevent the signal from said electric terminal means from being transmitted when the selecting means is in the first state, said mode selecting means being further arranged to transmit the signal from said electric terminal means to the diaphragm aperture indication circuit and to prevent the signal from said diaphragm aperture signal producing circuit from being transmitted when the selecting means is in the second state.
- 20. A device adapted for use in a flash photography system of the type arranged to receive flash light reflected from an object to be photographed; to stop the emission of the flash when the quantity of the received reflected light reaches a predetermined quantity so as to adjust the quantity of the flash; and to control an aperture for exposure by using a camera having a diaphragm control circuit which adjusts the aperture on the basis of an input signal, said device comprising:
- (a) an aperture signal forming circuit for forming a designated aperture value signal corresponding to the level of the quantity of light received; and
- (b) a terminal for transmitting the signal from the aperture signal forming circuit to the camera.
- 21. A system comprising:
- (A) a camera including:
- (a) diaphragm means for defining an exposure aperture, and
- (b) a diaphragm control circuit for controlling the diaphragm means on the basis of an input signal; and
- (B) a flash device including:
- (a) flash means;
- (b) light receiving means for receiving flash light reflected from an object to be photographed;
- (c) a flash control circuit arranged to produce a stop signal when the amount of light received by the light receiving means reaches a predetermined level;
- (d) means for stopping emission of light from said flash means in response to the stop signal, and
- (e) aperture signal forming means for providing said diaphragm control circuit with an aperture signal which corresponds to said predetermined level of amount of light.
- 22. A system according to claim 21, wherein said flash device further includes accumulating means for accumulating flash energy and detecting means for detecting the level of the flash energy accumulated by said accumulating means and for producing an output when the flash energy level reaches a predetermined value; and said diaphgram control circuit of the camera being arranged to control the aperture means in response to the output of said detecting means on the basis of the aperture signal from said aperture signal forming means.
- 23. A system according to claim 21, wherein said camera is provided with film sensitivity setting means for setting film sensitivity information; and said diaphragm control circuit is arranged to control the aperture of said diaphragm means in accordance with the aperture signal from said flash device and the film sensitivity information set by said film sensitivity means.
- 24. A computer flash device usable in combination with a camera having a diaphragm control circuit for controlling an aperture thereof on the basis of an input signal, said computer flash device comprising:
- (a) flash means for producing light flashes;
- (b) a light receiving element for receiving flash light reflected from an object to be photographed;
- (c) a control circuit for producing a stop signal when the amount of light received by said receiving element reaches a predetermined amount of light;
- (d) means for stopping emission of light from said flash means in response to said stop signal;
- (e) diaphragm signal forming means for forming an aperture signal corresponding to said predetermined amount of light;
- (f) a capacitor for storing energy required for causing said flash means to produce a flash;
- (g) detecting means for detecting the state of the energy stored in said capacitor, said detecting means being arranged to produce a signal when the energy stored in the capacitor reaches a predetermined level; and
- (h) transmission means for transmitting said aperture signal to the diaphragm control circuit when said detecting means produces the signal.
- 25. A computer flash device usable in combination with a camera having a diaphragm control circuit for controlling a diaphragm aperture on the basis of an input signal, said flash device comprising:
- (a) flash means for producing a flash;
- (b) light receiving means for receiving flash light reflected from an object to be photographed;
- (c) a flash control circuit for producing a stop signal when the amount of light received by said receiving means reaches a predetermined amount level;
- (d) stopping means for stopping emission of a flash from said flash means in response to the stop signal;
- (e) setting means for setting said predetermined amount level;
- (f) signal forming means for producing an aperture signal corresponding to the predetermined amount level; and
- (g) transmitting means for transmitting the aperture signal from the signal forming means to said diaphragm control circuit.
- 26. A camera system comprising:
- (A) a camera including:
- (a) connection means for connection to a power source;
- (b) a diaphragm control circuit for controlling the aperture of a diaphragm on the basis of an input signal, said control circuit being connected to the connection means so as to receive driving power from the power source, and
- (c) a first terminal connected to said connection means;
- (B) a flash device including:
- (a) a second terminal connectable to said first terminal;
- (b) flash means for emitting a light flash;
- (c) light receiving means for receiving a light reflected from an object to be photographed;
- (d) a control circuit for producing a stop signal when the amount of the light received by said receiving means reaches a predetermined amount of light;
- (e) means for stopping the emission of the flash in response to the stop signal, and
- (f) impedance means connected to said second terminal and having an impedance value corresponding to said predetermined amount of light, said impedance means forming an aperture signal corresponding to the impedance value when the first and second terminals are connected and the driver power is supplied, and the diaphgram control circuit being arranged to control said aperture in accordance with said aperture signal.
- 27. A device for use in a flash photography system in which the amount of a flash light is adjusted by receiving reflected light resulting from a flash and by stopping the flash when the quantity of said received light reaches a predetermined quantity; and an exposure aperture is adjusted by an aperture adjusting circuit of a camera operable when connected to a power source of the camera for adjusting the aperture according to an aperture signal and the camera having an external terminal connectable to the power source, said device comprising:
- (a) a second terminal provided for connection to said external terminal; and
- (b) signal forming means connected to said second terminal, said signal forming means including impedance means having an impedance value corresponding to the predetermined quantity of light received, said signal forming means being arranged to form the aperture signal which corresponds to said predetermined level of light quantity received by receiving a voltage supply from a camera through said terminals.
- 28. A computer flash device usable in combination with a camera having a diaphragm control circuit for controlling a diaphragm aperture on the basis of an input signal, said flash device comprising:
- (a) flash means;
- (b) means for setting a predetermined quantity of light level;
- (c) light receiving means for receiving light reflected by an object to be photographed;
- (d) a flash control circuit arranged to form a stop signal when the amount of light received by said light receiving means reaches a predetermined quantity of light;
- (e) means for stopping emission of a flash of light in response to the stop signal;
- (f) a signal forming means for forming a signal corresponding to the predetermined quantity of light set by said setting means;
- (g) means for transmitting said signal from said signal forming means to said diaphragm control circuit.
- 29. A camera system comprising:
- (A) a flash device having:
- (a) flash means for emitting a flash of light;
- (b) light receiving means for receiving the flash of light reflected by an object to be photographed;
- (c) setting means for setting a predetermined light quantity level;
- (d) a flash control circuit for producing a stop signal when the amount of light received by said light receiving means reaches a predetermined light quantity level set by said setting means;
- (e) means for stopping emission of the flash of light in response to the stop signal;
- (f) a signal forming circuit for producing a signal corresponding to the light quantity level set by said setting means, and
- (g) adjusting means for adjusting the predetermined light quantity to a value corresponding to an aperture value set by said setting means; and
- (B) a camera having:
- (a) diaphragm defining means; and
- (b) a control circuit for controlling said defining means on the basis of the signal from said signal forming circuit.
- 30. For use with a camera having an aperture control circuit for controlling an exposure aperture on the basis of an aperture signal, and with flash means for emitting a flash of light as well as light receiving means for receiving the light of a flash reflected by an object to be photographed, an arrangement comprising:
- (a) setting means for setting a predetermined light quantity level;
- (b) a flash control circuit for producing a signal for stopping light emitted by the flash means when the amount of a reflected flash of light received by the light receiving means reaches a predetermined light quantity set by said setting means; and
- (c) an aperture signal forming circuit for forming said aperture signal which corresponds to the designated aperture value set by said setting means.
- 31. A device for a flash photographic system arranged to receive reflected light resulting from emission of a flash of light and reflected by an object to be photographed; arranged to adjust the quantity of the flash of light by stopping the emission of the flash of light when the amount of the received reflected light reaches a predetermined light quantity; and arranged to control an aperture with a diaphragm control circuit and responsive to an input signal, said device comprising:
- (a) setting means for setting the predetermined light quantity, whereby flash emission is terminated when the amount of the received reflected light reaches said predetermined light quantity set by said setting means;
- (b) an aperture signal forming circuit for producing an aperture signal corresponding to the predetermined light quantity set by said setting means; and
- (c) a terminal for transmitting the signal from the aperture signal forming circuit to the diaphragm control circuit.
- 32. For use in combintion with a camera having aperture determining means for determining an aperture value on the basis of an input signal; a flash device comprising:
- (a) flash means for emitting a flash of light;
- (b) light receiving means for receiving light reflected from an object;
- (c) a light control circuit for stopping the flash emitted by said flash means when the amount of light received by said light receiving means reaches a predetermined level; and
- (d) designated aperture value signal forming means for providing to said aperture determining means an aperture value signal corresponding to the predetermined level.
- 33. A device usable for a flash photographic system using a camera having aperture determining means for determining an aperture value on the basis of an input signal, in which the flash light reflected from an object is received and the quantity of the flash is adjusted by stopping the flash emission when the amount of received light reaches a predetermined light quantity level, said device comprising:
- (a) a designated aperture value signal circuit for forming an aperture value signal corresponding to the predetermined light quantity level; and
- (b) a terminal for providing the aperture value signal to said aperture means.
